Went for breakfast on Sunday 5÷15÷16 Had a very nice experience. Nicely decorated. Good service. Excellent food choices, well prepared. Our group had inlets, corned beef hash/eggs & English muffins & eggs with hollandaise… All quite tasty. We shall return again on a regular schedule.

Overall, this is a nice café, with good food. Service was friendly, but slow and had an issue, which is why I rated it a three. I ordered a burger With No tomatoes, add onions, and no bun. I received a burger with no bun, add onions, keep tomatoes, and no chipolte mayo. When I was finally able to get my server over, he fixed it, but it took a few minutes. This was a borderline 3⁄5 experience, but the food really was extremely good, and so I rated a 4⁄10.

Jeanne and I like to come to Lydia’s often. She also goes with a lot of her other friends. It helps that she only lives two blocks away, which is a good thing because Lydia’s is in a residential neighborhood at Rural Oaks in Rockford Illinois. The food is fantastic whether you come for brunch or for lunch. Everything is absolutely delicious. The service is really good too. There’s hardly ever any waiting to come in. It an get busy on Ssturday noonish, so come early.

I used to love Lydia’s, good breakfast, good service, great price. They recently did some renovations and the prices jumped. Fine. But sitting in a restaurant where no one has food and we’ve been waiting for eggs for 45 minutes is just not ok. If you go, avoid Sunday mornings for sure!

I have never had a bad meal here. The chorizo potato pancakes are delicious. The staff is prompt and friendly. I always have a great experience. Everyone should know about Lydia’s.

Good breakfast, small café. Love that the dishes are named after streets in Rockford!

Stopped in today for breakfast. I am trying to follow a paleo diet, so I had the Gardinier omlette(no cheese) and and settled for an English muffin because if was hungry and there were no other sides I could eat. I wanted to substitute my hash browns for fruit, but was told there was NOFRUIT in the restaurant… seems crazy to me that a breakfast joint across the street from a grocery store doesn’t offer fruit… just saying. My boyfriend had the tacos and he thought they were fantastic. We’ll be back for the tacos and I’ll cross my fingers they won’t be out of fruit for those of us trying to eat healthy!

I’m excited that we found a reliable breakfast joint that is local, absolutely delicious and very affordable. My family is very picky about breakfast and they were giddy after their meal. The best part for me was the buttermilk pancake. I wondered why that only served one at a time, it’s because they’re the size of a dinner plate! Their décor and coffee are not inspirational and could use some improvement. It was diner coffee, but drinkable. Beats the pants off the other breakfast places in town, without a doubt. We’ll be back, and soon.

My family has been coming here for years for breakfast. Down the street, friendly staff, they bring us new hot sauce to taste. What’s not to like? Well they re-vamped the space this year and let me tell you how beautiful it is now. It feels upscale but still welcoming, the colors are modern, and I certainly can’t stumble in wearing pajamas anymore. I love what they’ve done with the place. The menu is also smaller, including some popular specials. This is good and bad, leaving me less to choose from but the new options fit the fancier feel of Lydia’s. Omelettes are a solid choice, the pancakes are ridiculously huge, breakfast tacos are a delight, and if you request hot sauce, you’ll get an entire damn basket(score!). You will leave Lydia’s with a fully stomach, happy heart, and barely a dent in the wallet.

Lydia’s is a small restaurant with delicious food. The works is a yummy breakfast of eggs, meat, potatoes and choice of toasts for $ 5.00 which is a bargain in this economy. It’s closed on Monday and serves only breakfast and lunch.

i like to try new places and i heard lydia’s was a nice small little café so a few coworkers and i stopped in for lunch. i ordered corned beef hash off the breakfast menu(which is served all day) and my coworkers ordered a chicken wrap. my lunch was delicious. portions of hash and egg were just right and the price was very fair. my coworkers also enjoyed their lunches. only saw one server while we were there, this place is small but could have used maybe 2 servers. i could have used a refill on water but overall the service is good, the employees are nice and the meals are great.

Three of us went for a late breakfast today. This is a small café, with about a 50:50 mix of seniors and young adults. Our order was taken swiftly, but the food(eggs Benedict, corned beef hash, and Swedish pancakes) took over 30 minutes to arrive, although there didn’t seem to be many orders going in or coming out of the kitchen at the same time as ours. The food was good, but not great. The coffee was lamentably typical of restaurant coffee. The menu is reasonably interesting, however, so perhaps lunch is in order some other day.

This morning I woke up and thought: I want breakfast sausage. I can honestly say that I haven’t had this thought in many years(as far as breakfast meats go, I prefer bacon). BUT — after I had the breakfast sausage at Lydia’s Café, I find myself craving breakfast sausage once more! Sadly, no other sausages can compare to the ones at Lydia’s. Where do these sausages come from? Breakfast Meat Fairies, I’m sure. They come in a set of two and are the size of bratwursts. They’re not super greasy or grisly. Just the right amount of spice. My my my. Haven’t ever had such a tasty sausage. Aside from the sausage, the rest of the breakfast fare was lovely. Not overly greasy and the portions, while filling, weren’t unapproachably huge. Except the pancake. The pancake was larger than anything I’ve ever seen. If you want pancakes, I would suggest getting one… cause there’s no need for that much pancake. The café itself is small so come early(before the church crowd, Grandma says) or be ready to wait.
