Food is a 3 star could use some touch up to be more Italian. I’m Italian so I get picky so a 3 is good I give the olive a 1 star. The staff can be more fun they seem distant The bathroom.WOW. in need of a good cleaning and Maintenance. Glass cleaner and degreaser are NOT bathroom cleaning product’s. Buy a new toilet seat for Pete’s sake. Hope this helps

Don’t know why they always get low reviews. Atmosphere is good. Staff is good. Most importantly food is good.

We used to be regulars at Johnny Carinos in Rockwall, but I just couldn’t go anymore. The food, and deals, are good, however, the mens bathroom just continued to be neglected. It was like it had not been touched from one visit to the next. The last time in, I can honestly say, it was about as bad a shape as any I’ve been in. And the smell was horrible.

We have been coming here for many years and the food is always good but the service is awful. It seems like the staff just does not care

The hostess seated us in a booth with cushions that clearly needed replacing. Additionally the manager said that they are slowly replacing the cushions. He was unapologetic even though the seat bothered my husband’s back and not professionally dressed and casual im attitude unlike competitors. Surprisingly they still seat customers in the defective booths even though some are fixed and there is plenty of other seating. Also, this restaurant serves lettuce cores in their salads. Lastly, the sounds of glass breaking and seats falling to the floor were alarming. The food was decent and the service was good. Used to go to Johnny Carino’s in NC that was wonderful. Very disappointed in this particular location. We will not be back.

I just ordered take out for the first time. Got home to find that my 12 $ baked tortellini was a handful of cold tortellini that tasted bland. This was a waste of money and time. Last time I was here I said I wouldn’t come back. Gave you another try and you yet again disappointed me.

This place is starting to lose luster. 6:45 and we have to wait for a table with a half empty restaurant because they haven’t cleaned tables. The hostess then tried to seat us in the bar with the game on the tvs. Happy hour beer selection… Miller Light. Thats right, happy hour selection is one beer. Service was slow, twenty minutes after we ordered we are still waiting on lemons, one of the salads, bread, and entrée.

I don’t know why this restaurant has such awful reviews, I’ve been here multiple times and I have never had a problem. Food is always delicious and the wait staff is extremely friendly and the food is very well priced for the amount you get. Will definitely continue being a customer!

Monday Nights are the best. Half price for family plates and the server was really caring tonight. Even extra bread to go

Never again. We went for dinner on Thursday, January 7, 2016 around 7:30 pm. I used to love this place but in other locations. We should have just turned around after we saw no cars in the parking lot but we went in. We saw about three full tables and a few couples in the bar. The place just looked dirty upon walking in but we went for it anyways because the Carino’s other restaurants are great but not this one. We went to sit down at a bar table but it was not wiped down. The manager /hostess came and asked us if we wanted her to wipe it down and she did. We sat down and I ordered my favorite Rosemary Chicken. My wife and I do split entrees as we do not eat much. It was a $ 3.00 charge but that was fine you get an extra salad. The bar waiter brought us out a basket of bread, it looked great and I dug into it. I took one bit then looked at this bread and there was probably a four inch hair hanging down from it. I was ready to just get up and leave after that. I showed it to the waiter and he brought us some more bread. I did not eat any of course. Our meal came(it was a little slow to arrive) but and it was split nicely and looked just fine. My stomach was still turning from the bread but I did make myself eat the dinner and it was alright, chicken was a bit over cooked and veggies a bit overdone but it was ok. The bill was $ 29 and we paid and left. I am fine paying for a dinner but not for just ok and hairy bread at a dirty restaurant when there are other great finds in Rockwall and surrounding areas. My recommendation is to just keep driving past this one. It is not the same Carino’s that I remember from other locations.

Staff seated us in the bar area(he didn’t ask first) & did not even attempt to wait on us. Then Manager chased us down in the parking lot after we left offering to serve us. The restaurant wasn’t crowded. Too little too late.

I decided to come on a Monday since they have half off family night. Wait was absolutely ridiculous! We must have been waiting for about 45 minutes for our food. Salad was very distasteful as well as the Bread. Shrimp and chicken plate was just okay. First time coming here and was not pleased at all. Only giving it a two star because the waiter was very nice.

My Wife and I go Wednesday’s to the bar for happy hour and dinner. Bartender Heather is awesome. Tonight October 1st. We went there and the whole place was a disaster area. I long suspected the Restaurant area seem disastrous. Tonight, my suspicions came true. Folks at the bar dinning were frustrated, bar tender(Not Heather) disorganized and lost. I observed the restaurant area from the bar, and the waiter, waitress area ratio. Two tables per wait staff. They were running like lost puppies. When I asked where the Manager was, he was lodged by the kitchen bar, observing the cooks, going madly as fast as they could, in a semi state of panic. We ordered a simple Caesar salad for dinner, and after it did not arrived in 24 minutes. I asked for the bill, and departed. On my way out, the two greeters were standby by talking.(I am sure the conversation was important) they were clueless their employment establishment was falling apart, and the bartender needed assistance in his area. We wish Tony Carinos good luck on your way down. Hold it, my bad, you are a chain. Let me rephrase I wish you best of luck on your way out of Rockwall.

Worst experience ever in Rockwall. Today was my first visit. Popped in at lunch with my son. First impression is bad. They put down bread before we saw there is no lunch menu. Only larger entrees in the $ 13-$ 20 range. Manager apologized. Too much food for lunch. Service was very, very, very, very slow. This was our first and last visit. Hamburger came out raw. Manager apologized again. Incredible this place remains open.

Unfortunately I’ve frequented this place so much that I’m now considered a regular. Service was great when I first started coming. Now it’s hard to get noticed. I have to flag the bartender for refills. Sitting at the bar I asked for a refill of water. He made no eye contact nor did he acknowledge I said anything. A minute or two passed and I asked him again. I wasn’t sure he heard me. He turned around and said«I heard you homeboy». with an indignant attitude. Surely there’s other places in town where you get treated like an actual customer. Anyway it was disappointing to say the least.

Stopped in at this location for dinner the other day. We had salad and eggplant parm. Everything was fresh and delicious, I had to take away a star because the italian chocolate cake was dry enough to crumble up and blow away. The service is always great when we stop by here, the crowd is never too dense, I am guessing because of the many other options in the area.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! I don’t even know where to start… Waited over an hour to be seated, hostess was rude, manager was rude, no one would wait on us once we sat down because my mother had complained about waiting so long to be seated, food was decent, but the WORST part of it all was a manager following around our server(who was in training) with a sour-puss face on the entire time! It was the most un-enjoyable experience. My mother and sister’s mother’s day was basically ruined because of the staff. Colt, our sweet server we scoped out, was amazing and was the ONLY one who took the time to help my family. Our table was ready for 20 minutes before we were allowed to sit down because the kitchen had to get caught up on tickets… yet the entire place was nearly dead!!! Our fault for not leaving. Should’ve gone to Olive Garden.

I have had it before and it wasn’t what I remembered. The food was good but it wasn’t worth the price. You can see the kitchen which was fun but the lighting was a bit bright to me. But I will say the service was amazing.

Johnny Carino’s always delivers for me. I dining in or picking up. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program. I think you need 10 to get a freebie. Check out my recommendations: Drinks: Bellini’s These bad boys serve as my «take a load off, drop my shoulders, and relax» drink. And they are potent! I always feel lifted after drinking one, on rare occasions two of these. You will definitely sleep better after these… lol. Apps: Italian Nachos with chicken and/or sausage. All their appetizers are your basic selections done well enough. Nothing special but gets the job done. Salads: I prefer house with house… yummy and fresh! My salad should always crunch when I eat it! No limp or brown leaves here :) Soups: Italian chili but I know it’s likely crazy high in sodium so I eat it sparingly. Entrees: Lemon Rosemary Chicken Without a doubt my favorite. It is always well prepared and is a healthier option. It gives me my protein and some good veggies with just enough pasta to knock out my carb craving. It’s very light tasting and feeling. Yummy! Spicy Shrimp and Chicken It’s really good! I don’t like eating a whole lot of pasta but when I do I like ordering this. Generally might order the family platter and split it at the table with everybody. It’s spicy but not tingly spicy. I like the kick. Honey-Pecan Crusted Salmon Salad I’m not a big salad for dinner girl but this one certainly is an option. I love salmon on my salad(Ziziki’s has a nice salmon salad too). It is a nice option if you are craving seafood, something lighter, something pasta-less, or all of the aforementioned. Pizza: They are just okay. I am a pizza fanatic so I can be critical. It’s a la cart so your toppings can add up quickly which I am never a fan of being one who like lots of topping on my pie. I’m into value and cost effectiveness.(My qualm with Terilli’s too) Dessert: Italian Chocolate Cake I am a chocolate lover and this always fits the bill. It has the right moisture balance without being too dry or too mousse-y. Perfect with ice cream. Mini desserts I like that they began offering these options. A perfect portion that satisfies my craving. Disclaimer: Their table bread is so good!!! I mean«you can eat a loaf by yourself before the meal comes especially when it’s hot» good, so be careful. You can do it! Or just eat it all and say, «That was worth it!» …gotta live a little people. They have a bar area which services just as efficiently as the dining room. The patio is always nice when the weather permits. Good kids menu. Also beware of when you go! Rockwall packs the house on Friday and Saturday nights! It’s like family night out in Rockwall. Can be crowded and loud! The waits are generally decent and the service is too. I have never had a bad experience here and have had a few outstanding ones. And I generally catch them in an off-peak time or get to go with the curbside pick-up.
