Bad would be an improvement. Bland and extremely greasy. The bartender was nowhere to be seen and it took forever to get our drinks. Like someone else posted«I should have just left when we walked in and saw just two people at the bar and no bartender.

We were pleasantly surprised. The vibe is kind of weird, like they really want to be a bar but everyone there just wanted Mexican food. My fajitas were well seasoned and moist and my friend liked her combo a lot. It was good and well priced.

Stopped in for Cinco De Mayo, first time there. The margaritas on special were straight margarita mix, absolutely terrible. The food wasn’t even good. The rice was dry with no flavor. The beans came straight from a can. The $ 5 cheese dip was obviously Velveeta melted in the microwave. On the bright side, the chicken quesedilla was decent. But our server just couldn’t get it together with the order or the bill. Not worth the money we paid. Definitely will not be back.

My wife had a bad experience while ordering some tostados today. She went over the carry out order 3 times with the waitress. When she rung it up it appeared she was having trouble operating the cash register. When it came out something told her to check it. It was Tacos that a customer had called in while my wife waited. They got our orders mixed up. So she has to wait for them to redo the order another 20 minutes. She gets home and I start eating and I realize there was no meat on my 4 Tostados but we were charged for meat. All she said was 7 Tostados, 3 minus beans. Restaurant is near her job in Romulus we live 16 miles away in Ypsi. Owner calls us 3 hours later and offers a 10% discount on next order. The food was mediocre with no Mexicans in sight. Taco Bell would have been a better bet.

First time trying this place out. Figured since my husband and I live so close, we’d give it a try. The chips and salsa were blah. We ordered a pitcher of margarita and also dinner #5& #9. The food was a lil greasy but still ok. Pouring our 2nd glass of margarita, we found fruit flies. Server replaced it with a new pitcher & as I went to fill our glass, there goes another few so I decided to inspect my water and there goes another one. The server asked if we wanted it taken off our bill or have something else so since they were 0 – 2, we passed. Guess we’ll be driving a lil further for Mexican food next time.

Have recently moved our office to Romulus. We ordered lunch here today and it was great! This will be our new office lunch go to!

Being from Texas, we were looking for and found this excellent restaurant. The fajitas were delicious, with wonderful flavor and great portions of meat, onions and bell peppers. The enchiladas also were very good and the rice was cooked perfectly. We were also pleased with about as good of a margarita as we have found anywhere. Maybe we were lucky, but our little college bound waitress could teach some veteran waitresses a lesson. She was very sincere, describing the food, drinks and prices.(Way to go Karen… Your boss needs to hear this!) I have no idea why there weren’t more customers, because if I live near the Romulus(DTW-Detroit) Airport, I would be a loyal customer! 5-STARS ***** D Mayes… Sweetwater, Texas

Food is alright. Not great, but not bad. Restaurant is usually not busy. Service is friendly enough. They never have takeout menus when we ask. We would go more often if they offered a takeout me u we could from at home. There is definitely better Mexican nearby at a better price but this is conveniently located.

No alcohol, no Margarita. Food was marginal, i would have to rank Taco Bell better(sorry, taco bell). When i walked in and i saw no one else in the restaurant, it should have been a clue.

Was there last night with a party. The service was extremely slow. The waitress got my drink order wrong twice. We waited a long time for our food. It was not busy at all. My food was the last to be served, most everyone was almost done eating. The waitress couldn’t seem to remember who ordered what. The bartender was good. I won’t be back.

Great food. I am from California so to me it is hard to come by some really good AUTHENTIC Mexican food. Until I found El Mexicano. Love their food and their prices are great too. Everything taste homemade(not reheated or frozen)! It is never really busy in there so a nice place to have a nice quite dinner with great food and great prices!

Slooooooooow service. Watery horchata that just tasted like cinnamon water. Small portions, but i guess that’s a blessing. Not sure why it took so long to get my food. It tasted like it had been sitting around all day. Yuck.

Went for the first time the other day as we had always commented on it as we drove by. I got the burrito/enchilada lunch. The beef was a bit salty and overcooked, but in all, it tasted good. My fiancé got a chicken quesadilla and this is where this restaurant shined. The chicken was absolutely fabulous. Juicy, succulent, and cooked just right. Paired with the delicious rice(seriously top 5 mexican rice I’ve ever eaten) the meal was great. Service has its ups and downs but nothing to truly complain about. Definitely a place to go and try. (P.S. they only have one size carryout box and if you order something too large to be fit in it, they will not bother making the large item and make one that fits in to-go. Still charge you for the large though. Don’t recommend carry out!)

My wife & I gave El Mexicano a try this afternoon and I’m glad we did. It’s less than 3 miles away from our home, and we love mexican. We were coming home from a weekend of camping and were both hungry… usually it’s the game of you pick, no you pick, but for some reason as soon as we seen this place we agreed. Lol. It was very slow, and the wait staff was super friendly and ready to serve. The waitress quickly brought out chips and salsa and took our drink orders. The chips were fresh and the salsa was very good and fresh. I ordered the dinner order chicken fajitas and my wife got the Combo steak and chicken fajitas. They came with your typical side of corn/flour tortillas, refried beans, Spanish rice, sour cream, guacamole and pico de gallo and shredded lettuce. Both dishes came out hot, fresh and tasted great. The proteins, both chicken and steak came out perfectly cooked to perfection and the peppers, onions and tomatoes where perfectly sautéed also… Overall, very good, filling and a diamond in the rough. They said when they opened earlier this year business was good, but has really tailed off as of late. You should give them a try, I know we will be back again. :)

Worth a try. Had my doubts, but it’s actually pretty good. Staff works hard and are friendly. Building looks like it may have been a nightclub at one time. Prices were fair. Food was authentic. Not Tex-Mex.

Went to dinner on mothers day. There was a pretty good crowd. The first thing that surprised me was the music… it was blaring… to the point we couldn’t hold a conversation at dinner. Some people were up dancing so who am I to complain. We ordered queso flamedo which usually comes cooked with chorizo, onion and peppers… it was cheese… that’s it, they did set it on fire though, that was nice. I had the fajitas with steak, chicken and shrimp, it was pretty bland and WAY over cooked I had to scrape it off the cast iron platter. My daughter had chicken chimis she also said they were bland, same with my husbands cheese enchiladas. Our waitress was great and on point. But I doubt we will go back.

Went on Cinco de Mayo and was surprised how quiet it was. Hopefully business will pick up, because they’ve done a nice job updating the place. The food was fresh and pretty good, although everything I tried could have used a little more flavor. Ordered the medium botana appetizer, which was a generous size. Was disappointed that it didn’t include meat, olives or sour cream(the waitress didn’t know exactly what was on it). It did have chips, beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, avocados and jalapenos. Very good, but would have been great with some seasoned beef or even sausage(which Nibble Nook in Farmington uses and is fantastic, although I haven’t been there in years). Got the enchilada and burrito lunch combo. One was supposed to be chicke and the other beef and both came with chicken. Again very good, but if the chicken had been sauteed with some onions and peppers it would have been even better. My sister ordered the Speedy Gonzales lunch combo, which was a beef taco and chicken enchilada. She agreed that it fresh and good, but more seasoning would have made it great. Overall we were happy. I think with a little time and experimentation on the part of the chef this place has great potential.

Was excited to find out a new restaurant was opened in Romulus as there are not many to choose from currently. We ordered carry out for the office and everyone was very happy with their food. They included some chips and salsa with the order which was nice. Enchiladas suizas were very good. Next time I will have to try dining in.
