Stopped by mainly for margaritas which are saltier than average but served in adorable mason jars. Speaking of serving sizes, what’s up with the sizes? Ordered a jack and ginger expecting a Collins’ and got a small glass nearly shot sized glass instead. Anyway, empanadas were tasty, but jalapeño cheese with chorizo dip was watery even after it cooled down.

This place was great, would’ve been better had we not spent 1 hour waiting on our entrees. I’m a naturally hangry person, but waiting that long was unfortunate. Especially when the food was that good and I was salivating at the fajitas my roommate received 10 minutes before the rest of the table. We also waited 10 minutes for our drinks. The manager did come up to us after waiting and apologized. It wasn’t our servers fault, but the chefs downstairs. I’m hoping if I return my experience would be better. We were planning on dinner and a movie but unfortunately missed our movie after spending 2.5 hours there.

Amazing Place! The waiters are so nice and courteous. The food is amazing. They have a lounge if you want to dance, after 9pm. It’s a good place to chill. This is my second time going and I love it. And their Tres Leches is to die for.

Great chimichangas and tres leches dessert. Service for a large group doesn’t work at all. I had a party for my co-workers and was absolutely a big mess. The best thing they have its the pulled pork and they just ran out of it! In the end of the meal, company credit card was not even accepted because of suppose previous frauds at this place.

My boyfriend and I are always looking or new restaurants to try and we love Spanish food. I found this place by searching Unilocal and decided to try it. We came here yesterday and ordered two drinks, a Cubano sandwich, carne asada tacos, and chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were good, but the salsa lacked spice. I had read that many people felt the food lacked flavor so I immediately put hot sauce on my tacos before trying them. Therefore, I can’t say how the flavor was normally, but with the hot sauce the tacos were bangin! My boyfriend really liked the Cuban sandwich, and it came with friends a chipotle type of dip. The dip was very good. I got a margarita and it was really good, as was the drink my boyfriend got. We also got a gummy worm so soaked in tequila for free by checking into Unilocal while we were there. It was pretty good! The reason I’m giving this place four stars is because the tacos were super small and the service was very slow. It took longer than necessary for our food to come out, and we couldn’t find the waiter anywhere when we finished our meal. We had to call over a different waiter and ask for our bill. I’d come here again if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

Awesome sangria and small plates. Happy Hour menu is super good and not too pricy either. Really good and authentic Latin food.

Came here as a group of 4 after purchasing a pretty good deal on groupon. We made a reservation and it was good we did because the Mets game was on so it was packed. The décor is fun and inviting. Much different from the outside of the building, which would be easy to miss if you didn’t know what you were looking for. We ordered the guac and salsa with the house made tortilla chips. Guac was good, salsa was okay, but the chips were amazing! Loved whatever seasoning they were dusted in, and they’re free refills. We also ordered the empanada trio. I only tried the cheese and bean one, but I really enjoyed it. The dipping sauce they come with was too hot for me, so beware if you don’t like hot things. For my main course, I ordered a veggie burrito. Burrito was huge and very good. Generous variety of veggies, mixed with rice, beans and cheese. What’s not to love? My friend got the same thing and enjoyed it, and our fellas ordered fajitas and garlic chicken. No complaints about the food. We also got a free gummy worm shot for checking in, which is basically a gummy worm in a shot glass. Our server was very sweet but a little flighty. Maybe she was having an off day but we needed to remind her several times for things like water and plates. I would definitely come back here. It’s a fun atmosphere with good food and the prices are fair.

Came by Villa last night with my wife after some pretty solid reviews on Unilocal. We were in the mood for Mexican, figured why not? Its location screams authentic — doesn’t stand out; sort of blends in with the surrounding town of Roselle. When you walk in, it’s an awesome vibe: authentic, music, nice tables, and spacious. It’s in between a dive and modern Mexican. Villa does a really good job of setting an a awesome tone for customers. The bar is also nicely lit and looks great. To the food: +We got one free gummy worm shot(gummy worm in a tequila shot) with a Unilocal check in. It was OKAY — just literally a worm placed inside a shot. It wasn’t flavored or anything, so it was definitely harsh to chew on a tequila-flavored gummy worm. Wasn’t sweet. +Chips and Salsa: OKAY. Nothing too unique about them. The chips were kind of bland, and the salsa didn’t taste different. Status quo. +Burrito: Beef. Pretty good. Thick and short, with some GREAT cheese on top. The quality of meat was okay — tasted like a beef pureè. It was a little odd. But it was good.

Excellent… Definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant… Definitely has a Caribbean taste to it… It’s a Friday night and I wanted to have some margaritas and mojitos along with some tequila shots for happy hour… I didn’t feel like going to a Chain restaurant being that a lot of the chain restaurants have happy hour… I wanted something different… I remember passing this place a while back and still remembered that it was located in Roselle so I came to Unilocal to look at the reviews and everything looked so appetizing I just had to give a try… First of all the outside doesn’t do justice to the inside of the restaurant… I’m mad that I didn’t come in here sooner… Service was magnificent… I only wanted to order aappetizers being that I solely just wanted to drink and munch on something like guacamole… But let me tell u, we ended up ordering guacamole which had pomegranate seeds, tostones w ropa vieja uhhhh so good, chicharrones de pollo OMG my taste buds were going crazy. the chicken was marinated just right… Of course I had to order an entrée even if I didn’t finish it… I order tacos of course, it also oooooh so good… For drinks I had a margarita and sangria along with the candy worm infused in tequila… Also I love desserts and had to try their tres leches ahhhhh it was so good it’s unexplainable… BTW… The music in this restaurant was great they had r&b, to house music, to Hispanic, to hip hop and some 90s music … I wish I lived closer. . The food was delicious and u will have a good time … What are u waiting for? GO!!!

Decent food and decent prices. Going in I had no idea the place was a bar. I thought it was a restaurant. The music was little loud but that’s understandable since its a bar and it was a Friday night. I’ve ordered chicken fajita and my SO got the chicken tacos. The food was good. I wasn’t blown away but it was definitely good for a bar. Our waitress was pretty good and our food came out quickly even though the place was packed. Did not receive tequila worm gum upon checking in so don’t waste your time.

My first time here and it was AWESOME! The environment is chill, the food was decent and the service was good. The food gets a «decent» because the flavors weren’t exciting and robust like most Mexican fare — actually… It was a little bland. We had the chicharron de pollo, steak fajitas and the latino chicken caesar salad. Great portions and reasonable prices. Everything including beverages and two candy worm shots came up to just under $ 45. They played a great mix of music. Hip-hop, latin, reggae, R & B — both old and new. The décor is fun & eye-catching. Medium sized venue yet great for groups. Nellie was our server today and she was cool. Attentive but not down your back. Fast and friendly service. She reminds me a bit of the daughter Ashley from Hardcore Pawn. LOL

I had been craving tacos all week and decided to come here to satisfy it. I had read the reviews here on Unilocal and for the most part they were positive. I came here this evening around 5:30 p.m. and there were a few people already dining when I arrived. I was greeted promptly and seated near the bar. The wait staff was helpful and pleasant. The waitress(don’t know her name) asked me if I wanted a drink(tequila) however I declined because I don’t consume alcohol so instead I ordered a Mango/Tea mixed something or other. It was tasty. Now lets get to the food. I ordered chips and salsa and pulled pork tacos. The chips were really good. They were homemade with a little salt and some other type of seasoning. seasoned. The salsa was good too. Now, the pulled pork tacos were way too salty. I understand seasoning the meat for flavor but I believe whoever seasoned the meat was a bit heavy handed. As I stated, the chips were seasoned and had salt on them already but to then eat salty tacos was a bit much. The tacos would have been PERFECT minus the ‘extra’ salt. I didn’t particularly care for the music too much either. They played a lot of rap and some songs with profane lyrics. Today’s rap music is not my cup of tea. However, I wouldn’t allow that to deter me from going back. Overall it was a good experience and I will be back to try something new on the menu.

Food is top notch. The Guac is pretty good, though the menus are sometimes sticky(hint). Drinks are pretty good too, mojito was good. Food is fairly priced. Service was good too, we went on a Saturday evening. We were offered a free shot of tequilla since we were waiting for our food to come.

Was in town for a couple of nights and my cousin and i needed a place to wind down and have a nightcap… this seemed to be the only place open around 1130pm on a friday night. The bar is open until 3am i believe. Call ahead to make sure of the hours. Parking is fine as there is a lot in the plaza that it is located in. The inside is a good size that could seat maybe 40 – 50 people(im just guessing, it could be more!) Fully stocked bar with anything and everything you could want. Music that night was a great mix and my cousin and i were jamming in out seats as each song played. When we arrived we were told that the kitchen would close at midnight so we got our orders in right away. The staff that attended to us were very nice and accommodated to us even though the kitchen was closing soon. We ordered a pitcher of the mango margarita was more than enough for us. We could barely finish it but it tasted really good! Chips and guac — tasty, but the chips tasted a little off but this did not bother us. Calamari and chicharrones — we found the calamari to be a bit salty but again, this didn’t bother us. Carne asada Tacos — very delicious, good amount of fixings on the tacos as well. Grilled Chicken entrée — i cannot remember the name of this but the spices on the chicken tasted really good. The chicken was very tender and not dry. The corn salsa served with it was a great compliment as well as the white rice and plaintains. We enjoyed the food and drinks here and would recommend to anyone in this area looking for some good eats and drinks!

Tried it for lunch after seeing a Living Social deal and am glad I did. Very nice waitress; good empanadas with very zippy sauce; good chicken mole. As others noted, the food takes longer than you expect to appear – there was only 1 other occupied table when I was there, but I took it as a sign they were taking care, rather than rushing things out. $ 10 lunch specials looked worth trying

Villa Tequila Bar Is an awesome place with great food. You may have some wait but its worth it because its made fresh and not pre made then reheated and served. Came in on a Sunday night for drinks and a bite to eat. Started out with some chips and salsa. Was very impressed. They came out fresh from the oven and couldn’t stop eating them. Then for my main course was Salmon Al A Plancha with roasted garlic and spinach. Was flavorful and good. For my drinks yes drinks I had two lol 32 oz margaritas and yes I needed them. Margaritas are Very good and not too sweet. Bar is very well stocked with a lot of very nice choices of alcohol. My server was Stephanie great person very attentive.
