I haven’t camped out here. My review is strictly on day use down at the Prairie Creek Beach. A day use pass is $ 4, but a year pass is only $ 30 and you get access to many many parks. The sandy beach area has been good for swimming and recreational activities. Plus, there are a ton of park/picnic benches in covered and uncovered areas with BBQ’s. There is also a swing set area and a playground area. The water seems clean and(during the Summer) warm. I enjoy coming here. I’m a Californian, so I gravitate towards water. I will be spending more time here while I live here.

Nice location with numerous secluded sites and lots of wildlife. Other than that, this place needs some serious work. The playground we camped next to for our kids looked abandoned and had 2 foot tall weeds/grass, like a field. The bathrooms, while well designed, were filthy. Dead roaches, a 5 gallon bucket for trash and trash everywhere on the floor. The showers do have hot water but you must press a button every 10 seconds to keep it going. After I showered and walked back to my tent, a cleaning guy went in and was literally in there for less than 30 seconds. It seems like this place is great for the homeless. There is no check in after dark and no one comes around to keep an eye on things. While taking my shower a guy came in with a 5 gallon bucket of urine and feces and proceeded to pour it into the toilet and then wash it in the shower. We will not stay here again.
