I got the veal piccata. My boyfriend got the big strip steak. The veal was excellent. The sauce was very lemony and buttery, just really good. My boyfriends steak was one of the best I’ve ever had, even comparing it to all of the fancy steakhouses I’ve been to. I would have given 5 stars — but the house salad was just«meh» and my BFs mashed potatoes tasted like college cafeteria mashed. But the entrees were so good this place is getting 4 stars from me.

One of the worst dark and dingy restaurants I’ve ever been to. Chicken was dry and waaaay too many seniors in there. Not a joke! Food was horrible and service mediocre at best. Will never return! There are so many other restaurants in the area.

After dining at this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary for over 20 years, I am sad to say that our recent visit to celebrate our 30th was so bad that we will not be returning. My husband ordered prime rib with fries and I ordered Filet Mignon with twice baked potatoe. My food was fine other than being able to tell that the potatoe had been scooped out hours earlier(skin was inedible). My husband’s entire dinner was stone cold. As we were told that no other prime rib was available, the only option if we actually wanted to eat a meal together was to have his prime rib dropped back into the au jus to warm it up — resulting in over cooked meat. Rather than serving fresh fries, the originals were dropped back into the oil — resulting in fries so hard he could not pierce them with a fork. Our ‘consulation’ prize was an extremely dry piece of carrot cake which I’m sure they found in the back of fridge — because the fridge is exactly what it tasted like. I ate two bites and gave up. They did take a discount of half off the prime rib but unfortunately that does not make up for a ruined experience. In a world where every consumer is an amateur food critic thanks to Chopped and the Food Network, and the fact that there is way to much competition out there, these kinds of rookie mistakes and serving sub-standard food just doesn’t ‘cut the mustard’.

Normally I just eat donuts. But this time I decided to have steak. It was truly delicious. The onion rings were exquisite. I got a doggy bag for the Green beans. The Spanish rice tasted a bit Norwegian, but was delicious nonetheless. The beer was cold, but was served in a rubber glass which kept flopping around. The waitress was nice, and was a talented juggler and singer. This was just her day job.

We love this place every time we walk in it’s like walking into the 70s but it’s a good thing the owner always is there which is great to see the waitstaff have been there for years which is a great thing… Food is yummy the shrimp scampi and filet yum… Service is great and it’s family owned I love this place

Ambience has a 70’s feel. Could really use some updating. The bread basket was a dollar store wicker basket with packaged breadsticks and some freezer to oven rolls. Seemed to be an older crowd of patrons and a very Rams Horn type quality of food. If you like Rams horn, you’ll love this place. For us foodies, this was not a winner!

Great place for a variety of foods in Rochester. Form burgers to filets I love them all! My personal favorite is the twin pork chops! Ps: Fred the owner is a great host!

Very disappointed in my last visit. I had a reservation for 8. When we arrived the reservation had been given to someone else. We walked to our table in the back only to be told it was given to another group. Therefore had to walk back to the front which is not a big deal unless you are 72, 88 and 91 yrs old. The«manager» just kept telling us it would be 5 – 10 minutes — which was the part I disliked the most because I know it would be longer(which it was– closer to 30 minutes). I understand situations happen but don’t lie to me after they do. Give me a real time the table will be ready especially if 5 of the party are over 60 yrs old. We deserved at least that much. The wait staff did their usual good job. We’ve been going there for many years but again very disappointed in the last visit.

Closer to 2.5 stars. Would have been three stars if the Fettuccini Fruttee de Mare didn’t have mussels that had gone bad. I haven’t had a seafood pasta anywhere since. The service is consistent and the other food has been good. Maybe it was an outlier of an experience?

The first time I visited the Golden Eagle I thought, Wow it’s in a strip mall and it’s one of the best known places in town for great food. They did not disappoint one bit. The filet with homemade zip sauce was one of the best I’ve ever had. Their tiramisu martini was undoubtedly divine. I’ve been going back often for the last several years and it’s one of my favorite spots in Rochester!

Hate to admit this… But we have been going to Golden Eagle for over 26 years. But I am happy to admit. We love it. Love the table side Cesar Salad. The zip sauce is really good. Bummed they charge extra. They have to have the smallest kitchen in Oakland Co. But they can put the food out. We love the ranch dressing there too… I must say the owners/hosts are not friendly at all. Thank God the food makes up for it.

If you want consistently good food and an extensive menu this is your hometown place. Yep, it’s in a strip mall but that shouldn’t deter anyone. The shrimp scampi is great, steak sandwich with Mario sauce is tasty and memorable, the spaghetti Bolognese is northern Italian so mild and comforting, drinks are good and well priced. Specials are great too! They even aren’t afraid to serve liver and onions. Locals sometimes call it «the club» or «the Eagle». For good steaks their filet or beef tips with mushrooms are good also and they will make Caesar salads and bananas Foster tableside. Blast from the past maybe… but almost always great. I would have fish and chips during the week… too many orders can lower the temperature of the fryers so outside is beautiful inside maybe soggy. Their mini and full sized Hummers are WONDERFUL.

Where is my review? I posted a negative review last week and it disappeared. So here goes. Food and service is awful. Pieces of plastic in my chowder. Grease drenched fish and chips. Squirted grease on my shirt when I cut into my battered fried soggy fish. I ate here years ago before I moved and it was always good. What happened? I realize the place was busy and service was very slow. Our server is obviously some housewife who should go back to what she knows best. Never again!

A very nice surprise. Didn’t look like much from outside, but inside looks like a ‘70s dinner club. Bar even has short stools with padded bar. The décor is not old, looks like it was remodeled that way. Service was prompt and friendly throughout the entire meal. Everything came at a reasonable pace. The seafood appetizer trio was really tasty. The calamari and shrimp were the best we’ve had around here. This is a place I would definitely bring my elder parents for a «fancy» place to celebrate an occasion.

This was a hard review to give — because it is one of those places where you would like to give 4 stars, but I just don’t know. So I’m going to give them another shot sometime soon — and update this. My experience: — muscles appetizer was good! — salads were good — pan fried lake Perch was just ok. Not the best Perch I’ve had. And I kept finding something that looked like a «fish scale» in my mouth — like if part of it hadn’t been cleaned very good. — chicken picante was pretty good — we also tried a couple deserts and they were all pretty good One issue is that we thought the $$ was a little much for the overall experience I think most people in there focus more on «drinks» versus«food». Unfortunately for me, nothing makes up for the food — that’s why I’m there.

What an awful«dining» experience, if you can call it that. There were 8 of us, 7 adults and one child, age 10. We arrived at 6:30pm Monday night, which is «Mexican Night» at the Golden Eagle. We were seated promptly and a hostess came by the table to tell us that we could get complementary chips and salsa, so we said we’d like them. We received one very small basket of stale chips that had about 20 chips in the basket. Just one basket for the whole table of 8 to share. You can do the math… but we each got about 2.5 chips. We were told there were no refills. A server took our drink order and then it took him THIRTY minutes to come back and take our food order. He referred to the men at the table as «señor.» We waited 40 minutes for our food to arrive, so during that time I had a chance to look around the restaurant. It was like going back in time to 1970. The décor is a combo of Old Bowling Alley and greasy spoon diner. Very odd. Nothing seems to go together. It’s very dark and they have a big fish tank at the entrance. The bar is like an old 70’s bar– vinyl bar top and old stools. 90% of the clientele is age 70 or older. In the background was music from the 1980’s– Michael Jackson and the like. Cooks ring a bell when an order is ready. It was annoying to hear that every few minutes. When our food finally did arrive it was just awful. Everything was cold and tasted like it had been frozen or purchased from someplace like Gordon’s Food. 2 dishes were sent back because they were so bad and we didn’t order anything else. The server took them off the bill, which was nice, but hey, they were not edible! The restaurant was also very dirty and it smelled funny. There was a drink/dessert menu on the table that was so dirty and caked with scum that we put it on the shelf behind our booth. I wouldn’t go back to this restaurant even if the food was free.
