Great building & atmosphere. We had fun playing the shuffle board. Came in for a flight after shopping around at the public market on a Saturday around noon– It was busy but in a good way, not overly packed. All different ages, some parents even brought their kids. Good beer & definitely would like to come back and try the wood fired pizza.

.This review is for the Rohrbach Beer Hall and Brewery on Railroad Ave. I’m guessing some folks have it confused with the regular Rohrbach’s Brewpub(which has a great menu). This location now has some menu items, but it’s limited(which is fine by me). I like this location for a tasting and to chill. We have participated in a couple of the Brewga classes(Brew and yoga! Nothing like having a beer while you practice yoga!) We first visited the location around the 2015 holidays. In between shopping and wrapping, we spent some time sipping and socializing with the staff because it was pretty quiet. My husband is partial to the Scotch Ale and I am prefer the Vanilla Porter. This location has a nice«wide open» feel and lots of wood. The bar staff is hit and miss with regards to service, but if you go when it’s quiet during«off hours», it’s nice. They were out of the Vanilla Porter when we went, so I tried something new. We filled a growler, but we think they may have filled it with the wrong selection. It was still pretty good. The last time we went they had wood-fired pizza and some nice salad selections. The acoustics are a little weird and with only one other party in the room, it seemed very loud. The Black Button Distillery is next door, so it’s nice to visit both locations when you are in the neighborhood.

Stopped in while we were brewery hopping and immediately loved the big open space and design. No food here yet, but they had a sign that showed they are going to be making their own brick oven pizzas soon. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly. Ordered a flight with a blueberry ale, vanilla porter, patty’s Irish cream ale, and the Bock. M tried the Next Door ale and Blonde. All the beers were good, but none really stood out to me. While I liked this place, there were other places in the area that left a stronger impression. However, our experience was A-OK here and I would return if in the area again.

Just had a networking event there the other night. Impressed with the atmosphere and décor. However, the bar was«out» of a number of staple drinks. When I did order, the bartender over poured and handed me the drink spilling it allll over the bar. Not too happy with that :/

First time at the renovated Beer Hall space and I see myself returning many times. I mainly went for the Space Kitty which made its return to the Rohrbach lineup this past week. To my surprise, they just started offering wood fired pizzas as a food option. I tried a flavorful cheese and pepperoni that had a good crust and well balanced sauce. I hope they expand the menu to include some shared plate appetizer-type dishes to provide a variety of options, but who doesn’t like pizza? They are also one of the few places to offer a shuffleboard table that I have seen.

Our first time stopping in since they redid the place. It looks fantastic. I like how the flights are larger samples as well and the beer is fantastic. Most definitely will be back.

This is a great place for group tours! Their side room was perfect and all the beers are great. Would definitely go back.

I adore their beverages and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. Customer service couldn’t be better. Can’t wait for those new pizza ovens to be up and running!

Let me preface my review by admitting that being from the Pacific Northwest, I am aware I have been spoiled by a plethora of insanely good microbreweries. That being said, this place could hold its own against a number of them back home. The vanilla porter is on point. I would highly recommend it. The Railroad Street IPA is solid, albeit not as hoppy as the bartender boasted(once again I’m just spoiled by NWIPA). The black IPA, however is the best black IPA I have ever tasted. The atmosphere of the tasting room is very nice minus the fact that I was sitting behind a large group of incredibly loud 20-somethings. it happens, though, and not the fault of the establishment. I’m definitely coming back again soon.

Great beer, and definitely a cool place to just hang out an drink. If you go on a Saturday, you can hit up the public market. The brewery tour wasn’t all that great, so I’d only recommend it if you’re an avid microbrewery fan and are dead set on the tour. The vanilla porter is really good.

The Good: I really like Rohrbach’s beers. I’ve probably tried between 20 – 25 of their various brews they’ve crafted over the past several years and have liked almost all of them. They also seem to be a little bit cheaper than the competition. Their location on Railroad street is really nice inside, with lots of exposed wood and kind of an old factory feel. If you go on a Saturday when the market is open there are usually at least a dozen people at the bar. The Bad: Until recently you couldn’t get an actual pint; only flights. They don’t really do food here either. Times I’ve Gone: ~40 I Usually Order: Their seasonals, like Irish Cream Ale, Pumpkin Ale, Kacey’s Christmas Ale. If I want their classics I usually grab the cans at Wegmans.

I enjoyed the atmosphere but I wasn’t blown away by the tasting. $ 5 gets you a small glass of 6 different beers, and they are generous with their pours. I enjoyed a few of the beers, but many of them weren’t overly flavorful. Additionally, the bartender was pouring some of them out of growlers in ice, and others from the draft. The ones I had from the growlers were not nearly cold enough, and I think this adversely impacted the taste of those beers. This place is definitely cool and in a great location, but hopefully all of the beers can be fully cold for the tasting in the future.

I really like the blueberry ale and tried a few other beers that were good as well. A wonderful place to stop after a trip to the Public Market. 6 generous samples and a tasting glass for $ 5 as well as some convivial company makes for a nice way to end your shopping trip.

On a whim, decided to bring my beer-loving Brother-in-Law here for a brewery tour and tasting on a Saturday when he was up visiting from NC. Upon entering we saw a sign that said«tours every hour on the hour» and looked at our clock and it was 3:50. We both say«PERFECTTIMING!!» We excitingly make our way to the tasting counter and say we’d like a tour and tasting and the kind gentleman informed us that they close at 4. JUSTOURLUCK!!! But the 2 workers allowed us to sample a few brews and chat about TV shows on Netflix before we left.(the Vanilla Porter was delish!) I so should have checked out their hours prior to going but just assumed on a glorious Saturday in June, they’d be open all day. Didn’t even think to check the hours for them on Unilocal. Ah well, will definitely come back again to check out the place more. We did stop at Hegedorns in Webster and grab a growler of Patty’s Irish Style Cream Ale and it was DELICIOUS! Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was the disappointment with the shorter hours. :-/

Thanks Rohrbach’s for supporting the opening of the distillery next door. We were quickly lured in by the 10% off coupon and the offerings of tasty samples. Beer was had, growlers were purchased, it was a fine way to start the day.

Rohrbach’s is one of the Rochester area’s finest microbreweries, which has become a big thing in town. The expansion of Rohrbach to the Railroad street location a few years ago, really brought them to that next level. I’m particularly fond of the Highland Lager, the Scotch Ale and the Railroad Street IPA. You can do a tasting every Saturday for $ 2, which is a bargain. I’m anxious to try new and seasonal brews.

This craft brewery is doing a lot of things right, like a great location on Railroad St. by the public market and a great interior. The street entrance sets up an almost clandestine feel with a single polished wood exterior door off the sidewalk. Open it, and you climb a few entry steps to a huge open area with a welcoming, spot-on mix of high-ceilinged warehouse industrial meets old wood feel(I have no idea how old the wood – bar, tables, seating, etc – is, but it’s perfectly integrated and feels like it’s been there as long as the warehouse). To clarify the other reviews, the tasting no longer is by donation; you can sample 6 for $ 5. Two thumbs up for the Octoberfest and Scotch ale brews in particular. Other seasonal offerings were a little more hit and miss, but hey, it’s fun to try them.

On a cold and windy Saturday early afternoon I was running into the Public Market to try to get some good beef for my Sunday Cooking. At the parking lot, I met with some friends that were on their way out, and they invited me to get some beers at Rohrbach, s, so I ditched the beef buying for some beer drinking. The tasting space is not small, not huge, but very comfortable. Nicely decorated with beer related memorabilia and other brewery items. With dark woods and tall tables, it is a nice place to hang after(or instead) a morning in the market. They had a selection of 6 beers for tasting, and two or three more for buying, and as usual for Rohrbach’s, they are well made. I enjoyed the porter and the blueberry ale, both had a good balance of flavors, but even the IPA(my least favorite type of beer) had a good flavor. My only complain is that the service seemed to be hurried and a bit out of control, but we did manage to get our tastings(and a complimentary beer glass) for $ 5!

Finally, I remembered to check this place out on a Saturday afternoon! Put a reminder on your calendar folks, and label it «Beer O’clock.» From the other reviews, I expected a free tasting with suggested donation. However, it seems things are priced differently now. But $ 5 for a 20-min tour, 6 tasters, and a tasting glass, it’s a bargain. We arrived in time for the last tour of the day at 2pm and joined about 10 other people in learning about the beer-making process at Rohrbach. The tour guide was knowledgable and answered our questions. He spoke a little fast, so it helps if you’re already familiar with the general process. We tasted six beers, and here are my quick thoughts/rankings: #1 Blueberry Ale — light, refreshing, real blueberry flavor #2 Red Ring Red — flavorful, intense, easy to drink #3 Barley Wine — tangy, slightly sweet, interesting #4 South Wedge Wheat — smokey, but manageable #5 California IPA — pretty standard, would easily drink a glass #6 Scotch Ale — usually a favorite, but didn’t stand out among the other beers They also had root beer and orange cream soda on draft, and more beer varieties available(vanilla porter and railroad st. IPA). The space is beautiful with lots of exposed wood and seating. You’ll probably end up i the bar area though, because they only give you tastings one glass at a time, not by the flight.

Do yourself a favor and head here for a tasting one morning(or afternoon!) you’re at the Public Market. Drinking and grocery shopping? Whaaat? No seriously. It’s awesome. The building is sweeeet. I have visions of having a private party here. It’s perfect for beer or foodie-oriented events. I love the exposed brick and all the glorious wooden furniture(it actually has an Amish-made feel to it). The tasting bar is always staffed by friendly and happy people and get this — the tasting fee is a donation. It’s optional. That’s right, if you’re a cheap bastard you can buy all your groceries for under $ 40 for the week at the market and then pop over for a free fresh one! The Rohrbach beers are on the whole a good standard. My personal go-to is the Scotch Ale. The other seasonal and more creative ones can be hit-or-miss, but overall they are usually well-balanced. I also like that Rohrbach’s hasn’t jumped on the over-hopping bandwagon. They don’t go crazy with their IPAs and make a number of malt-based brews, which is less trendy but sometimes more palatable when it seems that all you ever see are 7% and above beers anymore! Tours go every hour and I think are worth doing sometime. Then you can pop down the street for some Le Petit Poutine and also to the cool metal/wood working studio that custom makes furniture just next door. Even better, take a walk by Station 55 and check out some of neatest and coolest new lofts for rent downtown. Rohrbach’s tasting room led the way on Railroad Street — check it out!
