Ntb-National Tire & Battery

A few months ago, I ran over a motorcycle part in the road and blew out one of my tires. I put on the spare and checked my phone for nearby tire shops. Turns out this place was half a mile away and had my exact size and brand tire in stock. That was the only positive aspect of my experience here.
Two main issues will keep me from coming back. First of all, about half an hour after I left, they called to let me know that they had neglected to return my spare tire to my trunk. This meant that I had to drive all the way back to Roswell to pick it up. Not only did I receive no apology, but I got no help when I returned to the store. They didn’t even have my spare waiting up front for me. The guy at the desk told me to drive back to the garage and get it myself. I actually had to walk into the shop, find my spare on the floor, and haul it back to the car.
The worst part was what I found out a couple weeks later. For some reason I ended up checking my tire pressure and found that NTB had put TWICE the required amount of air into the replacement tire. A tire that called for 32psi contained 62. I let half the air out and was fine, but I don’t know what prevented the thing from exploding on me at highway speed.
These two experiences and the general unhelpful attitude of the staff will prevent me from returning. I’ve had positive experiences with NTB before, but this location is to be avoided.

It took over an hour an hour and a half to do a simple oil change (and that’s with an appointment). There was only two cars including mine and four workers. All of the workers took their time and walked around a lot without getting any work done. I tried to tell the person working the front desk that I had to get to work and that I would be late if it took any longer. That didn’t help at all because I was still late to work and no one there seemed to care. When the car was finished the worker drove the car around and didn’t tell anyone he was finished so I had to go to the front desk and demand to pay so that I could leave. It was a nightmare ordeal and this wasn’t the first time this happened. I would strongly recommend another place to get your car fixed.

What an awful experience — and funnily enough, I didn’t engage with a single employee. Myssstery! But stay tuned; we were beautifully rescued in the end!
I usually go to NTB when/​if I have tire issues and I’ve always received great service from them so when I needed new tires I didn’t think twice about making an appointment with them. Today, my mind was about to change. It went down like this.
We walk in and there’s no one in the lobby. We wait for a few minutes and we hear chattering from down the hall in the other waiting room so we assume its employees. My husband walks over and doesn’t see anyone — it was kind of hard to tell where it was actually coming from. Anyway, I digress. Where was I? Oh, yes, still WAITING.
Our appointment was for 9:30. At 9:36, we still hadn’t seen any employees and then we heard a customer’s voice, loudly and clearly, arguing with someone about not wanting to pay for NTB’s mistake. Not a good sign. Apparently the store had messed up on his car repair and it was going to cost him, and he wasn’t having it. Can you blame him?
After that we heard an employee from somewhere (WHERE WERE THESE PEOPLE?!) calling a customer a dumbass. My husband rounded the corner again to catch someone’s eye, and… nothing. Then we called the store itself and heard the phones continue to ring.
We waited a few more minutes and then we gave up. I was frustrated and really, really didn’t want to have to go through the process of booking another appointment and searching for dealers that carried the tires I wanted.
And then it happened. Magic. We walked outside and as we’re making our way to the car, we notice the Discount Tires store right next door. Too goo to be true? Why not? Let’s check em out.
And that part of the story happened like this: Walked in, greeted and acknowledged about being next, had super friendly, knowledgeable customer service, they matched the $ 70 rebate on the tires that NTB had going on, AND — here’s the other, other, other best part — they had my new tires installed in. twenty. minutes. 20 minutes! We left to get breakfast, thinking we’d have about an hour to kill, and I had just gotten my coffee when they called to tell me it was ready. Whaaa?
They have a new customer. NTB has lost one. This location, anyway.
Oh, and if anyone was wondering, they never called to check in on my 9:30 appointment.

What a nightmare, these people are incompetent and the pricing is not what was promised on tire rack! It ended up 50% more than I expected because «balance isn’t included in the mounting»
First, I had an appointment for 4pm to get 4 tires mounted and balanced while I waited. They didn’t touch the car for 45mins and then they proceeded to take almost 3 hours to install them…
THEN after I pay and go to my car I notice that one of the tires is on backwards (directional tires that CLEARLY say «outside» and «inside» on each side of the tire). They were nice enough to give me a refund for the last tire they did incorrectly but then I get in my car and there is grease/​dirt all over my light colored leather interior.
I suppose I should have read the reviews and stayed away from this joke of a shop. It is too bad too because I used the NTB by my old house all the time. This location is just run by a bunch of idiots.

Took truck in for brake check pedal low and spongy, after several hours was told needed all new brakes and balljoints after spending all day waiting got vehicle back pedal still spongy and low. Tech came out and said all fords are like that and that’s normal. Wrong answer! I’m professional mechanic but company has us take trucks in for service. Told tech he’s wrong and went to another ntb who promptly told me after trying out brakes needed master cylinder. Then they found rear brakes not touched. Showed them the bill from other store and they did the rear brakes for no charge. Guess where I go now.

Is anyone ever really happy to go to the auto service center? Of all the «shopping”-related errands in the world, getting an oil change or tire rotation or new brakes sort of comes in last in terms of excitement. Nevertheless, the genuinely nice guys who work at this NTB try to make the experience as pleasant as it possibly can be.
I’m a fan of their $ 19.99 price for a standard oil change, and I’m an even bigger fan of the fact that you can set an appointment in advance either over the phone or on the company website. This is a big convenience, because many service centers do not offer appointments and operate on a «first come, first served» basis. Oil changes should take about half an hour, and making appointments can save this simple errand from turning into a massive vacuum that sucks up every free minute of the day.
The lobby is clean and comfortable, even if the air is kept a little chilly. I like that there are two sections — one with a coffee maker, magazines, and a television and one that’s very quiet with just a couple of chairs. I usually bring a magazine or use my wait time to feed my Candy Crush addiction, so that’s where you’ll find me when my car’s getting some work done.
If you want an NTB tech to give your car a comprehensive check-​up (I’ve done it to investigate an unpleasant noise and soothe my own fears before a road trip) it’s only $ 14.99. This is very reasonable, in my opinion.

Great experiences every time I go here! I usually hate going to get my oil changed because they tell you everything is wrong with your car. I met a respectful manager named Ryan who took the time to explain things and didn’t try to sell me things I didn’t need. They were very honest, not the typical automotive shop. I will never go anywhere else!

Really disappointed. Bought a lifetime alignment package for my BMW M3 when I had 2 new tires put on last year. Scheduled appt for today to mount the other 2 and to get an alignment. Was told 2 hrs. Came to pick it up 2 hrs later and asked for an alignment printout, and the Manager kind of grinned and stuttered about this and that before i just said «you didn’t even do an alignment did you?» He continued to stutter and finally admitted they didn’t. They pulled it around to a wide open empty bay and did one.
The guy that did the alignment was very nice and worked hard to get it just right.
So I had to wait another hour, and missed my sons baseball game waiting. Alignment was seriously «off» so glad I forced the issue (these tires aren’t cheap) but would not recommend these guy for anything) what a serious lack of integrity! Expected more from NTB!

CON MEN.
I noticed I needed to get my tires replaced the other day, so I came here with a small coupon to for 40 off. They honored it, and I got 4 new Nitto NeoGen tires for my 04 Nissan Sentra SER Spec V, which was pretty expensive, but that was to be expected. The guys seemed real cool and we talked a bit since he had also gone to GeorgiaTech, where I now go. Then, during the changing of the tires, he mentions to me that the struts are worn, but that one of them is actually broken and has been so for a while and thus doesn’t even leak anymore. This seems weird to me but I believe it since its a mechanic telling me.
I come back the next day to get the 2 rear struts replaced, but it turns out they don’t have the part, so I just take my car and leave, and they tell me they’ll have it tomorrow. Now with a little more time since I couldn’t get it done for a couple days, I go and ask my friend mark who works with cars a lot to check the strut with me.
…he sees nothing wrong. We go try out the car, and it’s still perfectly fine. Now up to this point I thought they were pretty cool, but clearly they were trying to con me into changing something that was fine in my car. I don’t know if it was because of the coupon or what, but I am never coming back here again.
