A throwback to a time in America before quick NY style takeout chinese food edged out traditional sit down chinese american restaurants. Delicious food, well prepared and served by a friendly staff. A locally owned family run business, well worth your patronage. My husband had the pork chow mein, I had the beed and broccoli, and we both had some pan fried dumplings and egg drop soup. Everything hit the spot and was well prepared and delicious.

Tasty and friendly, lots of unique items on the buffet. Tempura green beans were my favorite. Also had little pomegranate seeds to sprinkle on your salad.

Christmas day, alone with my husband, so we decided not to cook and take a trip to town and see if there was anywhere open for dinner. There were 3 places open, Waffle House, IHOP, and Hing Ta. We chose Hing Ta because we never have been there, and I wasn’t in the mood to fight the crowds at the other two places. We were greeted at the door and sat at a nice table. The inside of the place was beautiful and nice low key Chinese music was playing. The buffet was available, but we ordered from the menu. A full menu(not a paper fold up). The place is staffed with a full bar, if that interests anyone, and the service was great! My husband ordered Ginger Chicken and I ordered Pork Egg Foo Young. I am not exaggerating when I say this food was the best I have ever had coming from a Chinese restaurant. HIGHLY recommended! We plan on making this place our Valentine’s destination.(to be honest we will probably go back before then. :))

I’m not from the area but was driving through and for some reason, was really craving Chinese food. It was most likely because I had only been eating barbecue for the past few days. Hing Ta is very solid Chinese food and I was impressed that a place this good was in Rocky Mount, NC! I ordered a la carte but was also quite impressed with the buffet. It’s your typical American style Chinese food but there is a lot of flavor in the dishes and varied ingredients and vegetables which is not always the case in various American style Chinese food establishments. The service was also excellent and the waitress/hostess were extremely kind. The décor was great and they obviously put a lot of thought into it. The prices were excellent but this might also be me coming from big cities and expecting higher prices for this quality of food. Overall, I really was quite impressed with Hing Ta and would definitely recommend it if you want Chinese food in Rocky Mount, NC or like me, and are just driving by.

I was traveling to Rocky Mount and as always when I am out of town I trust Unilocal to find me a great place to eat… This was a buffet and it was between lunch and dinner services… so for buffet style this time can be a hit or miss… mostly misses… I was extremely surprised with the way this buffet was stocked as well as the selection… I stayed for an hour and a half and left with a full belly and a big smile… service was great…

I have never had a bad meal from Hing Ta. Easily, the best chinese food in the area. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, and the food serving sizes are as expected if not larger. Our family loves getting take out and enjoying Hing Ta at home!

Full parking lot on a Wednesday night in NC. Server was very polite and had a genuine smile. Had the dinner buffet and unsweetened tea. The buffet full of fresh, hot food items. I had plain rice, baked salmon, sesame chicken, and zucchini/chicken. It was seasoned well; not super salty. Hot, good smelling towel provided after I finished eating. Prompt checkout. Thank you!

This place was AWESOME!!! The food was great it is a smaller buffet with big flavor! And the service was great looks like a local spot for sure waitress knew many folks by name :) it was the first place I have been to to eat that brings out a warm washcloth to finish washing your hands and face it’s off the beaten path but very worth it!!!

Order off-menu and challenge their chef… he has skills. We skipped the buffet as it was drawing close to closing time and ordered from the menu. As we were awaiting our order; the owner approached our table and asked if we’d like to try some tempura green beans freshly prepared by her chef as her dinner. I’m so glad we said yes as they were very, very tasty and fresh! She then suggested that any time we were in the area and stopping in that we should order anything whether it be on the menu or not. She bragged of her chef’s creative skills and I can see why. We’ll definitely make this place a regular stop on the way to/from the coast.

The food there is okay not the best but okay. For me it was to much grease, so I didn’t like it much. My family didn’t either. The food was something to salty. But oh well. I would’ve went somewhere else to eat, if it we’re me

Stopped in on a road trip to Virginia. The buffet was pretty good but not great. I have lived in North Carolina for about a year and a half. Hing Ta’s food is pretty much what I have come to expect from Asian food in NC. Nothing special but not bad either. It would be awesome if someone brought GREAT Asian food to NC like I have had in every other state(Texas, Nevada, Florida and Alaska) I have lived in. I give Hing Ta 3 stars because the food was ok and the service was very good.

Greeted by a friendly lady who never stopped smiling. I took a little long to decide on my to-go order and never felt rushed. The food was very good. Much better than standard americanized Chinese food — spicy and tasty. Trying Chinese restaurants while traveling always has an element of risk. I usually avoid it. This one is a winner.

We had this Chinese buffet on our way up 95 N from Florida to Massachusetts. It was EXCELLENT. The food was fresh and delicious, especially the handmade dumplings. The waitress and the owner were both super attentive and made us feel right at home. It’s not very far off 95 and was well worth the short drive! Definite recommendation. We will return for sure.

Recently moved back to NC after living in Washington DC a while. In DC there is an area called Chinatown, which has authentic chinese restaurants with great tasting cuisine. This place could easily be in DC’s Chinatown area & be well supported. Food and service are excellent. I had Chicken Cantonese here. Nice change of pace from the typical southern fried foods and pork. Will be back.

Not Chinatown quality, but well above average, especially for a non-major city. Service was 5 star. Value for the money is 5 star. If I lived near here, I would eat here on a regular basis.
