Hands down my favorite place to eat. The plates are best in Rochester, the burgers are big and the hot sauce is on another level. The wraps are great and the burgers are better than anything you’ll get at a chain such as bill grays or tom whals. The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable, you don’t need a coupon to not spend $ 40 on burgers. If you are in the mood for a burger, hot dog, plate or wrap I highly suggest you give Jim’s Ground a try.

Got a jim’s round all the way with onion rings and a small milkshake. Came to just over $ 11 very fair prices as it filled me up perfect… Milk shake was thick and creamy with some chunks of strawberry… The burger and the onion rings were cooked to my liking. If ever in Rochester again I will be stopping back :-)

The food here is amazing! It’s not a chain but a family owned business and that makes it so much better. The steak sandwich is a real piece of steak, not the thin chopped up meat.

Jim’s equipment is so impressive, that it drags along the ground when he walks. And his supporting«spherical» supplementary equipment either side of his main equipment, are so perfectly globe-shaped, that in the dictionary, if you look up the word«round», there is no text. Just a picture of Jim’s goulies. Hence the name of the restaurant: Jim’s Ground Round. What to get: Ground Round with extra meat sauce. What else: Jim’s very grounded, and if you eat too much of his food, you’ll become rounded. Jim’s was the last food stop on a 25-stop food tour(not even kidding), which meant I really wasn’t feeling like eating by the time I got here. I drove past it(accidentally) out in the leafy suburbs of Gates-Spencerport, and had to do a U-turn, which freaked out some suburban boys walking along the sidewalk-less highway-cum-road. Ahem. So it was all set up for me to not like it and not even finish it, but Jim’s surprised me, in fact, it blew me away. The service was nice(cute girls!), and I got flirted with big-time by a couple of customers who must have been in their 40s, but were dolled up like they were going to a Duran Duran concert(it’s an in joke, but read«Motley Crue» if you prefer). I got a ground round with everything and extra meat sauce. It took a good 10 minutes for it to arrive, but once it did, I was in hamburger heaven. A ground round is basically just a burger, and the meat sauce is what makes Rochester cuisine famous(lol). It’s the same stuff they pour all over garbage plates(Los Platos De Garbaggio) and yes they make those here, too. As I bit into it(after taking pix)(after deflecting the stares of some local guy with his family who thought I was worth ogling), I realized I was in heaven. I can’t yet tell if this burger is better than the one at Schaller’s(it’s a close contest, I think Schaller’s might edge it because of the flavour of the meat sauce but I’m not sure), but it’s definitely the only burger in Rochester(so far) that comes close. And probably the only fast-food burger in WNY that compares. It’s also one of the juiciest burgers I’ve ever had… not just the extra meat sauce I asked for, but the amazing dripping gushing patty as well. Absolutely fantastic. And the hard roll it comes on(the same kind that all the best places in Rochester use) is wonderful. The meat sauce is good… the burger is huge, it’s cheap, it’s filling. I could not recommend it any more highly. There’s a reason they call this the«best ground round in Rochester» — it really is. It’s between Jim’s and Schaller’s and nobody else compares. I couldn’t have been any more impressed than I was with Jim’s, and along with the breakfast sandwich at Union St Bakery, it was the standout off-the-charts highlight of my little food tour. It’s so good, in fact, that after you put this delicious juicy meat in your mouth, you’ll probably let Jim have his way with you on the ground, rolling around, even a little«round» the world action. Which is yet another reason why they call this place, affectionately, «Jim’s Ground Round.»

I knew the as Jim $ Ralph. Now, the children are following on the footsteps. I’ve gone several times and everything have been good. Ribeye & steak sandwiches, shrimp plate on Fridays. The shrimp plate comes with two sides. I chose soup & salad. Delicious! The shrimps are a nice size, butterflied and deep fried. The meal comes with a dinner roll. I had on other occasions steak sandwich & fries. Ribeye sandwich, you get a thin cut steak. I ordered cooked onions and macaroni salad as a side dish. Bith good. The next time I’ll try the fried booigna sandwich. Everyone is very friendly.

Ok so I only went for the wings, and I realize it’s a burger joint. So I gave it 3 stars to be fair, but the wings were less than average. The sauce had a sweet of sweetness to his and a light heat. There were was not much crisp and they were a little under cooked. Let them cook 3 more mintues, and they would be much better. I will go back to to try a burger, but wings are always my focus.

Went here when I heard they opened after the Jim and Ralph’s closed on Elmgrove rd. there’s about 10 – 12 tables that seat 4. Went around 145 Saturday 5⁄24. Staff was very friendly and kept the tables wiped after each customer. They even brought our food out to us. Food is just as good as it was at Jim and Ralph’s. I got a bacon cheeseburger, white hot, onion rings and French fries. Solid.

I was happy to see that Jim’s was back around. I was a big fan of the old Jim & Ralph’s on Buffalo Road but never liked the Elmgrove location. Now they’re in the old Hook’s Market location if you can remember back that far.(More recently the American Deli then the Acoustic Café.) So we ordered a couple of cheeseburgers with fries and onion rings to go. I requested provolone, lettuce and tomato on the burgers with hot sauce. When I got home, thinking the total sounded high I checked my receipt and was very surprised to see they charged me an extra $ 1.50 for the provolone and 25¢ for a slice of tomato! That’s 75¢ for a slice of cheese on their $ 4.35 cheeseburger over the price of a regular hamburg. Sounds like double charging. On what planet does it cost more for provolone than any other cheese? Regardless, a slice of cheese weighs less than 1 oz which means they are charging over $ 12 a pound on top of the up charge for American? cheese. With all of the competition in the area like Burger Stop, Wimpy’s. Quaker State. Rookies. Jeremiah’s, Sullivan’s,(which none of them charge extra for different cheeses like swiss, provolone, pepper jack), you would think that they would keep their costs competitive. The food was only fair at best. The onion rings were greasy and crumbling and the rolls on the burgers were smashed when hastily wrapped and bagged. We are disappointed and would hope that they try to do better. I might try them 1 more time if we are in a hurry as they are close by but wouldn’t go out of my way.

A reincarnation if Jim and Ralph’s from buffalo road … It’s OKAY at best. The grilled chicken was too spongy and slightly underdone. The burger was ok. Didn’t knock my socks off. Prices are a bit high considering the sandwiches do not come with any sides. It is suffice in a pinch. But with the exuberant amount of burger joints in ROC this does not stand out.

Great Burgers and cheese burgers. Fries were good too. Seating was challenging. Not enough on a weekend night, when I was there. We are old time Jim and Ralph customers and are so happy the family tradition continues. Keep it simple like the originals when on Buffalo Rd. Menu on webpage with pricing would help.
