This is a mandatory stop for my mother whenever she comes up to visit. Her ethos can be summarized like this… NPR. Never Pay Retail. To whit, the reason she loves Windsor Cottage is that it is an upscale consignment store, expertly curated. If you’re out hunting for furniture and décor, this has to be one of the stops you make.

We arrived with expectations of vintage finds and discounted used furniture. Map directions lead you to believe you’re headed to a retail center, but the store is *behind* a retail center and in the corner unit of a commercial condominium. A cross between an office complex and a warehouse. Inside, it’s a store. A furniture store. Most of the sofas and chairs seem to be new, we were told certain items can be ordered with your choice of upholstery. Don’t misunderstand me on this — they’re not offering to reupholster old pieces, you can order new custom furniture. Wouldn’t that be a nice store — filled with old furniture and priced to include new upholstery of your choosing! Does that exist? Please tell me if so. Honestly, these ladies might be able to meet that request, but not much inside seemed to need it. The front part of the store is a dozen or so rooms filled with well-displayed new or well cared for items, most are sold by the store directly but a few were consigned. Most of the consigned items are in the back room, which is a large warehouse-like room. This is definitely where I’ll head straight to on any future visits. While there weren’t really amazing deals to be found, the offerings were much more what I was looking for. A selection of random décor, a few things of substantial size such as a dining set or a roll-top desk. I was hoping for more«finds» and fewer«customizable» items. However, this will definitely be on the list of places to find super awesome adorable gifts or that perfect slightly expensive accent piece.

The ladies at Windsor Cottage are extremely helpful and their merchandise is fantastic! If you are looking for country french, estate sale, and some new lamps/art/furniture at a decent price, you should really stop in. They don’t have Salvation Army prices, but they don’t have Salvation Army quality stuff either! After a crazy weekend of furniture shopping for my new apartment, Windsor Cottage was a breath of fresh air. I’m very happy with my purchases and will continue shopping at there in the future.
