I read the older reviews and even though it was obvious I shouldn’t go, I still went. I regret that decision whole heartedly(is that a word?). The location looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, it wasn’t a very inviting atmosphere. The older woman that attended me had a huge blister above her lip(1.5 inches), I’d recommend covering it with something if you’re going to actually go into work and attend people, otherwise, just stay home! They only take Visa and MC, no AMEX or discover. Now, the work she actually did on my eyebrows was worse than when I got them done at Wheaton Plaza at a KIOSK, if a KIOSK can do a better job for the same price, there’s something wrong. I had sparse hairs and it wasn’t shaped right. All in all, I’m not going back.

I used to go to this place to get my eyebrows done, not because I thought they did a great job, but the Indian grocery is next door and so whenever I went grocery shopping, it was convenient to get my brows done here. I agree with all of the reviewers that it really, really depends on who happens to be there that day. One time I went to a woman who did an absolute terrible job(I had several stray hairs that she did not pull) and another time I went to a woman who I thought was great. However, the problem is that the turn over is so high that I could never rely on the same woman to be there(and also, she did not speak much English, which was hard). Thankfully, Threads has opened a new branch in Bethesda and now I’ve abandoned Cutting Edge forever. Check out Threads for extremely professional threading with great results.

I used to go here often, but every time I went my shaping got worse and worse. Just like the previous reviewer Katie! The very first time I went in I had never shaped my eyebrows in my life; so they gave me a beautiful arch. The second time, still great. By the 3rd and 4th times, they took off so much of my eyebrow that it was too noticeable of an «eyebrow job» where you see the untanned portions of your browlines… and those last few times I felt the sanitation of the salon was BAD. The first times I went they were good about cleaning up, but then afterwards every time I went there would be customers’ CUTHAIRSTILLONTHEGROUNDUNSWEPTWHERE I SAT(and no sweeping even as i tiptoed into my seat), used eyebrow threads sitting all over the place(for those of you who don’t know, they look like floss) and used tissues crumpled over the countertop. I would like to think that I just walked in right after a cut, and maybe they were going to clean it soon… but no effort even while I was there. I also think I got the same lady as Katie to do my brows. By the way, each time I always see someone else. It is best that you stick with ONE woman that you trust so that you can get the same results… the one woman who told me that there was great. but I never saw her again after that… should have asked for her name. This is the only Rockville place I know of that does threading, so I now venture to a personal threader and DC. PS: They do walk-ins!

Beautiful eyebrow shaping. I’ve been going every month or so for about a year, and they are fast and very cheap. I recommend the lunch hour if you don’t want to wait. If you’ve never had threading, it’s a hair removal process that involves twisting cotton thread – it’s fast and doesn’t peel off the top layer of skin like waxing. For eyebrows, they ask you to use your hands to hold your forehead taut while they work. The only potential concern – I started at the beginning with fully grown-out eyebrows, and I noticed that they started to make them thinner and thinner as I continued to go. Nothing drastic; just thinner than I’d like. So now I ask them to keep my eyebrows thick, and they do very good work. Cutting Edge is located in the Macgruder’s shopping center on Rockville Pike. It’s not visible from the parking lot – just park to the far right of Macgruder’s and walk toward Patel grocery. They also offer haircuts, waxing, and ear and nose piercing. WARNING(added 10÷17÷07): how your eyebrows turn out depends entirely on who does them! I had an experience similar to echo’s last month – had a chunk taken out of the top of my right eyebrow. AVOID the young woman with long frizzy/curly hair and glasses. Avoid anyone who seems tentative and slow at threading. I find that the older ladies do an excellent job. I did dare to go back after that experience, and with one of my regular threaders, got my eyebrows back in shape. Reliable if you know who to ask for(although, keep in mind that options may be limited depending on who’s working that day – don’t be afraid to leave and go back at a later time). CONCLUSION(11÷2÷07): All right, I give up. The woman who screwed up my eyebrow is there every time I try to go. I no longer recommend this salon for eyebrow threading.
