Be prepared for register shock at the end of your appointment. My sister got married on Saturday, and myself and the other bridesmaids as well as the mother of the bride decided we might as well get our hair done professionally since it was $ 60 a person, which isn’t too terrible, even though we’re pretty good at doing our own hair. So, we were very shocked to be rung up for not $ 60, but $ 97, $ 104, $ 134, and $ 134, just for updos. The woman working the front desk was completely unsympathetic and rude to the fact that I was expecting to be charged less than half of what I was(as one of the unlucky $ 134s), and just said that whoever scheduled it must have made a mistake. That’s the company’s mistake of poor training, and they should cover it. Luckily, I loved my hair, and all of the actual stylists were wonderful, hence the 2 stars. The bride was incredibly embarrassed and felt like it was her fault because she had made the appointments, which of course we don’t blame her but it’s something that could have been avoided on her big day if Rocco Altobelli had both more sympathetic employees at the front desk to at least acknowledge how huge of a mistake they had made, and people making appointments who know proper price breakdowns in the first place. The website lists special occasion hair as $ 62.

I’ve been going to this salon for almost 3 years, and like another poster stated, they have priced themselves out of my business. For the prices they charge, I should be ultra-pampered. Surely, there are salons in town that do a good job for reasonable rates.

Rocco’s is way over priced and take advantage of its long time customers. Don’t go to Rocco’s. Rochester has many more salons that are more genuine and responsible businesses. Pick them.

I went in for balayage highlights and the colorists said she knew how to do it. I learned afterwards that she did not do it properly based on how it looked and talking to another certified hairdresser. She used foils for my highlights and then put me under the heater for too long so it bleached way too much. Will never get color done there again. My hair cut was done by another individual and that part was great. Be wary of getting color done unless you know exactly how it SHOULD be done. I believe I had the same individual mentioned in Emily S.‘s review below. Yikes!
