So here’s the break down by time and cost, you can judge for yourself: 8:58pm I called Locks 24 by 7 requesting a locksmith to come to my house(was locked out after forgetting keys). Was told it would be a $ 25 service call + $ 40 to unlock the door. This sounded reasonable so I said to go ahead with it. Was told the locksmith would call shortly to confirm address. 9:16pm Manager from Locks 24 by 7 calls and confirms my address and says I should expect the Locksmith to arrive within 15 – 25 minutes. He also indicated the Locksmith may call to confirm my address. 9:29pm Locksmith calls and confirms address. Says to expect him there in 25 minutes. 10:28pm I call the Locksmith and ask if there is an issue. Evidently he was stuck at another job, but assured me he would be at my place by 11:00pm. 11:04pm Locksmith calls to say he will be at my place in 5 minutes. 11:10pm Locksmith arrives. The Locksmith indicates it will be a $ 15 base fee + $ 75 House call fee + an additional charge of $ 170 if he has to drill the lock to open it as opposed to picking it. After about 2 minutes of trying various keys, the Locksmith indicated he would need to drill the lock and that this would ruin my existing lock. I said to go ahead with this and after 10 minutes of switching drill bits, drills, and drilling the Locksmith was able to disable the lock on my front door and open the door. The Locksmith then added the charges and, after including taxes, my bill came to $ 299. Additionally the Locksmith indicated for $ 90 he could install a new door lock. I said I had the dead bolt for now and would install a door lock on my own. He then indicated he could drop the price to $ 50 and then to $ 40 if I could pay in cash. I did not have enough cash and felt the dead bolt would suffice my needs so I said no thank you. Now does the $ 65 charge I was told it would cost equal the $ 299 charge I paid? I’ll let the reader decide. I know one might ask why did I agree to pay $ 299 to get in my house when I was told it would be $ 65 initially? The reason is because at 11:30pm at night when its raining, cold, and you have been locked out of your house for 2.5 hours; you really just want to get in your house. My advice is to be careful and wary of scamming if you are considering this company as a locksmith.
