Blast in the Past is… an interesting place, to say the least.
They have a sizable selection of action figures and various toys still in boxes, movies, and music.
This is the infamous store with the «XXX movies 5 for $ 12» signs in the window. I’ve… not… purchased any of these items, so I can’t say anything concerning their selection; but they have them.
However, I have purchased quite a bit of music from here; hands down they have the cheapest music on the east side!
They have mostly cds, and some vinyl. I’ve taken one star off for the cds themselves; I once purchased NIN «The Downward Spiral» from here for $ 2! But remember that awesome digi-​pak that came with the cd? Yeah… I didn’ get that. All that $ 2 bought me was the cd, and nothing else. They have quite a bit of music that’s marked down for this same reason. I’m a big fan of having my collection complete; if this sort of thing doesn’t bother you and you simply want the cd, then this would be the place to look.
But I can’t complain about the bargain discs not having cover art; discs that have cover art are very cheap, $ 3, $ 4, and $ 5. No other record shop can boast such cheap prices!
I would say that bringing your movies or music here to sell is a double edged sword; a lot of places only give you in-​store credit, but Blast in the Past gives out cash, and will take a lot of different kinds of music, and they don’t seem to care about the condition of the disc as long as it plays. The bad part of that is that they don’t pay very much. I remember getting $ 1 per disc with cover art and cd cases.
If you’re looking to unload your collection quickly, then this might be the place to check out. If you’re just looking to trade in some discs to get some new music, you might want to try somewhere else.
