California Exteriors

Totally awful experience!!! Had California Exteriors pour new driveway, walkway, and patio. The patio ruined my artificial grass putting green. The grass next to the new walkway was left with 1ft. deep X 3 ft. long holes. The workers had my neighbors upset with noise, dust, and unprofessional behavior. Promises by sales manager have not been honored and communication, customer satisfaction is low on their list of priorities. Project that was suppose to take a week is now going on 4 months. If they can be rated with less than 1 star, they would get no stars at all. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Well this could have been a four star + rated contractor until I learned about the questionable «warranty». The crew was fast and the job was done in two days. Seems there was a dark side to this though. In only two months a very unsightly crack appeared in a very visual spot. The sales rep sat in my back yard prior to doing the job and told me about their great and long term warranty. So I called to have the crack looked at and mended. I was told that the crack wasn’t really big enough to repair. (right now it is about four feet long and up to an 1/​8′ wide). Many of my neighbors have seen it and are looking at other contractors.
Here is the kicker. When I asked the sales rep what they would do about the crack, his comment was «There are two types of concrete. Concrete that is cracked and concrete that will crack» Sick response! This is a perfect example of «We have your money and now go pound salt»
One more thing. I have e-​mailed the sales rep twice (2) with no response.
On a fixed income we expected more for our $ 10,000.00

I only gave them 3 stars for several reasons. First, what ever coating they spread on our driveway looked good for about one or two weeks before going bad and has only gotten worse with time. They have a very hard working and talented crew, but seem driven to rush everything. They came out a day later than was scheduled and consequently it poured rain and washed away some and messed up the driveway lines. The rain couldn’t be helped, but if they had started on the day scheduled we wouldn’t have had a problem. If you use them, schedule it in the summer (no rain) and make sure the owners come back to see whether you are satisfied… before paying them off totally.

The concrete work was done (driveway, walkway, and concrete perimeter front and backyard). They broke the sprinkler system even though they assured me that they had an «expert» sprinkler person. I had to e-​mail and phone a few times before I got results, and that was after I said I would complain to the CA State Licensing Board and turn them into the IRS. The sprinkler system still malfunctions even though they’ve been out three times. The sprinklers had been worked on by Peninsula Irrigation in the spring to correct and repair. There is a pending complaint with the state for shoddy workmanship.
CA Exteriors do not pay taxes on the money collected (checks made out to, the Project Manager). who told me that they had to pay overtime to the workers which means the workers were paid in cash (if they actually were paid overtime).
