Safeway Food & Drug

I love to place large orders for breakfast here. I find the food to be really well received and very affordable. I always call at least a day in advance and place my order, however the last two times that I have placed my orders they were not ready in time. In fact they were ready more than 20 minutes late. I get it, I’m a pretty understanding person, today though there were 3 people working behind the counter, and only one on my order, which was was way behind. A manager walked by and commented on how one of the displays was set up beautifully, and before 8:00 am. It was frustrating watching the woman who was helping me stress out and no one in the team offer to help her out… I hope that someone reads this, and that a more team approach is encouraged.

UNSANITARY!!! At HIGH risk of CROSS CONTAMINATION!!! I have gotten SICK here before, but continue to witness the lazy employee (girl working at 5:45 on Sunday 1÷3÷16). Lazy employee NEVER changes gloves jumping from station to station from slicing meet to Chinese food etc. Uses gloves over and over and then CONTINUES to go about her other duties such as prepping, cleaning etc. wearing those same gloves. Another customer walks up and YES, does NOT change gloves… THIS IS WHAT CAUSES PROBLEMS… CROSS CONTAMINATION… IT IS SIMPLE… change the GLOVES! Simple concepts, but LAZINESS AND IGNORANCE are the problem and POOR TRAINING BY MANAGEMENT!

Abdul is so funny and friendly! I just love him and I go to this safeway weekly and have been for 5 years. Aside from that, today around 8 I went to deli for breakfast burrito and macayla had a customer in front of her. I was next but did not get greeted for about 5 min. They were waiting for something I guess. Just saying, would have been nice to be greeted and told one moment. Then she finishes with him and says, (after 30 seconds) what can i get for you. Her tone was that of a, «i dont want to be here, i had a bad night, customers suck kind of tone. So while she made our burritos, my daughter and i ran to grab some fruit. When we got back she placed burritos on counter and said have a good day and took off. I dont think she made eye contact with us one time nor smile. So i asked if i could pay there and she said yes, but it turned out i couldnt cause i had fruit. So I Dont want her to get in trouble, but maybe just know that its ok to have bad days, but customers can feel and see that, and it was not a very pleasant way to start off the morning. Oir burritos were very good though :)

I shop here often as it is close to my house, but after this most recent trip and about the 3^rd or 4^th time in a row I’ve been treated like trash by the staff, I’m going to Raleys, its just as close and it’s a lot nicer and clean and the employees are nice to me.

I come to this Safeway for my breakfast burritos before work. Mac Daddy Micayla helped me and she was a breath of fresh air. Fresher than the potatoes she served in that awesome burrito for just $ 2.50. I won’t be going to Adalberto’s next door anymore for that $ 6.00 breakfast burrito… unless I feel like brushing up on my spanish. So forget that place. Just go through the doors and follow the laughter that’ll start your day right in Safeway. It’s not the Safeway, it’s the right way!

It’s a good Safeway. It’s usually empty. The only problem? price and barely any check out people. That’s okay, at least their union owned and not WW.

I am more disappointed in the staff than the lack of items. With several new stores opening (Walmart-​grocery, Target, etc) I would expect the staff to help customers rather than talk to each other or their phones. Just disappointed in this.

I’m disappointed Safeway, I expected better from you.
I recently purchased a home near this location after having lived near the location off of Park, man what a difference a few miles make! This store has a poor selection of gluten free and healthier alternatives, what gives? I’ve also come up to the register a few times to find the cashier on their phone, OK… but you make me wait till you’re done sending your txt? Not acceptable. And the place just feels a little run down and dirty. Meh.
I really hope this gets read by management and taken into consideration. I look forward to updating my review with a stellar 5 star one.

Still offering good prices, love supporting local business. Staff is very helpful when I can ‘t fnd something in the store.

I live very close to this Safeway and I could not ask for a better staff or store to visit. Sure, I often times vow to only shop at Winco merely for the cheap prices, but Safeway is where I always end up. You get fantastic service, produce and meats at a great price. It is worth paying a little bit more for what you want!

I just stopped in for a quickie at 10pm on a sat night.
I was surprised to find everything I needed to include grass fed beef! Bonus! They had a huge beer selection, so I just needed a few types of peppers for my impromptu chili and beer night and I would be mission complete.
The cashier was friendly and helpful, hooked me up with a Safeway card discount even though I didn’t have one which saved me a few extra dollars.
I was also stoked to find a movie rental station inside the store. Victory!

Normally I don’t shop at this location, but I was on the way home from… shhhh «Whole Foods»… and I decided to finish up since they were just off the freeway. All I can say is that I’m way glad that I pick up fruits and veggies at the other place ;) They didn’t have an organic section in their produce department. I was completely shocked since every other Safeway I’ve been too (Auburn, Citrus Heights, Folsom) all have a small section just for organics. Maybe they had them spread out through the area, but I didn’t bother to look. They had a pretty good selection, but still lacked way behind the standards of your typical Safeway. The ice cream selection was horrible though. It was so hard to find something that didn’t have preservatives in it, and they didn’t carry any gelato, which I’ve found at all the other locations, maybe not the same selection, but every other one at least at it in stock which this one had zip. The service was fine, but I probably won’t return to this one which I’m really bummed out too since it’s right off the freeway and I don’t have to backtrack on my way home from work :(
