If a store doesn’t age well, what do you think happens to it? Does it slowly fade out of the world or does it linger about, trying to find it’s place in the changing world? This is the story of Kmart Ridge Rd, a supermarket that failed to realize that it isn’t 1991 anymore… it’s 2014. So where do I begin what’s even wrong with this location? For starters, walking into the store was like going through a time capusle that was never opened. The floor, despite being all caked with dirt and debri was absolutetly retro that it hurt my eyes to look at it. I most likely should’ve headed right back to the car but I kept on exploring… my curiousity hadn’t reached it’s peak yet. Heading into the back of the store… let’s just say I wish I went the opposite direction. I have never seen such disorder and disaster in a store that it was about to top Wal-Mart’s standards. The defenseless merchandise was just crammed and compacted into any space that was open and shoved to just make it fit, not even trying to look acceptable to the customers. The shelves themselves need to be gutted out. By moving all of the stacked items, the back of the shelves were covered with aged brown and green substances that smelled worse then they looked. At this point, I had enough of looking and nearly ran out of Kmart while noticing the miserable faces of the cashiers not even smiling at all to the small amount of customers. I never knew of such horror like this was even around anymore. I am down on my knees praying that no one bought anything from here… it’s a disease that can’t be controlled.
