I stopped into Greenovation on the recommendation of Bruce, owner of the antique shop Useless Objects(great place, btw). When I walked in the front door I was immediately greeted by Sarah, the owner of Utter Clutter inside Greenovation. She asked what I was on the prowl for and I ran down my usual list. She thought hard as I mentioned each collectible and shook her head… mmmm, nope… Sorry, none of that… Not in a while. She put her arm in mind and walked me into her area of the large building and walked me through the entire place. What about this, or these, maybe that? I got to return the favor this time… Shaking my head… Ummmm, nope! LOL :) She was the sweetest woman I have had the pleasure of sharing my time with in quite a while. She had pointed out a beautiful Jefferson Golden Hour Clck as she ran me through her list. I had never seen one before. Beautifully styled mid-century modern and gold tone, it called me back. She told me it used to work at one time but not anymore. I turned it over, examined it and told Sarah that it had to come back to Texas with me. She said, then it must! I can’t say enough nice things about Sarah, a real gem of a lady! She took the time to walk me around the entirety of Greenovation and tell me about each area and each artist’s work… Even though closing time had come and gone she made my company feel welcome and asked me stop back in the next day. Utter clutter is an amazing consolidation of anything and everything you can think of and a great place to clear your mind… Leave it there. I found myself feeling happy, content, and utterly uncluttered as I headed out! Oh yeah, and that clock. I stowed it in my carry on bag and got it home in one piece. Disassembled it, cleaned it up and repaired it! Found the date of manufacture inside 12−1−53! I hope to keep it around for another 62 years, it keeps amazing time and will forever remind me of my trip to take my son to college at RIT in Rochester! Thanks, Sarah

Utter Clutter isn’t gone, it’s just moved from the Park Ave location! You can still visit Sarah(AKA Nana) and her funky/cool/retro/bizarre store at its new location at 1199 East Main Street in Rochester. It’s right across the street from Autozone, inside the Rochester Greenovations building.

This happened to be the only store that was open on a Monday when I visited Rochester with my family. The place lives up to its name as it is filled with every imaginable item you can find. Some of the items are in good condition while others are in bad shape. I almost bought a record or two of The Beatles but they were so water-damaged, I had to pass. The clerks in this store are very friendly and upbeat. So even if you aren’t into places like this, you have to visit it just to see how much it lives up to its name.

If you are looking for unique gifts or just a fun and interesting way to decorate your place, utter clutter is your place! from prints, kitchen items, awesome jewelry and much more. The owner, Sara, is so helpful, friendly and always has fun stories to tell. I love everything about this place(yes even the second hand smoke ;P) and is one of my favorite go to places in Rochester.

If you are looking for something, unique, odd, from your childhood or disturbing then head to this place. I love Utter Clutter. The owner Sarah is a crazy lady who can tell you a story behind almost anything in the store. Deals on things vary depending on many factors. It’s one of those places where the more you buy, the more you can save. I totally recommend going here to blow a good $ 20+ on a bunch of cool stuff. You can find some really spectacular pieces of art, clothing, antique and original stuff.

The name says it all. There’s a little bit of everything(both new and old) packed into this store. The woman who was running the place when I was there was eccentric and friendly and chatted with us as my friend and I wandered around. Not everything has a price, but if you ask they’ll come up with one and it’s usually pretty reasonable. I got a really nice old print of a watercolor of a street in France that I love and my friend got a really cute dress. The hours are definitely«flexible» but there’s so much else nearby that even if they’re closed you can grab a bit to eat at Hogan’s Hideaway or browse Parkleigh.

This place is amazing. Its a combination weird antique store /garage sale /thrift store staffed by an pair of eccentric junk-collecting women. I could spend hours there. Last time I was there I picked up two antique(well, at least old) piggy banks. Beware: The hours are odd(and subject to change if the owners don’t feel like being there). I’ve gone there during regular hours to find it closed, and I’ve gone after hours and found it open.
