Am I really seriously truly writing a five star review for a gas station? YES, Unilocal,YES I AM. I will not be shamed for my love. I will wear it as a badge of honor.
Listen, I don’t know what it is about this place, but whatever it is should be bottled and sold by the gallon right alongside the gas. This is the friendliest staffed, most organized and efficiently run gas station/​convenience store in the continental US. As a road-​weary veteran of many long road trips (my people do not fly), I feel qualified to make this proclamation. Even the other customers are nice! It’s some sort of portal to another land, another time, a time where the guy ringing up your coffee smiles and cracks jokes and calls you Miss when you clearly exited the“Miss” age bracket before he was born, and said coffee is always hot and reasonably fresh. A land where everyone holds the door and parks within the lines and waves you on to the pump if you arrive simultaneously.
I thought perhaps my first few visits were a fluke, but after several months of almost daily stops, I know it to be truth. This place is a freak show. I mean that in the nicest way.
