I love the turkey joints but the shop and customer service left a lot to be desired. The staff seemed miserable and the shelves were poorly stocked and you wouldn’t know they even had turkey joints because they store them under the counter. The shop had multiple signs that basically said shut up and pay or get out as well as pro-gun signs. A candy shop hardly seems the place for this sort of signage. The entire experience made me uncomfortable. I’ll still buy their candy but I’ll buy it at the local grocery store instead where customer service means something.

Ok, I completely concur with most of what Mike T. had to say in his review. My review & rating is mostly about the candy ‘Turkey Joints’ itself vs Nora’s Candy Shop cause those are separate items for me. First, if you like chocolate & nuts, you’ll LOVE Turkey Joints… they are the ‘best long lasting candy 2 curl up with a good book & settle in for a good read’ or whatever, they’re just delish. And anyone over the last(90) years within throwing distance of Rome NY, is intimately acquainted with these chocolate lovelies which were a staple in my Grandmothers’ home @ Christmastime. Don’t hesitate to lay down the jack for ‘Turkey Joints;’ they’re worth every penny! Now onto Nora’s Candy Shop itself. Im from the Albany NY area with reason to travel to Rome approx 2xs a year & usually stop into Nora’s Candy Shop for a TJ run. In the way of constructive input, don’t expect some cute quaint candy store staffed with bright happy people mimicing Santa’s elves… it & they are not either. But this IS a candy store filled with product that practically sells itself so I don’t understand why it or the employees don’t reflect that joy… which was my experience today while shopping & has been so for the last 2 years of stopping in. The store could use a fresh coat of paint, maybe some brighter lighting & a tee up on the customer service as well. Also it should be a real asset for a business to brag about a popular product with the history & longevity that comes with ‘Turkey Joints.’ However our server didn’t have a clue nor did she seem particularly interested. In marketing, we call that a missed opportunity. Please don’t hesitate to check out Nora’s Candy Shop as the products are awesome… its just the ambiance that needs a little work!

Turkey Joints! What are they? Some kind of giant turkey leg you’d get at the Renaissance Fair? Maybe a weird part of the turkey my Grandpa never carved at Thanksgiving? Before visiting Nora’s, that was my question, too! It turns out Turkey Joints are a delicious candy that come in a jar. They are a blend of chocolate and Brazil nuts covered with a sweet silver coating. The silver coating looks almost inedible. but it is. it really is. They are incredible. Make sure to ask about the different kinds available. There are about 6 or 7 different Turkey Joint versions to choose from, including peanut butter & coconut. Nora’s candy shop is just off the main drag in Rome, with a large neon sign broadcasting their famous candy. The store itself is just like any other candy store., with display cases filled with every chocolate shape imaginable. The kind lady working the store let us taste-test many of the different confections. The prices are high, but the quality is amazing. Be prepared to spend quite a bit. we racked up a $ 40 bill. The turkey joint containers alone are $ 16+ each, and there is only about a dozen or so sticks in the jar. Most everything else in the store was sold by weight. The only reason I’m holding back the 5th star, is the price alone. I understand that all of the candies here are homemade in house, but it did seem a bit high. All in all, a great little shop to check out if you’re passing through! These candies are locally famous & for good reason! I actually couldn’t believe this place hasn’t been reviewed yet, so take my word for it & stop by!
