’ Deserving of a 4 star review, but in a mediocre way. It’s supper fresh! They serve up a great $ 10 lunch! Every entrée is a foil bowl of healthy, fill-you-up goodness. That’s about it. Wicked busy lunch rush, and average service. They also sell an odd array of groceries and a few hookahs for purchase. Probably better than Pita Paradise on Schmale Rd because of the freshness factor and better ventilation.

This place isn’t much on the eyes, but this little family owned and operated four table location does have some pretty good eats. Had the small combo plate and ordered it spicy(as another Unilocaler suggested), was pretty good, chicken was a little dry but tasty. Fantastic falafels for sure and the service was above average. We will definitely be back.

Sometimes when you’re having a bad day, a plate of tasty, spicy homemade food will make it all better. And yes, this place is THE place for my favorite shwarma plates and sandwiches. We love coming here because we know the owners(husband & wife, with 2 daughters) are super sweet and they have the best recipe in the area. When all else fails and we’ve no place to go, we always come back to Royal Falafel.

This place fits the bill of the old adage: don’t judge a book by its cover. If you can get past the shoddy strip mall location and the menial interior, you shall be rewarded with some authentic, fresh, delicious food! The wife and I went in for lunch on a Saturday and were blown away with they portion size and quality. Everything is made when you order it… super fresh and über delicious… don’t miss this gem!

I was advised that I had to go on a Mediterranean diet, so we were in the area and we found this gem. We were standing in line and the young man in front of us asked; «Have you been here before?» We said no and he told us «I’m the head chef at the restaurant down the block, but I eat here everyday.» «Everything on the menu is excellent.» My wife and I proceeded to order the Hummus, Jerusalem salad and the Chicken shawarma! All we kept saying through the whole meal was WOW! The Hummus was light, tasty and creamy, the Jerusalem salad was fresh and crunchy and the Chicken shawarma was excellent. They make the food as mild or spicy to order and the people here are the friendliest people ever! They asked if we ever tried their Falafel’s, and when we answered no, they started to bring out different items for us to try! We live an hour a way, but it’s worth the drive for us to come here!

Holy Falafel! That’s what it says on the door and what I said after taking a bite out of my sandwich. The $ 5 falafel sandwich I had for lunch was pretty good. It was filled with tomatoes and cilantro yummy goodness. The lady working the registry was very nice and friendly. They also offer gyro and pop for $ 6. There’s a small grocery section against the wall inside the restaurant.

Outstanding food. Great lunch specials and friendly staff. The only downside to this place is the sign and the lack of marketing. The location doesn’t standout and it’s a hit or miss. I live a block away and didn’t even know this place existed.

It has good food and okay pricing. I may go back but its not a must have kind of place. The food had good flavor. The restaurant was not necessarily the cleanest that I have seen.

If you like middle Easter food then these place is good to go to, no thrills just good food, if you are ordering for one don’t go for large, large can feed a family, price is quite reasonable, portions are generous some times to generous and service is fast

As I type this my tummy is stretched to capacity full of YUMMY combo plate. My husband and I shared a large combo plate — and we had LOTS of leftovers. The combo plate consists of chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, chicken kabob, kefta kabob, rice, grilled tomatoes and onions, two big pita breads, tahini, and a container of Jerusalem salad for $ 14.99!!! I could not believe how much food we got! ANDITWASSUPERDELISH! The chicken kabob was tender, moist, and flavorful(as opposed to dry and bland). We also ordered the Tabbouleh salad — it’s homemade taste overflowed with loving care! Thank you fellow Unilocaler’s for your unwavering accuracy and introducing me to this little gem!

2 stars for friendly service and the 1 meat type– kefta. This place is located in a strip mall with no other significant venues beneficial for me so no star on location. My order cost $ 10.81 and I guess because I didn’t order rice, it wasn’t filling so no star for value. The taste is ok with all the spices and marination but the chicken and beef were over cooked, dry, and chewy, not tender at all. Very bad quality of meat. I liked kefta because of the taste but it was very dry too. I would only come back to say hi to the friendly and sweet lady but not to eat.

This place use to be called«Holy Falafel». Either case, I call it Holy Delicious! I think this place is a lot more flavorful than Pita Inn. I ordered the combo plate and it included rice, beef, chicken shawarma, lamb kabob, pita, a salad, and the usual tahini and hot sauce. All of it was absolutely delicious! The lamb kabob was seasoned perfectly, and the chicken shawarma was nice and tender. And even the filler rice was extremely tasty. J.P. ordered the veggie plate and she said it was tasty as well. Overall, good price, good food, and not greasy, but healthy. I would definitely come here, versus Pita Inn.

As I’m eating this delicious food, I get the urge to leave a review for this small gem if a restaurant. Gyro in one hand, phone in the other. This is my second time eating here and it did not disappoint. Gyro plate, combo plate, and falafel. that humus tho. It’s definitely a good portion a the price is on point. If It’s your first time here I’d suggest the combination plate as it has a variety of meat over rice. As a finally note u must add the couple that run this place is by far the friendliest I have ever encountered as far as management /ownership goes. On the phone and in person, so welcoming and helpful with knowledge and suggestions. A must try.

This is the Mom and Pop of delish Mediterranean food. The owners are so nice! Tonight they offered patrons tea to warm up from the chill. I ordered the Combo Plate(spicy), Vegetarian Plate, and Lentil Soup(= $ 22). + Tahini sauce is AMAZING. Seriously the best thing ever. + Jerusalem salad = so good and fresh + Yummy bread. Not fresh baked, but soft + Lentil Soup was good — very cumin-y — Falafels were tasty, but a bit harder than I like + Portions are good and more flavorful than other Mediterranean places I’ve tried, and I could tell the ingredients are fresh. I get 2 – 3 meals per small entrée. I feel better eating Halal meat, so I might sneak some from the boyfriend’s leftovers. Yum. Totally satisfied.

I love Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food of any kind! I’m so glad a new place has opened up near me. The bf and I checked this place out 20 minutes before they were closing. I really thought/expected that they were going to turn us away and that the food wouldn’t be at it’s best since they were trying to close up-I was wrong! The husband and wife owners welcomed us with open arms and encouraged us to eat in. We asked about the menu, asked about the business, etc. and they were glad to help us. We ordered kefta kebab, gyros, falafel and hummus. The falafel were great, fresh and flavorful and my bf the falafel monster happily chowed them down. The kefta and gyros were also good, as were the sauces that accompanied them. The meat they serve tasted very fresh and was 100% Halal. The hummus was plated beautifully and tasted even better than it looked. There is a random grocery store like shelf selling spices and Middle Eastern canned foods. Most of the entrees are under $ 10 so Royal is pretty well priced for the large portions they offer. If you are a Middle-Eastern food fan like we are Royal is definitely a good option in the Roselle area.

Thanks Janni’s Review of the Day today, I took the turn into the parking lot at Holy Falafel tonight. Bottom line… it was pretty good. Now for the nitty gritty… Teresa greeted me before the door was even closed behind me. Smiling and happy to tell me all about my options. That was a nice start. We took a little menu tour and I decided on the small combination plate. This included a pita, kefta kabob, chicken kabob(even though I don’t think that was listed on the menu, chicken schwarma and beef schwarma with onions, a tomato wedge and a large piece of green pepper served over a bread of rice. The side salad that was included was a really nice size. My son ate that almost immediately and said it was fresh and tasty. The kefta kabob had the flavor I was looking for and it wasn’t overly dry. The chicken schwarma was a little drier. But everything else was really good. You can’t go to Holy Falafel without trying some falafel. Crispy on the outside and large in size with a nice texture inside. I don’t really do the tahini sauce, but that’s all about my pickiness and is not a reflection on their sauce. I don’t eat that anywhere. As a nice treat(and surprise), Teresa put a bit of hummus in the carryout bag for me to try. She was right… I loved that! And yes they have some random things for sale. But most of it was on one shelf on one wall. There were a few items that left me confused, but I’m totally okay with it because the food left me satisfied and convinced we will go back. With our punch card in hand, of course!

This is a nice little Mediterranean place that has a tiny selection of okay combinations with decent pita BUT offers excellent service and a couple of things that will blow your mind on the menu(thus a 4 instead of a 3). Here’s what you’ve got to do: 1) Order the chicken or the beef shawarma(and the hummus!) but order it SPICY. I don’t know what they do to the shawarma(or the hummus) when you order it that way, but it makes it a hundred times better. It’s juicier and obviously spicier, but it’s just overall tastier.(And messier, but who cares about that!) 2) Order the falafel. I know you don’t need 6 of them, but I promise you they are worth it. These are some of the best falafel I’ve had. They also have a punch card here for return customers which I thought was a nice touch too. You can eat-in but there are only a couple of tables so I would recommend taking it to go. They pack everything really well and keep hot/cold stuff separate so you don’t have to worry about coming home to soggy salad. And if you’re a spice freak like I am, they will make sure to toss in extra hot sauce too if you’re nice!

I recently went to my fave Meditterean spot Pita Inn and again was wishing some place like Pita Inn was closer to me. I looked around and found on Unilocal this place. Since it had mostly good reviews I decided to check it out. It’s no Pita Inn however the food portions for their large size is literally just that. I ordered a combination plate and chicken shawerma entrée and I have enough food to last for at least four meals. I do like that they pack the salad(chopped cucumbers and tomatoes) in a separate container. I enjoyed every bite of the dishes and especially love the yogurt sauce that comes with your food. I would say that I wished they chopped up the peppers, tomatoes, and onions that come with the dishes but aside from that, the food was tasty. Also the owner was very nice. She asked if it was my first visit and I told her yes, so she gave me a card where basically if you order ten times, you get a free sandwich. That’s definitely a good incentive to return. They have a small seating area in case you want to eat at the restaurant and even had some random groceries on another wall, in case you were missing a spice or a condiment. I’m glad I found this place. Can’t wait to try their gyros.

Really, this should be about a 4.75. The falafel is amazing(and gluten free… I asked, because sometimes it isn’t, depending on how it’s made). The large combination plate includes rice, beef and chicken shawarma, lamb kufta, a pita, a salad of your choice, tahini, and hot sauce(if you want). It’s enough to feed two people, possibly even for two meals. They pack the salad separately from the hot food, so it stays cold. It’s all very tasty, moist, and wonderful! The people here are super nice and friendly, too. So glad this place opened in my neighborhood(you can probably tell from my check-ins, haha)! :)
