Decent place. Stopped in when passing through the area. Wasn’t too much to look at but the food tasted great!

Both my husband and myself had the buffet on a weekday during lunch time. There was a lot of choices, and the buffet is large, the food is hot and well prepared. The quality is medium, the food was good. The price is also reasonable, and the staff is friendly. It is a Southern style buffet, with a big selection of rural foods unfamiliar to people with a modern palate — like fat back, c-loaf and pigs feet. Aside from this, the fried chicken was crispy and tasty, and a wide variety of vegetables and salad items. The inside could benefit from updates and a deep cleaning.

$ 5 breakfast buffet is a great deal but the overall experience was… meh. I went on a weekday a little after 9, place was semi-vacant. Hostess? Server just kind of gave an un-enthusiastic«hey» from across the room and told me I could help myself. Also, the sanitation grade is 96, but the place looks pretty shabby. Looks very early 80s and indoor /outdoor carpeting appears to have originally been dark red but is now a mucky brownish grey. Entire dining room kind of has an old stale musty smell. Eggs on the bar were depleted and there was no intention of refilling them until someone asked, and then there was a yell to the kitchen to cook more eggs, so none were ready. Eggs and potatoes tasted like old grease. Ham, bacon, and grits were very good though. You get your money’s worth in food but not in service or atmosphere. I think there’s another location across town and I would try that one before returning here.

I found this place while driving to Virginia Beach. I passed one of their large signs and pulled over after seeing the second. There are tables if you want to sit but I decided on the take out. It is unusual to find really good soul food at a buffet especially with a take out option. There was not much bbq but it didn’t matter. There were big meaty pig feet, fried chicken wings, chitterlings, even pig tails which I’d never had. Black eyed peas, macaroni and cheese, the good kind with hunks of cheddar, real minced north carolina bbq. I got a bit of everthing, two containers. Wish they’d had more desserts, seemed to have run out. Staff were very very nice. Can’t wait to go back.

The buffet was well stocked, clean and had a nice variety of food. The BBQ was excellent… and being born and raised in Eastern NC-I know good BBQ!!! I have recommended several friends and they have all stated they had a wonderful experience. I recommend them over Gardners & Smithfields.

The food is good. The interior of the restaurant looks lack-luster, dark, and worn. The food is all typical southern food, heavy in grease, and not a meal that sits lightly on the stomach. It’s not bad, don’t get me wrong, but if you’re concerned about your cloths fitting and the bathroom scale not tilting, you probably want to minimize your exposure to this restaurant. Not to mention the couple times I ate here, i spent double the amount of time in the restroom.

Lunch buffet was decent; not the best I’ve had, but serviceable. I particularly enjoyed the fried chicken, collard greens, and pork. I went for a late lunch; some of the stations had run out and they were a little slow in refilling them. Staff was warm and friendly, but I’m docking a star due to finding no soap in the restroom, and not replacing it 15 min after I told them when my son went to the restroom.

This place is not much on looks, but the food is okay. This place looks like an old shoney’s. The folks there seem to be nice.

This place is not good at all if you are accustomed to decent dining experiences. 1. Flies flying into your food while you are eating. 2. Most of the food was cold 3. The meat was dry and chewy 4. The bathrooms were like a sauna, no toilet paper and hand sand and paper towel dispenser was broken. Also beware of the parking lot. We were approached by a suspicious looking man wanting to talk to us for help. Out of towners be aware of this place.

I’m not a big bbq fan but this was really really good. The wait staff was absolutely adorable. Solid country cooking with southern hospitality. This buffet will be a frequent stop on my travels.

Well this is a rare occasion. After reading the reviews I disagree with all but one. How could anyone give this place more than one or two stars is beyond my comprehension. Staff provided good service and were cordial but our waitress looked like she was ready to go home! Good food just seemed over cooked, dried out, and not very fresh like it’s been sitting there for hours. I guess the locals like it. Asked the gas attendant at the gas station that was very close to this restaurant and she said«it’s packed over there» but she never has been over to eat. They are obviously doing something right with the local crowds but it’s not at the level that I’m used to in North Carolina. If you are looking for something divey in Rocky Mount, this place will most definitely give you a different experience! Here are a couple restaurants in Western North Carolina that are not close in location or poor quality. THEYAREAWESOME! Check them out if you have the chance to get by Cashiers or Brevard! Both of the these restaurants are divey but definitely a difference experience from Carolina BBQ& Chicken.

Staff was friendly, all types of delicious food, strongly recommend the fried chicken and cornbread. Also had macorni and cheese and the green peas. 100x better than gardeners which we were recommended to go to when we first arrived. Would definitely go to again next time I’m down here. Hopefully I can bring some friends

The place was kind of run down looking and a bit on the sketchy side so my expectations were not high. However I had the BBQ sandwich with fries. The sandwich was a NC type BBQ with coleslaw. It was quite tasty. The pork could have a bit more BBQ on it but even still it was good. The fries were quite good and were steak fry style. I don’t know that I would purposely stop here again but for a quick stop off the highway for a lunch on the go it was well worth it. Prices are great and staff was friendly.

Stopped in for some BBQ in our way down south. I was a bit skeptical at first, but glad that I dropped on in. With a bunch of picky eating kids, there was something for everyone. Moist bbq chicken, collard, fish, ribs, stuffing and a multitude of veggies. Definitely save room for dessert: pies, puddings, cakes and awesome sweet tea.

O. My. Gosh. Their chicken strips were off the hook. Their peach cobbler was sinful. Their corn bread was the very best I have ever had. Hubby had to hold me back from getting a third plate from the buffet! Definitely going back there again. We are normally not buffet fans but we decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! I tried as much as I could handle but I was seriously considering going back for a third plate but hubby saved me. This was my first peach cobbler so I only took a small amount and I wish I had taken the entire tray off the buffet line. Yes. That good. The apple cobbler was excellent too but the peach blew the apple away! I tried the shrimp on the buffet and I should have stayed with the«southern» food because it wasn’t all that. I had high hopes for the BBQ pork as well but while it was moist, it was very vinegar-y. No seconds there. The BBQ rib was too fatty for me. The flavor was excellent but I was getting all greedy for the chicken strips, peach cobbler and corn bread. It seems a little pricey as our bill for two fountain drinks and two buffets were a little over $ 28 but so worth it. We will be back.

Brand new place to stop when going north to south the buffet is fresh and plentiful and a bargain price. Had a 9.5 health dept rating(fabulous). No greasy smells, very clean Exit 145 in North Carolina off of route 95. Be sure to try the shrimp, oysters and BBQ pork with cole slaw. All very fresh. Really likes this place and will stop every trip. Big Dave comment is that you have to save yourself up so you can try it all and do justice to all the tasty treats.
