The best burger you can find without overpaying… 5.99 for the meal makes it that much better. Service is always on par. This review is for Rockford’s State Street location only. The one in Belvidere is utterly disappointing.

Yuck. Drove out of the way from the interstate, hoping to find something better than typical fast food. Sorely disappointed. Dry gyros, stale pita, messy dining room. Skip it.

Warning, fries need salt! They are also soggy. I didn’t ask for mustard for my corn-dog, so also disappointing. Raspberry shake good.

Had the chicken on a pita. The chicken was perfect and I still felt like I was eating healthy, however, I would have really used some cucumber sauce. I’ll have to make sure to remember to ask for some next time.

Pretty darn good! I’m still on the search for a real Chicago style hotdog and this is the closest I’ve found so far in the area. Great Gyros and the Cajun chicken sandwich is excellent for a fast food place. I don’t understand how people can like Beef A Poo? Tom and Jerry’s is soooo much better!

Let’s be honest, this is just another fast food shop with the same style of food as many others. Gyros, Italian beef, Burgers, Chicago Style hot dogs, etc. The thing that sets this place above from the rest is that they deliver. That’s right, they deliver! I’ve only eaten in the restaurant a couple of times, mostly I get my food through delivery or take out. the food is what it is, fast, greasy, and comparable flavor to all of the other restaurants like it on the planet. The Reuben is good, but there are many better out there. Gyro’s are decent, but not great. Hot dogs are hot dogs. So if you are looking for that meatball sub that will haunt you for the rest of your life as being perfect, you are not going to find it here. If you Just keep that in mind when you order here. Nothing great, but you won’t be disappointed either.

Though this will be listed under a hot dog list(among others) and is indeed a wonderful place to go for your dog cravings in the Rocktown, this time I went with the classic gyro. Hadn’t indulged in a while and it sounded great. Tom and Jerry’s, you delivered. A delicious sandwich, with juicy meat and fresh onions. And as always, perfectly cooked fries. Combined with my love for fountain soda, Tom and Jerry’s never disappoints.(disclaimer: I burped gyro-onion breath the rest of the night. Worth it.) Not open too late, but they do deliver and have a drive-thru. They also have baklava.

You’re not going to find a place like this outside the Midwest, and not just because they sell the Chicago favorites like Italian beef and dogs that have been dragged through the garden. Rather, the sense of community that permeated Tom and Jerry’s was palpable during my visit — a mishmash of family and friends, folks that were on their lunch breaks, old friends catching up, and parents taking their kids to get something to eat. The menu attempts to please everyone, offering everything from pizza to gyros, and I think that affects the quality a bit in the long run — as evidenced by my hot beef sandwich, which was good, but came with the au jus and giardiniera in little cups on the side, presumably for the ease of use for those going through the drive through. Once everything was on the sandwich it was the messy experience you would expect from one that was dipped, but still a bit lacking. It’s to be expected, I suppose, though it didn’t seem like anyone seemed to mind — this is the type of place that has been around forever and will remain a quintessential neighborhood hangout for long after I get in my car and drive away.

I’d actually give them a 3−½ just b/c for a dog/burger/gyros place, they would be what one should expect and they did not disappoint. The portions are very generous(I got the Gyros sub and the Greek chicken sandwich.) The prices are fair. They were pretty hoppin’ on a Thursday night, so I didn’t think I’d be facing any surprises. The inside had some neat Chicago-roots décor items too. That said, the food was good, about what you should expect from a decent establishment of this cuisine. Gyros meat was good. The fries were crinkle-cut and made well(but note here that I like fries firmer in the middle.) Having tried them, I would feel safe coming back.

I ate here today for lunch. I ordered the Chicago style dog with everything on it and fries. The dog was good Vienna beef and the veggies were fresh and tasted good. The fries were just OK, nothing too special here. It is located right next to another hot dog joint called Nick’s, but I chose Tom & Jerry’s cause of the name. I was happy enough with my choice, but it wouldn’t keep me from trying the neighbor next trip out to Rockford. Overall, I was just happy to see that you could get a good Vienna beef Chicago style hot dog out in Rockford!

Good food all chicago style. If you’re looking for a quick bite and you’re hungry for an Italian Beef, or a gyro or even a burger this place is great. Fast service and their gyro’s are better than uncle nicks, their beef is better than beef a roo and their hot dogs are some of the best in town.

Ok, so their gyros are pretty damn good. And I was always obsessed with Uncle Nick’s. One night, Uncle Nick’s was closed so I went here. YUMMY! Everything was better, the meat was better, the sauce was better, and they put tomatoes on their gyros. The bread is where Uncle Nick’s is better, since it’s like they fry it, where at Tom and Jerry’s, it’s only steamed. They need to take tips from each other. I will try their Italian Beef next time.

Every time I come to Rockford I just HAVE to eat something from here. Their gyro’s are amazing and big. It is packed with a lot of meat and to me this is the best gyro I’ve ever had(anywhere). Their italian beef sandwich and reubens are also great. They also have some cheese fries which go pretty good with any choice above. If you are looking for a great lunch you have to try this place. Guys this will fill you up. I guarantee your girl won’t finish hers which means more for you =) haha
