Cedar Ridge High School

Excellent High School. I have had an almost perfect (with the exception of the Cedar Ridge Volleyball Program) experience with 3 kids going to Cedar Ridge, all 3 in AP classes and one graduating with honors. They have received a high quality education. The programs I have found to be the most structured are in the fine arts dept, including theater, music, visual arts and especially band.
The only stain that prevents me from giving it a full 5 star rating is the Cedar Ridge High School Varsity Volleyball Coaching Program, which I would give zero stars.

Yes, the facility is new and clean. However, the teachers have a tendency to have the same maturity level as their students. If you don’t mind your English teacher acting as if she’s part of some sort of teenaged cheerleader clique or band directors who frequently exclude kids and leave them unattended/​unsupervised for 2 hours every day, then by all means, send your kids to Cedar Ridge High School.
This was by far our worst school experience we’ve had thus far. We got so fed up with the lack of leadership from the school administration, the broken promises from teachers, and the general disrespect towards the students, that we withdrew our son at the beginning of the second semester of the 2013 – 2014 school year. Instead of subjecting him to further issues at that school, we enrolled him into Texas Connections Academy at Houston’s online public school program. And I can honestly say that we’ve never been happier. Our son’s grades have improved drastically and he is set to finish the current semester with all A’s. No way could he have done that at Cedar Ridge with the lack of support they gave him.
We’ve spoken to several neighbors about our experience only to find out that they also withdrew their kids for a myriad of reasons. One of the families even said their daughter received DEATH THREATS! They reported it immediately to the administration but NOTHING was done about it. So they removed her immediately.
Always check out your child’s school. Don’t think that just because the school is new that it’ll be a great experience for both you and your child. And listen closely to your kids… especially if they tell you they’re having problems with their teachers or fellow classmates. There could be a serious problem…

Very new school! Everything is clean and updated.
My son goes here and I’m pretty pleased with the school, how it is organized, and the staff seems competent, which at many high schools they are not.
