Karen is awesome! I have been coming to Karen since 1999. I left for about a year to go someplace closer … BIG MISTAKE. No one knows my hair like Karen. Karen is very in tune to me and my «hair needs» she really listens and knows what I want, and what to do. I will never leave Karen/​Mane Event again. LOVE KAREN!

Writing this review because of Joe the barber. Very knowledgeable about men’s cuts, great talk while sitting in the chair, took his time spent about 45 minutes with me. He gave me the cut I wanted with no flaws. Job well done

I have been going here for about nine years. Previously I lived in Melrose Park. Since then I now reside in Indiana. Joe Culotta is my barber and he gives a great haircut. I judge a haircut by how long it looks good. Mine lasts six to seven weeks. It’s worth the drive for me to get my hair cut by Joe. Customer for life.

I was in town on business from Utah and stopped into this salon. Needed a quick haircut and didn’t have high expectations. I was extremely happy with the results. Best haircut I have been given in years. Joe was friendly, considerate and extremely talented. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I have curly hair and also color my hair. I will never go anywhere else than the Mane Event! Melissa is truly amazing! She knows exactly how to cut my hair so it’s easy for me to maintain it! I am a girl who is always on the go and doesn’t have a lot of time to do my hair. I am always getting compliments on my color! If you love your hair, you won’t go anywhere else, but here! Great environment, friendly staff that give you what you want for your life style!

Love this salon. Jeremiah & Melissa are the go-to’s for my entire family (including my 8 yr old daughter). They are accommodating and attentive. I go to them for everything; from my oh-​so-​important wedding day hair style to everyday cut & color. You won’t find me getting my hair done anywhere else!

Salon is open until 6:30pm, but beware manicurist «doesn’t stay that late». Very disappointed that business is not accommodating, perhaps as a nail salon it should list it’s real hours of operation!

This salon is responsible for the worst hair cut experience that I have ever had. The stylist was very condescending and distracted by her cell phone which made me extremely uncomfortable through the entire process. She was not respectful of my requests and I really wish that I had gotten out of that chair before she made a mess of my hair.
She bragged about being trained for years under well known stylists (Mario Tricoci and whatnot) and assured me that she had been in the business for over a decade and yet she did not seem to how the first thing about how to deal with curly hair. This resulted in an awkwardly shaped cut that I still have trouble with weeks later. At the end of the cut my hair was still not the length that I had initially asked for so I requested a touch up and she scoffed at me. I said that I did not want a blow dry and she proceeded to do it anyway. I explained how my hair naturally laid and what I wanted and she didn’t seem to believe me and took it upon herself to make her own adjustments. I tried to contact the manager multiple times the following week about my experience and I could not get in touch with him. Never ever again.

Was in town for business and was able to get an appointment with Joe for the same day. Very friendly and great haircut.

I feel guilty that it has taken me so long to write this review, considering how amazing this salon is! I have been going to Karen for 12 years and I will not let anyone else near my hair. I have a very strange mix of curly/​straight/​wavy hair and Karen is the only stylist who has ever been able to not only tame it, but make it look wonderful. I always get compliments. I trust her implicitly. Whenever I go in for an appointment, I am treated like family by the owner, Joe, and the other stylists. I am very lucky that I live nearby, but I would definitely be willing to travel many miles if one of us ever moved! The salon is located in a large complex, and there is free garage parking.

Karen and Joe never cease to amaze. We both went back and let me tell you, there is nothing like great hair that just puts a smile on your face! Chris looks great, and Karen added more highlights to my hair and did the cutest hair style. We weren’t planning to go out that day, but with the new do, I just had to, it was a blast.
Chris and I are getting married in August of this year and we are both so thankful to have found such a fantastic Men’s & Women’s Hairstyling Salon. And the people themselves are just so nice, welcoming and very interesting to talk to. This is only our second time after 3 months and not only do they remember our names, but everything we talked about. You just feel so comfortable talking with either Karen or Joe, and they really listen to you. This place feels like home, well, a home where you get pampered and an incredible looking haircut /​hair color.
There is a reason this place gets high markings and I am so glad I checked Unilocal first.

While not frequenting «Mane Event» as often as I should – I was happy to see Melissa today who turned my Darth Vadar Helmut hair into a «Boardwalk Empire» masterpiece… kudos to Melissa for another job well done…

I love Mane Event! I have been going to Karen there for over 10 years and she’s the best. I constantly get compliments on my highlights. She also really listens. A couple of months ago, I was not able to get in to Karen due to my busy schedule. I tried the Sine Qua Non in Andersonville (which is MUCH closer to me!) and thought it could be my new spot, since it is so much closer. BIG mistake. I was treated like a number and felt like the stylist didn’t really listen to what I had asked her. So, I went running back to Karen! I’m happy to drive from West Rogers Park to Rosemont to see a really professional stylist who does what you ask her to!
