There are so many thrift stores here on the Island… do you really know where your donations go? or if you buy something do you really know where the money is going? Their cute little shop has been here for many years its right on Hawkins ave and looks like a house run by a super friendly shop keeper and her staff now here is one reason to donate your items here they stay here and are sold here for the profit of Options and Options helps Long Islanders *(Options for Community Living, Inc. provides housing, support services, and care coordination for people recovering from mental illness and those living with HIV/AIDS or other chronic health conditions. Many of the people we serve were formerly homeless. Options is a private not-for-profit agency, operating on Long Island since 1982. Our goal is to help each program participant and family find stability, improved health and the tools to build productive self-sufficient lives as community members.)*taken from their website The shop is just one of their services. As a non-profit organization, Options is doing a lovely thing having volunteers run the shop as an opportunity for people to learn basic customer service skills. The woman at the register was extremely friendly so A+ in customer service. As far as selection and pricing goes, the inventory is very small as the shop is quite small.(No more than 5 racks of clothing) HOWEVER, it is a nice place to shop because you know your money is going to a good organization instead of a for-profit thrift store. My friend got a shirt for ~$ 5. We went on a day where most things were ½ off. Pricing would have been quite expensive had we not gotten the 50% off. The selection is geared toward older women. They carry nifty household items as well. I bought a really cool necklace though for $ 3!
