Now I’m very curious on how Unilocal decides to pick and choose which review get to stay and which gets filtered out. I saw many of the ones thst were filtered out were mainly negative or one stars. Well I had a bad experience here and I’m giving them a one star and I’m hoping it will not get filtered out! I’ve always been to Dr. Ben Len in San Rafael and he has always been amazing, trustworthy and honest. He doesn’t go out of his way to overcharge his patients. But we moved so I had to find a new place and I found this place and they accept our insurance. I had been in here a few times and after looking over the insurance information regarding billing I noticed I was being charged over 350 for a cavity for my child. The thing is I have insurance but it only pays up to a point but if this office keeps overcharging me for everything, the rest I have to pay out of pocket for. I looked at my previous bills from my previous dentist and it cost me less than 250 for a cavity. I told two of my girlfriends that also tsje their kids here about it and now they too are paying attention to their bills. One friend has found a new dentist and she noticed he also charged way less! The dentist was nice here though and I don’t have anything negative to say about her. But I’m just giving people a heads up about their billing especially if you have insurance. Ask them before you go in about how much they charge for a check up, xrays and a cleaning or any other services they offer.

I was extremely nervous about taking my son to the dentist as it was his first time and I honestly did not think he would allow anyone to look in his mouth HOWEVER Dr. Jamie is a miracle worker. Without too much fuss she managed to look into his mouth, check his teeth and show us how to brush his teeth without using the wrestling move!
The environment is fantastic to make kids feel comfortable, I wish we had places like this as a child! And the staff were sweet enough to send me a photo and «1^st time at the dentist» certificate after his appointment.

Dr. Jamie is a wonderful and warm woman. She treated my children very well, got them through the treatments with ease and it’s clear she is great with kids. Her skills as a dentist are moderate I would say. Some of the fillings were not done well and fell out and have to be done over. She also created a gap in my youngest childs tooth since her teeth are crowded and the gap is uneven and jagged. My daughter complains that the tooth is «spiky.» Thankfully, it’s a baby tooth and will fall out.
The main issue I have with this dentistry practice is that they did not handle their insurance and billing properly. They thought my insurance covered flouride twice a year and I ended up with a large bill for the service. The manager was extremely disrespectful to me and said essentially the following:
1) it’s the patients responsiblity to know their coverage
2) it was my responsibility to argue the point with my insurance
3) he was willing to «generously» lower the cost by half (still a huge profit on a service that takes less than 3 minutes)
They do not clearly communicate with you what you will be paying and will ask you to «try» things like nitrous during a difficult visit without explaining that nitrous might not be covered. They say they can «only go by what was written down when the staff called the insurance company» and then also say it’s my responsiblity to pay for something either a) the insurance company told them incorrectly, or b) they wrote down wrong.
When you challenge them, they tell you «it’s not my fault you weren’t paying attention.»
Disrespectful, greedy, shameless, and on top of it… they think they are «being very generous.»
They have lost another 3 patients due to their own greed.
If you are someone with an endless supply of money and you want a sweet dentist, you will have no problems here. If your family budget is tight and you like to know what you’re getting into, run away.

I was referred to this office by a friend who had a great experience with Dr. Jamie. My son has had some basic dental work in the past but we’ve recently moved and needed a new dentist for him. I was able to get an appointment very quickly. The office is very kid friendly with a toys and cars and even a princess play house. The dental assistants are very professional and I was impressed with how easy the appointment went. My son ended up with some cavities that we have subsequently had filled by Dr. Jamie. I’m not convinced that all needed to be filled, they were more of precautionary fillings, but I’m grateful for her suggestions.
There were a number of questions from the receptionist to other staff members that gave me the impression she didn’t really know what she was doing. My 2 appointments were about a month apart and I didn’t see any improvement.
