Well I had a chance to check out Ginny’s Supper Club last night. First they charge $ 14.95 per person for the«Buffet». For Rollingstone that seemed a little excessive, but OK. I should have known better when I saw the salad bar. This place has really gone down hill since we were there 10 years ago. We arrived at 6:30 and we were seated right away. We were asked if we wanted the buffet or something from the menu. We chose to look at the menu and based on the prices we thought that we would try the buffet. We did not choose wisely. To start with the soup was warm at best. If it was hot it would have probably been good. There was very little lettuce to make a salad and there never was anyone to replenish the lettuce. Other salads were typical of a salad bar. The dinner rolls were wrapped up in a bag and somewhat dry. When we got the the hot foods we were less impressed. The food obviously the food had been sitting all day/afternoon. But that could be overlooked if the food was still good. Not so much. The baked fish was OK but the backed chicken was so dried out that I could hardly cut it with a knife. The vegtables were so overcooked that you could have mashed them up like potatoes. The fried shrimp were warm, maybe, and I didn’t want to try the fried fish. The meatballs although warm, were precooked someplace other then the kitchen. They did have deserts but they also had been out all day and were dried out. The waitress, although attentive when we sat down, became more of a busboy then a waitress. My only fault was not telling her so when we paid our bill. I know Blondie B. appeared to be a disgruntled employee but she way spot on about the food. I would stay away from this place unless you are into overpriced bad food. What a shame there food used to be good.

To balance things out, I needed to write at least one one-star review. Ginny’s Supper Club fits the bill. Let’s see, where to begin. Eating at Ginny’s was probably the worst dining experience I ever had in SE Minnesota. Or anywhere, really. I can only imagine it’s the nicest place in town – it was certainly priced that way. The atmosphere was downright unwelcoming, what with the other patrons staring at us pretty much the whole night, without any justifiable cause aside from our not being Rollingstone locals. In addition to this, our server was as inattentive as she could be without being entirely absent. She took so long to bring us menus that I suspect she forgot about us for a while. After that we saw her twice for the order(see below), once to get our food and drinks, and once for the check. There were perhaps 7 other tables to handle that night and a buffet being picked at by a number of them, and she made plenty of stops to chat up the locals. I don’t care to make small talk, but the obligatory«How’s everything?» would’ve been nice. As for the food, well done describes only the degree to which my steak was brutalized. I ordered it medium rare. If it hadn’t already taken them the better part of an hour to screw up my order once, I would’ve been more open to giving them a chance to do it again. Who knows? Maybe they’d get creative and find a different angle to prepare the food in a way I hadn’t ordered it. Also, apparently the meals came with a choice of potato, which wasn’t on the menu AND wasn’t brought to our attention until 10 minutes after we’d placed our orders in the first place. I could go on, but Ginny’s isn’t worth it. There were at least 3 moments where I was tempted to just get up and walk out. This kind of service on a slow night is inexcusable, no matter where you go. Any *one* of these things at another restaurant would be small and likely insignificant, but Ginny’s pulled out all the stops and made sure that everything that could go badly for us did. If I could give this place zero stars I would. It’s the only place in recent memory that deserves it.
