I’ve come to this restaurant multiple times and have never really had a bad experience. But today, I ordered breakfast and with it, came the most repulsive looking pieces of bacon I have ever seen. It looked inedible and the waitress seemed to have no problem serving this to me. The bacon looked like a mixture between burnt bacon and snake skin. After this experience, I definitely would not recommend getting anything other than pancakes here.

I’ve been visited this restaurant twice/week during last 8months. My fav order is the two by four, and every time, I’m enjoying the delicious food. I’m going to miss this place cuz I’m heading to Canada, so don’t miss it, and enjoy the only true PANCAKES:)

Went to the pancake house today for the first time. I had somehow driven past this place almost everyday and never noticed it but thank goodness I now know it’s there. I decided to get some brunch before heading to work. There’s plenty of parking space in the back and there’s also some to the side of the building but there’s only one path to go to and from the lot in the back so BECAREFUL. I went inside and was greeted by the host, I told him it was my first time and he seemed very excited and kindly welcomed me and showed me to a seat. He was also very considerate about my comfortability which was nice. I quickly got water from my waitress(I think her name was Emma or amy, I can’t remember) BUT she was a really reallllyyyy nice lady. I looked at all the stuff in the menu and it was A LOT. I decided to get bacon, eggs, hash browns and a side of pancakes yeah I know, that’s a lot of food but I was so indecisive. The bacon was AMAZING. The waitress brought me my check without me asking but not in a rushing manner(you pay at the front btw) my host was my cashier(he’s either everywhere or he has a twin idk). He asked how I liked everything and I told him I didn’t like it… I LOVEDIT. Seriously order that bacon guys! It was a really awesome experience, too bad I had to rush and eat. Next time, I’ll bring company. I’ll definitely be back.

Maybe it’s just the matter of ordering the right thing, but we had a pretty good breakfast. My son had nutella stuffed French toast with strawberries. How could you really go wrong with this one? The freshly made whipped cream was a nice touch and it’s served with a fresh strawberry sauce. I had avocado toast which us avocado spread on ciabatta bread with poached eggs. I added hollandaise sauce on top which was delicious! My hashbrowns were the perfect amount of crispy.

Service was terrible. We were sitting for 10 minutes when finally we went up to ask for a waiter. Giving them 2 stars bc the food was alright … This place is like an ihop but a LITTLE better. The fastest service we got was getting our check.

Consistently solid breakfast food with excellent service. If you get Brandon, you’re in for a real treat. He’s the best! Wait times can be long on the weekends, but they are very quick and efficient with table turning. I keep meaning to try their sandwiches, but I can’t stop ordering the pigs in a blanket.(They house-make the sausage!) My MO: get the pigs with an extra order of sausage links.

Ive never said anything bad about Original Pancake house, because I love coming here & the food is Amazing. But today. This morning when I ordered for take out, I wasn’t really pleased with my service. First off, I arrived at this place, hoping my food would be ready by the time I arrived, because I didn’t really have time to wait. Walking inside, the restaurant was already Packed to begin with(it was a Saturday, what do you expect.). As I crawled through the crowd to get up to the Cashier, I ended up greeting the cashier. «Hi, how are you. I’m here for pick up.» I greeted. Not once did the cashier Guy look up at me to acknowledge me. But instead, he decided to finish his texting conversation in a drawer. He replied by mumbling something. I answered back, «umm, I’m sorry» ” you ordered two waffle works right?” He replied, still texting on his phone. The rude person inside of me, knew to go off on him, but it was crowded & I didn’t have time for that. One of their other customers was standing behind me and said«you handled it better then I would have.» The first time I controlled my anger in a long time. You all should probably talk with the young man that was on cashier this morning 02÷27÷16. You all are too good & busy too be having problems like this. Being that it was line out the door crowded, I don’t think any of your employees should be thinking about their phones. Just saying. Other than that my food was Delicious.

I have been going to this chain since 1980 when I frequented the original«Original Pancake House» in Portland Oregon. You will find almost anything you fancy for breakfast here, and a few combinations you hadn’t thought of. The food is good, the juice is fresh, the coffee is better than what most pancake places offer. And the calorie damage is disclosed ahead of time. I am actually not focused on what a nice breakfast place it is. I feel obligated to give a shout out to my waiter Brandon. He nailed all the little details. The coffee came with the food as requested. He brought extra plates since we were sharing. Containers came when it was clear that a lot of food remained. The coffee was constantly replenished. It was a reminder of how much great service enhances a meal, and how rare it is.

My wife and I came here for Breakfast today. I ordered a Ham and Cheese Omelet. The Omelet had raw eggs running out of it. Nasty. They brought me burnt greasy Bacon. Nasty. Our table flopped back and forth so our Coffee spilled. We will not be back.

Average at its best, The Original Pancake House is comparable to a mediocre diner or IHOP. but with reasonable prices and large portions, it’s certainly a crowd-pleaser. I really don’t get this place. Coming on a Sunday morning, The Original Pancake House was bursting at the seams with people. This is usually a good sign, but looking at the mostly miserable looking waitstaff on a busy Sunday indicated otherwise. Navigating the tight awkward parking lot behind the restaurant, we waited about thirty minutes before being seated. The seven of us were seated at one of those tables that are cut strangely, so a few of us got the weird part of the top. Our waitress was much more cheerful than the hostess. I went with the new menu items and chose the Eggs Florentine with smoked salmon($ 11.50) and my girlfriend got the Fresh Vegetarian Omelet(around $ 10), which included a small three-stack of pancakes. There was nothing exceptional about either dish. The smoked salmon was disappointing, with limited flavor and the whole thing was a little cold. The omelets here are fascinating looking and massive, but I found the the omelet a little too watery and the vegetables weren’t cooked long enough(especially the broccoli which was hardly cooked at all). I have to admit, the pancakes were pretty good — light and fluffy with a surprising amount of sweet flavor. Overall, I know there are better(and less crowded) breakfast places in Bethesda. The restaurant is only okay, around the same quality as a IHOP or Perkins. Not worth going out of your way for in my opinion.

No matter which OPH you go to on a weekend, it’s going to be a zoo. It seems, however, that this specific location, which I tend to hit up every time I visit friends in the area, is particularly ridiculous in this department. So this time, I wised up and ordered takeout instead. Pancakes don’t necessarily translate well into takeout food, and that’s okay. But when a simple order takes nearly thirty minutes longer than promised AND has a major mistake in it, like say, the chocolate chips missing from«chocolate chip pancakes», then we have a problem. Furthermore, their usually delicious bacon this time ’round looked as if it had just been sliced off Wilbur himself and slapped onto my platter. Gross, indeed. Needless to say, my routine visits to this location while in the area ended today.

So this is your standard pancake house, with a bit of a twist. In addition to the usual suspects, there are specialty items like Dutch Babies(see photos for reference) which I did not try, but saw several people order. They looked intense! The location lends itself to catching the overflow from when the Silver Diner nearby is totally packed. I would say the prices are fair, service is friendly, and the food quality is exactly what you expect without being surprised either positively or negatively. If you are craving a lumberjack style breakfast, or want to try something decadent, give this place a shot!

Casual American restaurant dishing out some serious pancakes. This is my favorite breakfast and brunch spot in the Maryland suburbs — hands down. If someone raises the possibility of going to another four letter pancake establishment, you should immediately teach them right from wrong and bring them to what we affectionately call OHOP. It’s great for post-Sunday service brunch, reunions with friends, or breakfasts with guests visiting from out of town. The pancakes and syrup must have a secret ingredient because they are just that good. The prices are fair for the large portions, and a vegetarian can find plenty to eat here. I keep it simple with eggs and pancakes, because you can’t come here and –not– get the pancakes. They even have chai tea! The only downside of their greatness is a lot of people know about it, so expect a line on weekends for breakfast and brunch. But it is well worth the wait!

Went here for the first time on a busy Sunday for breakfast with some of my best friends from out of town. Our wait surprisingly wasn’t too terrible(about 30 minutes for 7 of us?), but the downside is that the way the restaurant is set up with booths, our party had to be split. As others have mentioned, it was rather loud/noisy just due to the sheer volume of people in the restaurant, but what can you do? For food, I ordered the works with pumpkin pancakes, and it was a ton of food, but so good! The pancakes were hot and fluffy, and the bacon they serve is extra thick, which is a nice surprise. Everyone else at my table seemed to enjoy their food, as well. Service was also good, except our server would only fill up my coffee cup about halfway. I need my caffeine! But that just means more refills, I guess. This place may be a little pricier than a certain international pancake place, but it’s worth a visit. I’ll be back for sure.

Came here for lunch over the weekend and it turns out they only serve breakfast(no burger options available, etc) Although I’m not that big on breakfast anymore, the food was still quite good. We got a Western Omelette(5), French Toast(3), Dutch Baby(4), freshly squeezed OJ(3), and Coffee(2). Pros: We were seated rather quickly, most of the staff was really friendly(especially in an effort to quiet down our diddy kong), and there’s plenty of parking along the side/behind the restaurant. Cons: One thing they could definitely improve on is speed, as our food took REALLY long to come out(~20m). The prices aren’t exactly cheap — majority of the dishes were $ 10+. It can get rather noisy w all the kids. Btw, you pay on the way out(cashier/host area) Overall — Taste: 4, Value: 3, Portions: 3.5, Noise Level: 3.5, Speed: 1.5

Really great breakfast spot. I used to live very close. I went a few times and ordered takeout once as well. Great eggs, pancakes etc. The portions are huge. The menu is huge as well. Omelettes r OK, but better off sticking to pancakes . The only drawbacks are it is a little pricey for the kind of food you get. And it is usually insanely crowded. On weekends be prepared to wait, but usually moves quickly.

This place does breakfast right. I have never left disappointed. Typically I’m not even a breakfast person. When heading to brunch, I usually end up getting something that is more«lunch». This place lives up to the title… the pancakes are great! They have a ton of flavors(love the pumpkin!!). I usually order the pancakes and eggs combo and pay the extra $ 1 or $ 2 to substitute it for flavored pancakes. They have omelettes that are baked in the oven — really makes a difference. The fun specialty breakfasts like the Dutch Baby or the Apply Pancake are worth checking out too. Come here prepared to eat breakfast… don’t bother with their lunch menu. It just doesn’t match up. Heads up! They don’t take reservations. Weekends are a bit of a wait. Once your seated, the food tends to come out quickly :).
