Wonderful dining experience at Michael’s valley grill tonight! Unfortunately no fish fries since they are SOPOPULAR. I will have to shoot for the next time. Loved the atmosphere and the service. Not to mention the fabulous love jazz– thank you for that!

I have to say their Sunday sauce is delicious. It has lots of oregano, onions, a touch of sugar, it’s different but amazing. I got the chicken Romano and loved it. There was also live music and warm bread with tomato pesto waiting for us!

Best dinner out we have had in a while!!! Waitress was on point– not overly attentive but came only when we needed something or to do a quick check in. Bartender was fast and nice and Martini drink was delicious. Table was ready right away but they didn’t rush us to sit. Bang bang shrimp was AWESOME so we’re both meals. Steak perfectly cooked and chickenmilanese was incredible. $ 155 for 4 glasses of wine an app a meal and dessert; a little pricey but worth it! Definitely going back!!! And soon!

I was visiting Rochester on business and this spot was chosen for dinner. When you pull up its in a small strip mall but when you walk in its so cosy and elegant that you forgot how you go there. Excellent bar service and the waiter was most helpful and funny The signature app is the Bang Bang Shrimp which was very good. Get the Charred Calamari as they are perfect in a nice caper, tomato sauce perfect to mop up with some bread I enjoyed a wonderful Iceberg Wedge and its served chilled as it should be with a home made blue cheese dressing. I went with the Cioppino as they are known for their ability to do fish really well and it was a delicious. Shrimps, clams, calamari and white fish in savory tomato broth. The grilled Italian bread didn’t last long mopping up the juices. Trust me you will want another slice of bread. My dinner party enjoyed the 20 oz cowboy steaks and the Gorgonzola steak. These guys really do steaks well Add a wonderful Stags Leap Cabernet and you will be happy Only issue I had is they dont understand the zeppole dessert. They offer up a bundle of delcious and warm mini donuts but from my part of italy they come served with cream and sour cherries. I was hoping for a Zeppole di San Giuseppe. we compared photos with the waiter and had a great laugh A drink with the owner later at the bar was a nice conversation about food, wine and other great places to eat in Rochester

10 of us went to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We started out with warm fresh baked bread with a tapanade which was very good. Moved on to three appetizers: bang bang shrimp, calamari, and fried onion rings. All very good. Salads were fresh and good sized. My husband and I had chicken French and fish fry for our entrees. Birthday cake was a pyramid of warm, melt in your mouth mini cinnamon fried donuts. Unbelievably yummy. Very attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely recommend and return.

This restaurant has an authentic old school Italian restaurant — down to the curtained windows. Had the bang bang shrimp which was good and then chicken piccata for the entrée. The entrée was ok — I had hoped to get my socks blown off! The dinner crowd is definitely older, but the wait staff is young. Ok experience. Would give it another chance and hope to give it 4 stars.

This place is was such an amazing surprise. My wife and I were out at Home Depot with our son. We were planning on going back to Webster to eat but decided to pull up Unilocal and see if there was anything in the area that caught the eye. Michaels Valley Grill popped up and the reviews were positive. I gave them a call to see if we could be seated, it was 5:20 on a Friday so I knew the chances were slim. Hostess said they she could if we could be there by 5:30. We were then in minutes and this place just continued to impress and surprise. Michaels Valley Grill in in this little strip mall but the outside is very cute but the inside décor blew us away. It was so cute and friendly. Tons of natural light and the staff was super friendly when we walked in. My wife started wit ha house salad and I had a cup of clam chowder. It was amazing. My wife’s main course was the panko crusted Romano and mine was a special, fillet with three grilled stuffed shrimp and a side. Both were amazing. This place was a total last minute spur of the moment decision. We had no clue this place existed but now that we know it does it will be on our regular rotation for date night. HIGHLYRECOMMEND.

Seated immediately! Nice atmosphere, not to bright but just enough to capture smiling faces. Had the Chicken French and the Gorgonzola Filet. All cooked to perfection. It’s nice, but it is not Sinatra’s. They were so nice and part of me feels awkward saying it, but the facts are what this is all about. A little price heavy.

Hidden gem in a small plaza in Penfield. They hit the trifecta — very good food at reasonable prices and very good service!

We met a couple of friends at Michael’s Valley Grill on a Friday night. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated around 7:40. Not bad as it gave us time to chat at the bar. My wife and I had dined here years ago and from what I recall we enjoyed our meals. I’m happy to report this place is still very good. We started with a couple of appetizers, the arancini and the fried calamari. Both were excellent. I ordered a scallop special which was delicious. My wife ordered a rare Kobe burger and it was cooked perfectly. The only thing about the burger she didn’t like was that it had iceberg lettuce on it. Overall, everyone loved their food and we really enjoyed ourselves. The service was exceptional. This place is located in a tiny strip mall. Don’t be out off by this as the dining room is beautiful. It’s a great room and a great restaurant, especially to dine with friends. I would gladly recommend Michaels to my friends and family.

Went here for our anniversary! The service was outstanding! We ordered drinks before sitting down and they just added it to our food bill. We ordered an outstanding appetizer which was tasty and very fresh. The dinners were great! They had daily specials which sounded awesome! We both had a fish dish which was great! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Been here a few times and must say food is consistent. Started with Bang Bang shrimp, excellent. Had the double cut pork chop while my wife had a chicken dish with a lemon sauce. Both meals came with broccoli that was heavy on the garlic. As always the service was very good and the wine list ok. Would probably go more often if the menu would change, plus it is a little on the pricy side. Except for specials it has pretty much stayed the same for quite awhile. I gave it a 3 but it is more like a 3.5

So my girlfriend and I had made it a plan to start a date night(we’re both college students so we decided to save up money for two weeks and go blow it on a fancy dinner). We get to Michaels, Google Maps had made it pretty difficult to find but a local Penfield resident had made it easier for us, and we were treated to an absolutely AMAZING date night dinner. We had gotten the strip steak and the Friday special fresh haddock and were waited on hand and foot and treated like family. This was my favorite part that sealed the deal to start making this a regular place for us, it was so filling and good that we decided to box it up and take the leftovers. Our busboy came out and said«I’m so sorry! I accidentally threw out your leftover fish! I’m REALLYREALLY sorry! I just asked them to make you a new one though, but I’m still so so sorry!» He came right out not even five minutes later with a delicious new piece of fish. The fact that he took it upon himself and came right out and admitted his mistake to us and went above and beyond to make sure we still had our fish was really awesome. It’s safe to say that we really love Michael’s Valley Grill. Props to you guys, it was a $ 70 well worth spent and we can’t wait to see you guys soon!

For all you out of towners, please don’t leave the Rochester area without stopping by for dinner at Michaels Valley Grill in Penfield. Tucked in a quaint shopping area on Penfield Road, Michaels is by far one of the best Restaurants we have in the Rochester area. Our entire family has enjoyed a unique dining experience there for over 25 years. The food is fabulous and varied, service always suburb and atmosphere homey and warm. Michaels has been owned by the same family for over 25 years and is solidily consistant in every way. It’s always a pleasure to be warmly greeted upon arrival and know that they go out of their way to make your dining experience perfect in every way. We always look forward to our next night out at Michael’s. Don’t miss the opportunity.

I was surprised that this place was there, in a strip mall across from a regular(and fantastic) restaurant called Charley Brown’s. I visited on October 18th, 2013, and the guy at the bar couldn’t have been more indifferent. The only reason why I even got a drink is because the couple that I sat next to at the bar had recently won a «football pool,» so they were celebrities. Otherwise, this is 180 degrees from what should or could be expected. I spent a lot of time with the couple just shooting the breeze, but when it was obvious that because I was a stranger I would never get looked at again, I just put down some cash and told my fellow bar mates«I am out of here — these guys don’t deserve my business. «And the male portion of the couple reacted to this by saying«and be sure to not come back». That is what you get at this strip mall. Just go to Charley Brown’s across the street and you wouldn’t get any of this treatment in a million years. That is a FACT and I would love to see anyone say that they have been treated like anything but royalty there. Strip malls are for tanning parlors and stores for hair products.

even though this restaurant is in a strip mall next to a laundromat ad a dog groomer, you really need to try it. I have been several times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. In fact the food is really really good. It is a bit pricy but worth it.

After passing by this place for years, we finally decided to try it last night. Being a friday, my partner ordered a fish fry, while I tried to find something vegetarian on the menu. Note to vegetarians: there ain’t much you’ll find here. This is a meat and fish place. Finally, I decided on a chipotle pasta dish with chicken, figuring that there probably wouldn’t be a huge amount of protein in that dish(unlike nearly every other dish on the menu). When the dishes came, my partner’s ‘traditional’ fish fry was coated in a very NON-traditional panko breadcrumb coating, but was otherwise decent and tasty. His side of pasta was rather bland, though. My pasta dish, OTOH, was a jarring combination of too-spicy chipotle seasoning liberally sprinkled over a cream sauce, that sat in my stomach like hot lava for the next several hours. It’s been YEARS since I’ve had indigestion and heartburn like this! Even 16 hours later(after a night of fitful sleep and heartburn), my stomach is STILL churning. I would suggest all but those with a cast-iron stomach AVOID this dish at all cost. I would also suggest that the chef learn a little restraint when pairing spices and sauces like these. The service was excellent, and the cocktails were likewise good. The bar seems to attract the middle-to-older set(probably after golfing), and the drumkit set up in the front makes me believe that live music is a draw for the later evening crowd. Still, for $ 80 for 2 people, I was a bit disappointed by the food.

So my wife says, «you have a happy hour?» and the hostess says, «it ends in 4 minutes»…but this is Rochester so she adds, «let me get a waiter right over so you can order»…so Adam lets us order two(2) twofers, because we can’t decide between the Mark West pinot noir and the Sanoma cabernet. Both were delicious, and both were on our bill as half-price We’re seated in the bar area on a Thursday night, and they have jazz; in fact, a tremendous keyboardist, singer and percussionist, who are seriously good. Steak salad, perfect; zeppole for desert, fantastic. Chicken french, very good. Attentive staff, water glass and bread basket never empty, It is hidden in a strip mall that you could easily miss, but you’ll be glad you didn’t

That was a HUGE surprise — probably the most delicious halibut I have ever had — and not cheap, either. My friend had double pork chop — it was on the menu, halibut was a Special. Out of this world. AND roasted romaine lettuce — yummy!
