Just passed by and it looks like 82 Steak Out is closing. This is very sad, though not unexpected. I really wanted this place to succeed because their cheesesteak sandwiches were amazing. Seems like it’s tough for a restaurant to make it in this location.

Came here for lunch and was greeted by a friendly waitress. Their menu is pretty simple with some steak, salad and pasta options. I ordered the 5 oz steak that came with fries and bleu cheese salad. The salad wasn’t bad but a little salty for me. The steak was pretty small and I ordered it medium and it came precut into thin slices with a house sauce. I thought the steak was ok. I also tried the cheeseteak and I really enjoyed that and you can tell the bread was toasted with butter which was fine by me. Overall, not a bad place for lunch and I would come back to try some other things.

I have been several times, as they are very near me in Town Square. 82 Steakout keeps things very simple and high-quality. The menu has very few items on it, but everything I’ve had has been very good. Don’t expect velvet seats and huge slabs of red meat — that’s not their steakhouse deal. Their signature meal — the 8 oz prime sirloin — comes already sliced, with sauce on the beautiful meat(so be sure to ask for on the side if that’s how you like it), and with a generous portion of deelish shoestring fries. The Philly Cheesesteak is delicious, although more refined and not overstuffed like the ones above the Mason-Dixon Line. At lunch you can also order a number of other sandwiches — the Godfather was really wonderful as my recent warm takeout lunch. One thing you might not expect: they have the freshest, best salads in Town Square, maybe in all Rockville. Very plain, but super fresh. Be aware that the dressing will come on the salad; order on the side if that’s what you want. Finally, the service is very casual and friendly. Again, not what some might expect for a steak place, but a nice, down to earth vibe. I’m glad to see 82 Steakout thriving a little more as they settle in to Town Square. They serve really nice food at decent steakhouse prices.

Down a small side street of the Rockville Town Center sets a quaint, euro-fresh restaurant. 82 Steak Out reminds you of a rendezvous point for specisl encounters and delicious meals. My service began with a hospitable hostess who responded quickly while providing a touch of professional service from another time and place. The décor was crisp, clean, and rustically modern. Great service is clearly a priority. This is a good location for lunch or a nice diversion with your significant other. I had heard about the super cheesesteak sandwich. My server said it was an excellent choice. Pasta dishes were available, but I held out for the cheesesteak. I was very pleased with the choice. It is not just ANY meat. This was thinly sliced ribeye steak with just the right amount of cheese, onion, pepper, lettuce, and tomato. The french fries were actual potatoes actually cut in the kitchen. Can you say yum? I knew you could. The tea was spot on!!! That means a lot coming from a tea snob like myself. I topped it all off with coffee and dessert. And yes, desserts are made in house. The apple pie alamode was exceptional. All in all, it was an affordable and wonderful lunch. And yes, you’ve done something good today, so treat yourself to 82 Steak Out. You will be back. See you there!

Company happy hour outing with coworkers and a real Rockviller recommended this place, then he regretted. 82 stood for 82 cents, meaning that the price of every dish ends with .82. It’s not too cool nor too lame, just not impressive. Apparently, from the name, you would order steak and we did, sided with blue cheese salad. When the salad arrived, we were actually asking where the blue cheese were as it was so different than what we imagined. It was simply few minced blue cheese here and there on the salad, not the chunky ones we were expecting. The steak, I had to say, was just okay, but the price is reasonable. It is no way closer to any of the chain steak houses, like Morton’s, Ruth and Capital Grill, which of course were far more expensive. However, even at this price, they would have lots of improvements to do. The bread was good though, which might be the only thing we enjoyed. It is located just next to Noodles & Company, easy to find.

We were looking for a place to celebrate my husbands birthday. Searched through Unilocal reviews for restaurants in Rockville and stumbled upon 82 steak out… Read the reviews, checked the menu and decided to give it a try. It was a Friday night and busy– glad we made reservations! It’s a small place so it’s probably on a wait for most of Friday and Saturday nights. We were a bit early but seated within a couple minutes — I believe the manager doubles as hostesses. Everyone there seems to wear multiple hats, as 3 different people took care of us — waiting, food delivery, drink refills… Since everyone’s so busy it’s nice to know you can ask anyone for anything you need. I ordered the pesto pasta and my husband got the steak and we both got the mixed salad– all was fabulous! The salad was incredibly fresh with a very tasty house vinaigrette. The steak was cooked perfectly mid-rare, and the pesto pasta was very flavorful. The only slight downside was that it took a while to get our check… But aside from that we had a great night and will definitely be back!

Very nice place, love the new look from the other place that used to be there. The bucket of fries were yummy and they were very nice and attentive. They have great specials most days and Thursday is all day happy hour i believe. Very Satisfied. The Waiter mixed my friend honey mustard since she requested it, super nice!

Absolutely amazing steak. Cooked to perfection every time and always served with a smile. It’s my go to place for the consistency, price, and that fact I could eat a steak sandwich any time. Lots of other great things on the menu though. Lasagna is delicious, eggplants covered in sauce but still crispy, Mac n cheese should be called crack n cheese and the wine list is perfect for the concept. With the service being the warm, friendly Cheers-esque icing on the cake, this place is a «must» for Rockville and a «go to» for me for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoons’, supper and dinner(and I usually get a sirloin to go for a late night snack).

My husband and I went out tonight for dinner. He wanted steak. So we checked UrbanSpoon and this came up. We were greeted when we came in and were offered 2 areas to sit. We picked a place away from others. There were 2 couples in the window area and a family of 10 when we got there Sunday night at 6:30. Everything was new, clean and color coordinated. Simple. The manager came over and I introduced myself, as usual. I was going to get the chicken parm. but when he said they have Philly cheesesteaks, my ears perked up. I said, «Whoa, Carlos. I’m from Philly. This better be a real Philly cheesesteak.» He said, it is. «We use Amoroso bread from Philly, strip steak.» Cheese?!? He said, provolone. Hmm, this sounded like a challenge. I said, you know if it’s real, I have to unhinge my jaw to eat it, right?!? Yup. I took a chance. I ordered a cheesesteak sandwich outside of Philly. Hubby ordered his steak. My plate came with a decent sized sandwich and more sweet potato fries than I could finish. I picked up the sandwich. First, difference, the roll had been heated and was soft. That meant soggy roll to me. I took my first bite and WOW! Holy mackerel! Outstanding! With every bite I said, «This is soooo good!» OMG! Ok, the bread was warm and soft but who cares. This was amazing! My husband gave me a piece of his steak to try. Also, very good. I was thrilled that we had found this place. I’ll be back here for sure. Yum!

Came here Thursday evening at 6:45 and we were the only ones here. We decided to eat here anyways and when we left, there were 4 other parties here. I hope this place survives. This location has high turnover(Bobby’s Crab cake, Tippos Taco). The steak frites that my brother and wife had was cooked to their liking and good tasty fries too. I had their lasagna and it was decent. I’ve had much better. All entrees comes with salad and/or fries. Their complimentary bread was nice and hot and tasted good. I like to try their desserts next time I’m around as well as their cheesesteaks.

I came with friends and we were seated immediately on a weeknight at 6 with only 2 other parties inside. My friend arrived first and said she didn’t think happy hour was served at tables, only at the bar. So when the waiter came I asked if we can do happy hour specials at the table and he said, «No.» Ok, thanks. We ordered our food, steak(obviously, as it was the only option on the menu), and my friends and I tried both options of salads and fries: green salad/chopped salad, regular/sweet potato fries. We also ordered mac&cheese. The food came out quickly but it was disappointing to say the very least. The salad dressing was decent but the greens were absolutely drenched in it, we might as well have been drinking the dressing. The steak was like flank steak, a couple pieces sliced very thinly and spread out on the plate, covered in sauce. And cold. I don’t know if our plates were brought out late in relation to when the kitchen finished them but the plating with the slices laid out next to each other definitely didn’t help keep the meat hot. The fries were fine as fries go, and the mac&cheese was 100% inedible. The sauce was grainy and kind of chunky and the waiter(who didn’t smile once and hardly checked on us) asked if we didn’t like it(since we left it pretty much untouched) and he talked to the chef and came back to tell us that they use real cheese«not like Velveeta»(thank you so much for that) and if it gets overcooked it curdles and that’s what happened so he took it off the check. That was the only redeeming part about the meal. I guess for $ 18 you shouldn’t expect that amazing of a steak meal but, come on. I heard our waiter ask another table of elderly gentlemen if they parked in the garage and offer to validate their tickets for them, and made it a point to wait and see if he’d ask and offer that to us and he never did. I would like to say it’s because my friends and I look young, but that doesn’t really excuse the rudeness and poor service if that was the case, nor does it excuse the bad food. I will literally never be back.

This place is what Rockville needs more of! Best Steak and Fries under $ 20 in town, elegant & quaint, great service, clean and a with nice European flair. Owner/operator came by our table personally twice. The location isn’t great, but just remember it is next to Noodles & Company which is at the end of the street and it’s well worth the 50′ walk from the Marble Slab. My wife and I had Lasgana, Steak and Fries, glass of Pinot Nior and a Malbec, sauteed mushrooms and some amazing creamed spinach. Don’t be alarmed small menu, it’s just like«Medium Rare» @ Tenley Circle, just much closer. Spread the word and don’t miss the opportunity to visit the place. Sides are about $ 6, ALL entrees under $ 20, decent wine collection and a few nice brews on tap. I hear they have a great cheese steak for lunch and happy hour too, we will be back from that on Friday. If you stop by and see it less than full, grab a table, it won’t last for long. JPH/MV

Great addition to Rockville Town Square! We went early(since we have a baby now) and the staff was very accommodating(although I’m going to brag that our 3 month old was super good and slept 90% of the time). Menu is super simple, which I loved. The blue cheese chopped salad was very fresh and not heavy on the dressing. Sweet potato fries were very crisp and flavorful. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered! Definitely get some of the steak sauce on the side. And for dessert, snag the apple crisp — warm and the crumbled topping is so good. Great drink list as well! It’s a nice addition to the square that’s not a chain.

March 14th isn’t just Pi day, my husband and Urban Dictionary insist it’s Valentine’s Day for guys, celebrated with a steak… and something else. Um… sure. The food was pretty decent, but I just don’t see us coming back because at dinner it was REALLY expensive, with few options. Food 4.5 stars Décor 4.5 Prices 2 Other reviews haven’t talked about the steak option so here ya go: –Cooked perfectly –Cut on the bias(strips) so it is impossible to tell what cut of steak you are getting or how much. –Served with a lovely sauce. –Overcooked, but well seasoned fries take up the other half of the plate. –Tossed salad served before hand… not memorable. –Bread was fresh out of the oven served with softened butter. Yum! I stole a few bites from my guy’s plate and had the apple cobbler as dinner instead(Pi day, right?). It was delish, warm, with vanilla ice cream melting on top. But again, overpriced as a desert. Cool, funky, young décor with exposed brick… but the prices will probably keep us from coming back.

I came here for dinner last night because I was craving a sandwich, and I had read about their steak sandwiches. I knew they had a limited menu, but boy was I shocked to pick up the dinner menu and see that by «limited» people meant– ONE option. Steak. At $ 19/pp. Whoa nelly. Thankfully the waiter told me that they were offering the cheesesteak sandwich that night as a special for $ 12/pp. Whew. I mean– there was a part of me that was thinking… hm for that much money I could buy 2 footlong steak subs at Jerry’s with wedge fries and drinks… but oh well– I was committed. I asked if they had a kids menu, they said no– just smaller portions. Ok…so I looked at the menu and honestly there were no descriptions of anything– not even the wine. At $ 7 for a sauteed mushroom side, I’d like to know what it’s sauteed in. At $ 10 for a 5 oz pour of Cabernet– I’d like to know what kind I’ll be drinking! Plus, $ 10 for a 5 oz pour? Really? Feels like nickel and diming– why not just give another 3 ozs? Spoke to the owner about it, and she tried to explain how she gets the most unique wines that aren’t available to other restaurants in the MoCo area from her dealer– but if that’s the case– why not showcase which ones they are on the menu? The steak had no details around how it was seasoned or prepared. When we asked about an espresso — my husband was told that they don’t have that– but they do serve«American» coffee grown in El Salvadore(?) where the proceeds of the coffee go back to the growers… ok– so that is nice and all– but it’s a little too much information. If that’s a THING for them– then print it on the menu(like Founding Farmers does). Our waiter pretty much never came to check on us– I sat there an looked at my dirty empty plate for 10 minutes. I had to ask him where my lemonade was after the food arrived. I was never offered a refill of it, even though it was mostly ice and the glass was really narrow– and it cost me $ 3. My husband asked him if the«Handcut fries» where the fat steak fries– and the waiter said yes– they were actually the complete opposite– more like matchstick fries. After my husband ordered a coffee, the waiter came by and wiped down the table repeatedly to get rid of the bread crumbs– but he used a dirty looking rag. I was so grossed out. Oh– the steak sandwich? Forgettable. In fact, so forgettable that I almost forgot to write about it on this review. The meat tasted good, but the cheese and onion were almost non-existent. Our entire meal for 2 people after tip cost $ 50. And we didn’t even have steak. I feel bad for them, the place is cute, and the owner seems eager and earnest– but there are plenty of other places I’d rather spend $ 50.

Decided to drop by for a lunch pick-up and got the same thing as I did the first time I went — Cheese Steak Sandwich and the Sweet Potato Fries(lunch combo). Learned some tips: Tip # 1 — The Cheese Steak Sandwich can only be ordered during lunch(not available around dinner time). Tip # 2 — It only comes with the meat, cheese and caramelized onions. That’s it. Discovered this when I tried to add some lettuce and tomato to my sandwich and was told I could not get it with that. I still ordered it anyways. This time around, my lunch was more delicious than the first, so I have to give them one more star. Still great service. Update I went again during the week they started their happy hour specials, but decided on having dinner instead — great service brings me back(in addition to trying different foods as well). I got the Steak Dinner for $ 18.82 which is the only choice on the dinner menu, but for the extras that come with it, you have choices. On this date, I opted to have the mix green salad. At the time, I did not know that they would put the dressing on my salad(I thought it would be on the side), so when it came with it and I tasted it, I knew I needed it on the side. When I finally got it on the side, the salad was very fresh(literally) as if they just picked it from a garden… this I liked. In addition to the salad, I also opted for sweet potato fries. When the steak came, I noticed that they had already cut it in slices, which made things a lot easier for me, when it came to cutting pieces and it was good. I will definitely come back here again… maybe try the blue cheese chopped salad and the hand cut fries as my dinner options instead and definitely try to make space to taste their desserts.

What a simple menu! Salad, steak and fries for $ 14.82 for lunch and $ 18.82 for dinner. You get a nice chopped salad– love the blue cheese one and a seven ounce sirloin steak with regular or sweet potato fries. We liked the gravy on top of the steak and the steak was cooked as requested. The owner is really nice. I think the portion is perfect for lunch but a little small for dinner. They do have some of my favorite beers on tap. Will try their brownie dessert next time.

This place just opened up in the square and I anticipate this place to get busy! They have a simple menu: steak, fries, salad, some sides, and dessert. Plus a full bar! Everything was delicious! Both of salad options are yummy, with the mixed greens having a more lemony taste and the other creamy. The steak was great! It comes with a lovely savory sauce(which you can get on the side but I don’t know why you would because it’s that good!) and of course fries(sweet potato or regular). We had the brownie for dessert which was HUGE and amazing! The service was awesome! If you love steak, check this place out!

I’m a sucker for grand openings and that’s how I found myself at 82 Steak Out on a cold Monday night. The concept of this new restaurant is simple and will be familiar to patrons of Medium Rare in Cleveland Park: Choose from two types of salads, choose from two types of fries, choose how you want your steak — and the charge will be $ 18.82.(Of course, there’s a Portobello Mushroom option for our vegetarian friends.) There are several sides and desserts as well as a variety of beers, wines, and liquors that can be added to the bill, too. I had the mix green salad with a steak(medium) and french fries. My boyfriend ordered the opposite — figures! —blue cheese chopped salad with a steak(medium rare) and sweet potato fries. Where I think there’s some room for improvement is the salad, which was just a lot of greens and two grape tomatoes. I say throw some cucumbers, onions, etc., in there and make it a proper house salad. Or how about shifting to a caesar salad? All you need is some cheese and croutons, but it feels much more substantial than what was offered to us tonight. But, what did I think overall? I think I’ll be back. The steak sauce was delicious and definitely was the highlight for me! The service was fast and personal, with the owners coming around to see how our food was. And, the place itself was the right amount of cozy, mixed with industrial modern; perfect for a date night.
