I have seen him myself for some issues, but most importantly for my daughter. Since she was 14 months of age she has been under his care. To let someone do surgery on your 18 month old child isn’t easy for any parent, but Dr. Hammerman is as professional as they come. She’s needed multiple surgeries until the age of 4, and now approaching age 11 has been doing great for years. He really does care about his patients and makes the extra effort to reach out. The rapport he’s developed with my daughter over the past decade is wonderful.

After suffering from chronic tonsillitis for most of my life, I finally decided to do something about it and was referred to Dr. Hammerman by my GP. Upon inspecting my nasty tonsils, I basically begged him to remove them for me. He explained that I will be in a lot of pain and wanted me to really think it over before committing to doing it, but I insisted. He said he’s never seen someone so excited to have surgery done before, but thankfully, he agreed to the procedure.
Anyway, as far as bedside manner goes — this guy is stellar. The night before the surgery, he called to ask if I had any questions. Wow. That was REALLY nice of him to show concern. A little bit of compassion goes a long way and really means a lot to someone who is scared shitless the night before a surgery.
The morning of the surgery, he was there to talk with me, explain everything and was just plain NICE to me. His face was the last thing I saw before being put out and next thing you know, I woke up in recovery, feeling completely reassured that everything was gonna be alright. The staff at Mercy Hospital is amazing and made me feel like I wasn’t just a pain in the ass customer, they treated me with respect and actually cared about my general well-​being.
My surgery was yesterday and everything went great (it feels like I swallowed razor blades, but that’s to be expected) so far, so good. I feel confident knowing I’m in good hands if anything comes up. What was even more reassuring to me was the Dr. Hammerman performed my GP’s son’s tonsillectomy as an adult and he had nothing but good things to say about the guy. I would recommend him to anyone who needs an ENT in the area because it doesn’t get much better than this. His professionalism and courtesy is, unfortunately, not something you see very often.
