Based on all of the positive reviews, we figured we’d give this a try. Sadly, we ended up rather disappointed and underwhelmed. I went with a slice of the French silk and my wife had the key lime. The French silk had a stiff consistency and nowhere near«silky» or creamy like one would expect. It was more like a fudge in many ways and had a grainy sort of texture to it. The pie flavor itself was just ok — probably affected by the consistency. The edge on the crust appeared to be too perfect which leads me to believe that it’s not homemade and rather a «store bought» type instead. This was fairly well confirmed by the lack of taste and the hardness. My wife liked the flavor of her key lime. However, her pie ended up as a gooey«melted» blob rather than a slice after a short time. Not sure how or why that happened but seemed very odd. We really wanted to like this place after reading great reviews and seeing the pictures of seemingly delicious pies, but I wish we had saved the $ instead.

Been here twice and both times, very disappointed in their pies. They look pretty but quality of pie and its crust just isn’t that good. I’ve had a cream and fruit pie between the 2 visits and I absolutely dislike the coffee.

I have never heard of this place but after a recommendation by two people after dinner at Matts steakhouse almost half of our group decided to visit this place and indulge in dessert. I am not a big dessert person so kept it basic and ordered a slice of Dutch Apple pie. Now on to the review: 1. This place is tucked away and located next to a Laundromat and dry cleaners. Parking is limited which may be an issue during the day but around 8pm it wasn’t an issue. At first glance it looked a «hot mess» from the outside. Upon entry you an instantly determine this place has been there for a while and elderly are involved in some way: cake display filled with storage of random items, paper dollie place mats, 70s mirror accent wall, clutter walkway/storage you pass by if going to the restroom(would recommend this be a staff only restroom due to the atmosphere leading to and inside), an older stale smell is noticeable immediately when you walk inside and the tables and chairs are dated. 2. The two ladies who took our orders or assisted were very friendly. You have an option to get a half slice of pie since the whole slices are large. They will suggest getting a whole slice for 80 cents more which is $ 5 and change. You can request the pie is warmed up and 1 scoop of ice cream is served in a large styrofoam cup… Way beyond one scoop. Only CASH and CHECKS accepted. 3. This place is opened until 10pm and while we were there the customers were rotating in and out the entire time. Everyone except us, ordered to go. Would highly recommend«to go» ordering at this location. 4. Everyone in the group was highly satisfied with their pies of various flavors. The Dutch Apple pie that I ordered was good. The apples tasted freshly peeled and not canned. The pie crust was tasty but the top crust was not as sweet as I’d like. Overall it was pretty good.

I heard mixed reviews so decided to try it out for myself. The slices were large and enough to take home half for later. The cashier was friendly and nice. There’s a large selection including cheesecakes. I ordered the cherry pie and although it was good it didn’t taste as fresh as I was hoping. Then i overheard an employee tell a customer that the ingredients were from a can as opposed to fresh ones. Overall it was decent but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

I think this place should focus on quality ingredients rather than monster truck size pies. We stopped in last summer, and ordered key lime, lemon meringue and cherry. My favorite pie is lemon meringue, and both the key lime pie and the lemon meringue had a medicinal, artificial flavor – terrible and inedible. The cherry pie was pretty decent. The actual space needs an overhaul. It’s not inviting at all. I’d rather have a pie that tastes great, than have a giant pie that doesn’t taste very good. I’d like to see them re-develop their cream pie recipes, so that they don’t taste artificial or paste-y.

Best place near Fort Leonard Wood to get pie. Coffee is great as well, not too strong nor weak. Workers are amazing down to earth kind of people. Key lime pie is the way to go(at least for me)!

Update to three stars! I decided to give them one last chance to impress me with their pie, and they came MUCHCLOSER this time. We got two«half» slices(each of which could have been enough for the two of us alone), one of Boston Cream, and one blackberry crumble. Both were recommended by the chipper young girl at the counter. Despite being from Boston(ok, the suburbs) I don’t think I’ve actually had a Boston Cream pie in non-doughnut form before. It was GOOD! There was a good balance between the rich, fatty cream and the sweet chocolate frosting, and the yellow cake in the middle brought it all together. I would eat that pie again. The blackberry was also good, although Boo complained that it had too many seeds — go figure. Looking at the slice, I thought that the crumble topping might have overwhelmed the fruit, but it actually worked out ok. It probably could have benefitted from some cool whip or cream, but was perfectly fine as is. I think now that I know that they can make some ok pies, I can feel ok leaving my review at 3 stars and never coming back. Pie really isn’t that hard to make, and mine is waaay better. :) Especially when I keep my rhubarb pie strawberry-free!!! PS. I was happy to find that they use paper cartons instead of styrofoam. Good job! Too bad the recycling people wouldn’t take it!

Simply the best product with friendly high school and college age staff. Not much room inside but we take whole pies home anyway so no impact. Thank you for overachieving.

A rolla staple! You have to stop here if you’re in town, or just out with friends. Great selection of pies, HUGE portions, and all tastes great! They even have a nice lunch menu. However, they only take cash, which seems pretty odd given how ubiquitous debit cards are these days.

A little slice of heaven! I had the chicken and mushroom pot pie. Delicious! The crust was light and flaky. The serving was huge! For dessert I had the sugar free blackberry pie. It was on the tart side, but combined with sugar free ice cream, it was the perfect combination! One of my travel mates had the sugar free peach pie. It was heavenly! The lemon meringue was also ordered by another travel mate. It exceeded our expectations. The serving sizes are huge. I recommend you share a slice of pie!!! I will definitely stop here again! The restaurant itself is very small. Maybe 8 tables total. The décor is rather lackluster. The bathroom is less than expected. It is in the same room as the heating/air unit and the hot water. Neither of which are enclosed.

We drove around and around trying to find this place and nothing was there, just pry store fronts. Maybe we’re just idiots. Regardless, if a place is this hard to find I feel like it’s not worth it.

Drove over 100 miles to walk into a dump. Most disgusting place I’ve ever seen. Hasn’t been cleaned in years if not decades. Walked in and walked back out w mouths wide open. How the hell does this place have good reviews.

Sadly, It took only my second visit not to return. Me and my boyfriend stopped in around 8:45(they close at 10) for a couple pieces of pie for the road. We ordered one slice of toll house a la mode(with ice cream) and one key lime a la mode(the first time we had them, both were pretty dang good-so we were excited for the return) The staff was a bunch of caddy young girls who seemed flustered and irritated by our order. They basically threw the to go bag at me. We didn’t check the bag until we got home, when we sadly realized there was NO Ice cream, the slices appeared under-sized, and the toll house was cold and tough. We were SO disappointed. The worst part is that I spent 14 dollars. FOURTEEN dollars on two small lifeless slices of pie with no ice cream. I think this place has great potential, with a friendlier staff.

I admit, I had high hopes. After reading the reviews, my mouth was watering in anticipation of the strawberry-rhubarb pie, but I was disappointed with how dry the crust was and how the filling didn’t really seem to fill the pie at all. I thought that if a shop specialized in pie, the crust would be flaky, buttery, and all around delicious. But it wasn’t. In fact, I’ve had better crusts come from a Pillsbury can. My fellow Unilocalers don’t usually lead me astray, but this time they let me down. The teenage girls at the register seemed too preoccupied to acknowledge that I was standing there waiting to order, and I literally stood right in front of them for over 5 minutes before either of them even bothered to look at me. And they only take cash or checks. What business in 2015 doesn’t take credit cards?

You rarely ever see small, quaint little bakeries like this anymore. On a Unilocal-guided trip here, as we passed through Rolla, wowed. The parking situation is bad and the location itself isn’t too hot, but this place has the substance to make up for that. We got dinner and dessert takeout. I got the bacon quiche, which is absolutely to die for. I ordered the Toll House pie for dessert, which was pretty fantastic as well. It was a little too rich for me, but that’s because the portions are huge. You get a lot for your money. I recommend it enthusiastically.

In one word, AMAZING! The strawberry crumb pie was unbelievably good. The best pie I have ever had! The two young lady’s working were a delight.(Libby and Caroline) All around great experience! If you are in Rolla, you have to stop here!

I’m not usually a big pie fan, but when my husband brought me to his little hometown of Rolla, his sister told me we had to go. She also recommended the French Silk pie. I am so glad I listened to her! It’s a little tiny place that you probably wouldn’t even notice while driving by, but the pie is just so good! I’ve only tried the French Silk and the Oreo Cheesecake so far, but it’s on our ‘must visit’ list for every trip back to see the family. Stop by and try it — you won’t be disappointed. You’ll be full, but not disappointed!

I can only come up with four reasons to go to Rolla: 1) you want to study engineering; 2) you’ve confused it with a different place; 3) a car broke down; 4) you want pie. Frankly, if it’s 1 – 3, you should just stop here anyway. It’s unassuming, located behind a laundromat, and only takes cash. But, dang, order almost anything on the menu and you’ll be glad you did. Prior to eating here, I might have thought spending 50+ bucks on a sampler platter was a bit on the side of gluttonous(in addition to glutinous, I suppose). I still think that, but I really want it. And I don’t mean for a party with a dozen people.
