My improv team was doing a show here, and I opted to grab a bite before we were set to warm up. I got the chicken salad-salad. Meh. It wasn’t bad by any stretch of the word. But nothing really impressed me. I had the jasmine pearl tea, which was lovely. Pretty great venue for performances. It’s great that they are supportive of the arts, and also that there is a yoga space as well. If I lived closer I’m sure I’d pop in more often. For now I’m just there for the shows.

New Leaf covers a variety of customers with their yoga, music and the café next door. The Gryphon Café is conveniently connected, which really makes it easy to eat and just walk into the next room with your food/drink. You should double check their hours if you’re depending on them for a late snack, food or drink. I’m pretty sure they close pretty close to music event show times. There was a lot more room than I had expected and plenty of folding chairs, 2 – 4 couches and around 5 small tables for music events. The room was filled with local art portraits. I went to see a jazz show and it was like sitting in my living room. There is also a parking lot because if anyone loathes parallel/street parking it’s this girl. I liked it here enough to sign up for their newsletter for other music shows.

I give this 5 stars for friendliness alone. As soon as I walked into The New Leaf Café, I was instantly greeted by a lovely young woman. She showed me around and let me take pics of the place. They don’t have a huge selection of food, but it’s main focus is on juices/smoothies, yoga, acting classes, late night music performances, Health support and nutrition lectures. The theatre/music room is spacious and the eating café area is too. I like that they offer free wifi. I got a smoothie because they are currently under new management and are changing the juice menu. My blueberry banana on smoothie was unique – but good. The place is a little hard to find, it’s down a little street in between the small shopping development and the Japanese restaurant. It’s just down the road once you make the turn! Then it’s easy to spot – but not off of the main road because the YoCreations Fro Yo building is blocking it

This a really cool place! They have really long hours so its like they’re always open! M-T-W 7:45am to 9pm Th-F 7:45am to 10pm Sat 8:30am to 10pm Sun 8:30am to 5pm The place is very accessible with a huge parking lot and its right next to the Rosemont train station. When I walked in, Joe G and Erica greeted me and gave me a tour! Such nice people! The front area has snacks and drinks. It’s setup like a café, lots of tables and there are even board games if you have time to play! No pressure, you can chill/loiter here all day! There is a patio area with an awning and in the back, there is the main room for performances, movie night, or whatever. It can hold up to 200 people. Then, there is a yoga room. And upstairs, a meeting room that can hold up to 50 people. They have YOGA everyday! And it’s a pay what you want to kind of thing! So, $ 5, 10, 20, whatever! Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 4pm. Tuesday and Thursday at 9am Saturday at 2pm Sunday at 12pm. The yoga room can also be used for classes for meditation, dance, fitness, instrumental and so on. Lots of potential for the future! The main room is great for lectures, recitals, art exhibits, and workshops. They have OPENMICNIGHTS Thursdays 8−10pm. Anyone can showcase their talents. I know my brother was into playing his guitar and singing at Milk Boy so this is like the same thing. Also, Friday and Saturday nights, the have bands come to perform. They also have acting and writing workshops. Since this is a nonprofit, they also love volunteers! Check it out… If anything, it’s somewhere to go if you need to leave the house.

This place has a huge open mic room that reminds me of the old Bryn Mawr Point, but with pleasant and super friendly staff, not stuffy pricks like the Point had. I’m sure I’ll go here frequently but I wish they had a better breakfast selection. Regardless, there’s no other hippie treehugger place like it around right now so it gets the royal star treatment.

I discovered the New Leaf Club n Rosemont which is now operating from the former Smith & Hawkins Garden store because I attended a group meeting here. I have been harping for awhile for the Mainline to get a juice bar and for a new café to open up that promotes healthy eating options. New Leaf is this and SO very much more. New Leaf is a wonderful café but it also is a yoga studio AND they have music performances AND they have an art gallery AND they offer meditation classes. The space is wonderful– the café is separate from the gorgeous, new yoga studio and the performance venue is separate from the yoga room and the café. I am into raw juices and had a fantastic carrot, beet, apple and lemon juice here but they are a full service café with coffee drinks and food. Nice tables. The place was run by happy, warm inviting people. This place is hidden(it is across from the Penndot center) and there is lots of parking lot parking– free. I am so excited and happy about this new café that it deserves 6 stars. Go there! Oh they have a website and it is a non profit place. Maybe there is hope for the Mainline. The New Leaf Club is a step in change and new and fresh mind/body and spirit attitude that this area needs. Thank you!!!
