I just heard that someone wrote a really bad review and let’s just say there’s always that one person that can never be satisfied. The owners of Sofia’s are the nicest people you would ever want to meet, and their staff is wonderful. So to that person who wrote that bad review don’t come back, it just makes my wait time less

Went here for my girlfriend’s birthday and we enjoyed it immensely. Excellent food, and we loved our waiter, a man with a great personality who provided above-​average service.
She had the Sirloin Au Poivre and I had one of the specials, a pork florentine. We tried each others’ entrees: all of the food was perfectly cooked, packed full of delicious flavor, and expertly prepared. Topped it off with a perfect tiramisu.
When I called that morning to make a reservation, they asked me to call back in the evening, which I thought was odd. Then I was told they don’t take reservations, but they took my name down anyway, which was also odd. Why take my name and the time I’m coming if it isn’t a reservation?
But. The food was so satisfying and the waiter was so lovely that I don’t really mind. We can’t wait to go back for a special night out again sometime.

We were looking for a new date night place to try. We had a few friends recommend this place to us and after reading the Unilocal reviews, we decided to give it a try. It is very busy here. I recommend calling ahead when they open at 5pm to put your name on a list. We did this for around 7:30 and were seated within 5 minutes. Parking is on the street and there is also a lot behind near the Citizens bank.
The wait staff are wonderful and very professional. We weren’t sure between a few items and they gave us their recommendations. For the appetizer, we ordered the calamari and the grilled and veggie antipasto. These sure did not disappoint. The calamari was crispy and the veggies were well paired with cheeses. For the entrees, my husband ordered the lobster open faced ravioli and I ordered the bolognese. The lobster was fresh and perfectly cooked when I took a bite of it. Needless to say my husband loved it because there was nothing remaining on his plate. The bolognese was fantastic. The pasta is made fresh daily and the meat sauce was hot and well flavored. It seems people like their bolognese a lot because I saw a lot of people around us ordering it. They do not rush you out which is wonderful but I am sure it can be frustrating when you are waiting for a table. I highly recommend this place and we will be back again for sure. We didn’t get to try dessert this time but I heard their bread pudding is delicious. I’ll have to try that next time.

Great Italian food. We had the pumpkin ravioli and it was delicious. I recommend coming and trying it!

I really, really wanted to like this place. It’s so quaint! Nice authentic Italian restaurant. What’s not to love?
Well, the seafood in the linguini is the reason. I had the frutti di mare version and it was very fishy – aside from the shrimp. Sometimes, there may be a bad mussel or clam but every single one I tasted was fishy. I ended up pulling them out. Same thing with the calamari which is weird. Calamari is not usually fishy in taste. I can only attribute that it wasn’t fresh. So strange in Boston which is known for its fabulous seafood! I also thought the pink sauce was very bland.
The tiramisu was outstanding and my coworker loved her lamb chops. I think I need to give this place another try and go with the ricotta gnocchi next time.

One of my most favorite italian restaurants. Try anything and everything. All the pastas are fresh pasta not boxed and dry. The calamari is delicious, the rice balls are great. They have a nice beer and wine list. This place is so affordable for what you get for a meal. Oh the tiramisu and cannolis are delicious. Word to the wise… the place is small and cozy so it fills up early. Go to delfinos you won’t be disappointed. And if they are having gnocchi as a special get them!

Finally came back here again. First time was great. Food and service is just as good as the first time. Friendly staff and food is fresh. We had the calamari again. It was great the first time with chili sause (i think), but this time was just the marinara sauce. The crunch is still there though on the calamari. I also had the arancini (appt sepcial for the day), stuffed with pork (I thknk). It was good, always good with something inside than the plain rice balls. For meal, we had the striped bass (entrée special), cook nicely, and the duck entrée from the menu, it was good, but sauce a bit sweet for us. Good Italian restuarant in the greater boston area that is just as good or better than some in the North End.

So, so good. So good!
Don’t order the more boring food and you won’t be bored.
Get the good stuff — their gnocchi and steak are insane.

This is the ideal neighborhood restaurant. Expect a long wait on the weekends– so I prefer to go early on weekdays but don’t get me wrong, I can make it for a 5:30 dinner and there are already 4 – 5 tables sitting! The food speaks for itself. There is no wrong here and my family always enjoys it. The bread pudding is heaven on a plate. If I didn’t have to worry about my waistline, I’d be here every week.

Another great meal, been two years but its great to see the same staff doing a great job best meal I have had this year, arincini appetizer was outstanding, great Valentine’s dinner I am stuffed thanks to my mother for babysitting, look forward to another visit soon

Slow service. Duck is mediocre but bread with olive oil and chicken parm is amazing. Fried oyster was a bit oily and heavy

Was looking forward to having dinner at Delfino’s last night but they gave us a wait time of 2 ½ hours for nine ppl. Was really looking forward to LINGUINE CON BROCCOLI RAAB w/​shrimp ended up with risotto with shrimp and scallops at the Birch Street Bistro. maybe next time Delfino’s

Food is really good, period. Service is also great. It’s pricey and I’d rather go into the north end but for a nearby italian experience it’s a good one. You will enjoy your food and your experience! The Chicken Parmesan is a huge portion and is really tasty.
Warning — it is very small and very popular. I’ve always been able to get a seat after waiting a bit. Their site says no reservations, but what their site also doesn’t say is they take call ahead seating. I wanted to bring my mother and sister so we went at about 530pm, a half hour after they open figuring it might be an hour wait at most and we could go for a walk. Nope! It was a 2 – 3 hour wait when the guy pulled out a long list of individuals. My fiancé questioned the host saying the site says no reservations and that’s when the guy dismissively said we take call aheads. Call aheads that had apparently accrued between 5pm and 5:30. I was so mad. When my fiancé pointed out what the site said the host was unapologetic. Quite snotty about it actually. We ended up going over to Sophia’s Grotto instead.
That experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth and a poor opinion of the Host who has been there forever and will probably never leave. But beyond that and with knowledge of their call ahead system it is a pricey but worthy food establishment.

Had my birthday dinner here on Sunday and as always, the food was superb. We started with the vegetarian antipasto which was perfectly presented and seasoned. Portions were ideal to leave room for the exquisite open-​faced lobster ravioli in a rich but delicate cream sauce. There were sweet tender scallops in there, too. Rather than a traditional dessert, we ordered the Bibb lettuce salad to top off our feast. Our waitress was efficient and unobtrusive and to my delight, didn’t call us «ladies» and never asked if we were «still working» on our dinner. I can’t wait to have more of the lobster rav! Looking forward to the opening of Delfino’s sister location across the street. Keep your eyes peeled for 753 South in Rozzie!

Best Italian food you can get anywhere in Boston! I will pick delfino over any restaurant in the north end any day of the week! Place is amazing food is fresh and cooked perfectly! I have gone here since they opened. Just get there early there is always a line

Very underwhelming. We ordered the Cesar salad for a starter and it was bland and dry without being offensive. For the mains we had the lobster ravioli which had flavourless, frozen lobster on the side with, as other reviewers have mentioned, a bland cream sauce.
The daily special of short ribs was also underwhelming. The cauliflower purée instead of potato mash caught my ear, but it was nothing special. Not bad, just nothing special. for $ 27 it should be special.
The desserts were the worst cannoli ive ever had, dry and a terrible ricotta cream inside. The warm bread pudding was average with a boatload of whipped cream.

Went for dinner last night.
Host, Michael, was warm and welcoming. Walked us to bar and said he’d have a table for us shortly. Didn’t even wait 5 minutes,
Ambiance is warm and cozy. There are maybe 40 seats in the place and I love that you look right into kitchen. Place is immaculate.
Server was exceptional. Genuine and efficient.
Food — amazing!!! Best calamari I’ve ever had. Also had special spinach salad. Veal Saltimbocca was very tasty. Prices are very reasonable for quality of entire experience.
Will definitely be back.

We come here for a very nice meal or maybe a special occasion. The dish with Portobello mushrooms and a taste of truffle in pasta is our favorite. Never had a bad meal here.

Glad we decided to try this restaurant. The restaurant is not big but can seat 40−50ppl comfortably. The place was packed on Saturday evening and the quoted wait time was 45mins-​1hr. We placed our name/​cell# down and walked around the neighborhood. Think 20−30mins later… we got a call saying a table is ready for us.
Our server greeted us promptly and went over the specials (which was an array of options (like 10) on top of the menu). All sounded delish.
We ordered the following:
Appetizers:
1. Fried Calmari — I’m not an olive fan but the combination of the tapenade and garlic aoili made enhanced the perfectly cooked calamari to even better heights.
2. Caesar Salad — saw someone’s review on the salad… and figured we can squeeze some greens. The dressing was creamy and rich in flavor, nicely mixed into the romaine lettuce.
Entrees:
1.Stuffed Pork Chop (from the Special) — stuffed with goat cheese and spinach, served with mashed potatoe, grilled asparagus and carrots. The pork chop was nicely seared on both sides giving it depth.
2. Fruitti di Mare (FraDiavolo sauce «spicy tomato») — heaping amounts of fresh seafood (scallops, calamari, littlenecks, mussels and shrimp), cooked to perfection with the al dente linguine — simply seafood pasta heaven for me.
Desserts (barely was able to squeeze it in but managed):
1. Bread pudding — didn’t realize it was chocolate bread pudding — slightly different from the traditional. It was moist, warm and the whipped cream created more depth in the sweetness.
2. Tiramisu — best one by far! Super flavorful — well balanced between all the ingredients. Plate spotless.
Service was great — server frequently checked back with us and great recommendations. Host was friendly and on top of the waitlist.
Definitely looking forward to go back soon.
