Austex NAPA Auto Parts of Round Rock

Stopped in here on the way home needing a couple quarts of oil for the truck. I waited in the truck and hubby went in to get what we needed. He was in there for quite a while, and was about to go in looking for him. You know men and cars, tools and auto parts… He finally came out, and he was pissed. I asked him what was wrong, and he said he was waiting this whole time at the counter, and no one would help him. He said that there were 2 employees talking and goofing off, and no one at the register. During the time he was in the store, I saw 2 employees hanging out in the parking lot. We left with out buying anything. As we pulled out, I noticed the lack of cars in the lot. Perhaps we should have taken notice before we stopped.
Hubby also mentioned that they were over priced for the oil we needed. Stopped a few block further north on the way home, and found better quality oil for much less than was Napa was selling.

This parts store has an interesting rustic façade, and their parking lot is convenient for stopping to view the Round Rock bats when they come out at night. (And being Round Rock, the place isn’t plastered with signs about how they’ll tow you, mace you, steal your firstborn and sacrifice her to Ozzy Ozborne himself if you park there and aren’t a customer. It’s kind of refreshing.)
Speaking of the bat bridge… the exterior of this place smells like… well let’s just say «a barn» and leave it at that.
But you’re not here for pleasant smells, you’re here for auto parts, aren’t you? I’m smarting from the fact that a Napa-​brand battery that doesn’t fit my battery vent tubes costs 50% more than a genuine Mazda battery cost 2 years ago. (Also, the trickle charger I got here a few months ago doesn’t seem to work.)
To their credit, they do have auto parts, and sell them. If you’re price shopping, call around before you drop in like I did. My car is running again, and that’s cool, but I can’t give this place much of a recommendation.
