Slappy’s Rib Shack

OHHHHH my Goodness! This place is dellish! My second time here. This time had Slappy’s Fries… a generous amount of fries topped with melted cheddar and BBQ Pulled pork! Hubby had burger topped with 2 cheeses, pulled pork, sauce and loads of toppings. Deep
Fried Breaded Banana Peppers with ranch dip. Sampled their WINGS. What a DEAL in price… cause you get the WHOLE wing … not part of it like most of your chain places do. We also got dinner … ½ rack of ribs (VERY meaty and smoky!) with 2 sides. I have NEVER had better Baked beans then they have! It could be a meal! I am trying the breaded mushrooms next time! We moved to central Indiana from Chicago. And very fussy on food. If this place was in Chicago… it would get an A PLUS! So all my Chicago peeps… this is a MUST stop to place. Wish there was inside eating area… but get why there isn’t. The staff is a multi tasker! … Cook and order taker… VERY nice and professional. You can’t miss it… Follow the smokers!

Half way decent BBQ, but it is nothing to rave over. Granted, I live in the south and know my bbq, but the pulled pork lacked flavor. 2 of us ordered the pulled pork and 1 ordered a half chicken. We all commented that everything was decent but could have been better. There definitely is room for improvement.

Very good hand-​breaded pork tenderloin sandwich, potato salad and baked beans. This is a little carry-​out place with a few picnic tables outside. The people were nice. Customers around me were ordering pulled pork and chicken wings, and talking about how this place has the best BBQ in the area. Good place.

Great BBQ. I love the pulled pork. They also have a very good hand breaded Tenderloin. You can’t go wrong with Slappy’s.

Wonderful food. Their rib sandwich is heavenly, obviously the ribs are as well. Pulled pork is very good but I always get the rib sandwich. Prices are very reasonable. My only complaint is that it’s carry out only, no tables. Very worth stopping.

If your looking for some good olé BBQ this the place.
Had the «Ultimate» pulled pork sandwich with the pepper jack and slaw on it. Great flavor. My preference would have been a little more slaw.
The wife had the «Slappy burger», which was made from fresh ground beef with cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, bacon and BBQ sauce. Definitely worth having if you are not pulled pork or rib person.
For sides the potato salad was OK, but bake beans were exceptional with generous portion of pull pork on them.
Deep fried mushrooms were good a with a hearty taste. Different than the normal process frozen breaded mushrooms.
Took a half rack home for supper. Some of the best fall off the bone ribs in the area. If you like ribs you want be disappointed.
The sauce is a good sweet tangy sauce.
Prices are reasonable also.
Only wish they had a dine in area.

I love Slappy’s. Best pulled pork sandwich around — great hickory smoke flavor with a really good sauce. They will add more sauce if you want it, but I rarely have them do it. You have to try the Bacon Cheddar Fries — Amazing! The ½ chickens are really good. I have had the ribs — a little pricey, the last time I had them they were a little dry, but still good. On your own on the brisket, I have never had it, I am not a brisket fan, but I would trust them with brisket if it is your thing.
The burgers are good too… They did an off menu burger for me too — the «Slappy Burger» with pulled pork and bacon on it becomes «The Porkinator». — ask for it, if they make it for you you won’t regret it. Slappy’s is take out only.
If you live in Rochester or the area — What are you waiting for ??? If you are driving through, don’t miss it.

Pretty darned good ribs. Good smoke good flavor. Had the potato salad and baked beans. Beans were very good. Whole lot of food for a little moolah.

Absolutely the best BBQ in the area — chicken, ribs and on Thursday — brisket!
Small place and the food sells out FAST!
