Went for a three day stay in the Cottage located on the property. Chris and Holly were wonderful hosts, always making sure we had everything we needed and Chris was very helpful in directing us to items of interest in the town. The cottage itself is homey, nice for either a family or for people who like to have a bit more privacy. When we looked at the rooms inside the giant main house we were surprised how large they are, the pictures don’t do them justice. They all have private LARGE bathrooms as well which is different from many bed and breakfasts we’ve been to. Usually the baths attached to rooms are smaller, not here! You will be very happy with the accommodations whether you choose the cottage or one of the beautiful rooms inside the main house. The Claremont House itself is a gorgeous old dame of a house. Nooks and crannies are filled with older, period furniture and knick knacks galore. You will have a great time just looking at all the neat stuff and pictures. The dining room is grand with super high ceilings… maybe 30 feet? Eating breakfast there and chatting with the other guests was a highlight for us, we got to know them and it was truly charming. Just in case you don’t think there’s a lot to see in Rome, you are wrong. We saw tons of stuff from Myrtle Hill Cemetery to the Clock Tower, to the Forum near the Riverwalk. Three rivers converge here and the scenery is beautiful. We even had a huge thunder storm with tons of rain one night and it was unforgettable. We don’t get those much in Southern California. Inside the cottage there is a full kitchen should you decide to eat in. We did one night but mainly used it as a receptacle for our many leftovers from all the great BBQ places; try Olé Tymers no matter what, you won’t be sorry! Other memorable places include Yummy Thai Kitchen(on Broad street) and Partridges… which was closed when we tried to eat there. Next time. The local grocery stores were well-stocked and the staff was very friendly and helpful to our needs. The Claremont House also is home to many cats and they are friendly, too. In fact, the cottage is ‘pet friendly’ and if you choose the cats can come inside and visit with you. The cottage has some pretty steep stairs to the second floor(with two more bedrooms) but we didn’t use those as we were alone. The downstairs king size bed is made up with high thread count linen and is so comfortable, you won’t realize you aren’t home. Complete with flatscreen TV and wifi you can bring work/school with you if you are not able to leave it at home. Of course, I recommend not bringing that with you but sometimes it is unavoidable. All in all a wonderful place to spend a few days, family friendly(and even pet friendly) and their prices are quite reasonable. Check out their custom made coffee cups with their name on the front, you will love them!

The girlfriend and I stayed here last night and it was wonderful. I think we were the only ones there other than the owners. Chris was super nice and tried to give us ideas for dinner, but being a sunday, other than chains, everything was closed. The house and the room was beautiful. Lot’s of little things made the stay nice and seems like they have thought of everything. Breakfast was good and coffee was wonderful. They even have pet friendly rooms and so we were able to bring our baby along which was an added treat. We had a great time and will definitely be back. Thank you

Spent our engagement evening here. It was a surprise by my fiancée. It’s a quaint, north GA100+ year old home. You feel like you are going back into time when you step in the house. You are warmly greeted by a sweet cat or two. Upon entry there is a huge bank vault currently filled with games. The place is warm and inviting. The bedroom is romantic and welcoming. All the«little things» you’d want in your B&B bedroom. Water pressure was great! Chris and Holly were wonder hosts. Breakfast was delightful. Coffee might be the best around. A very very romantic place. We will certainly be back.

We stayed in the two-bedroom cottage at the Claremont House Bed & Breakfast with two of our best friends. The cottage was wonderfully quaint and delightful. The downstairs bedroom had a super comfortable King size bed. The upstairs bedroom had a lovely double bed. The shared bathroom was a good size for an older home. The cottage also had a full kitchen, which could be used to save money on eating out, though if you’ve never been to Rome, that might be hard to do. The inn keepers and staff will give you lots of recommendations for great places to eat in historic downtown Rome. Cards describing various aspects of main house and the furnishings are scattered around both floors. The highlight of the main house for us was the amazing bank vault in the main hallway. The current owners have filled the vault with board games for those looking for leisurely way to while away the hours. A+++ * * * EditDelete Reviews from around the web
