Orkin Pest & Termite Control

I called Orkin due to a pest problem we were having. They scheduled an inspection with us that was going to cost $ 95, which would then be rolled into the cost of treatment if we decided to go ahead with it. The guy shows up and spent about 35 minutes with a flashlight looking for signs of the pests (which I’d done a dozen or more times) and, after finding nothing, hems and haws over a price of treatment for us. Finally settling on $ 600 for a «bare minimum» treatment because he didn’t think we had much of a problem. We scheduled the treatment for a week later. He said someone would send me a prep sheet to let me know what we needed to do to get ready for the treatment and left.
A day before the treatment I still haven’t gotten the prep sheet. I called the office and a woman told me that she would e-​mail it to me and then started to list off some of the things we’d have to do to get ready. They were insane and we had not been warned. We did not have enough time to prepare, so we rescheduled. I still never got the prep sheet that day.
I called the next day to say I still hadn’t gotten it and spoke with someone else who said it was «sitting right here on my desk!» She said she emailed it to me. I got it about 8 hours later.
The day the treatment was supposed to happen I called because there was no way I could do the prep they required (I have two shall children and two elderly people living with me and Orkin was asking me to tear the house apart). After speaking with several more people and getting contradicting answers (or no answers at all) I finally said I was canceling the treatment and I wanted a refund, since I did not believe that the 35 minutes of poking around with a flashlight just to find nothing was worth $ 95. They said they’d check with someone and give me a call right back.
Five days later I called them again to say I never got a call back and wanted a refund to be told that there was no note of a decision made in the system and they would call me back the next day. I doubt I will get a call tomorrow either.
Needless to say, I looked elsewhere. I found Town and Country Solutions
who were knowledgeable and quick, came today and did my inspection (finding evidence of the pests within 3 minutes) and the treatment at the same time. They were friendly and answered all my questions without any hemming and hawing and they have a six month guarantee as opposed to Orkin’s 30 day guarantee. I would recommend Town and Country Solutions in a heart beat. As for Orkin, I just want my money back.
