Just like many of these around the Rochester area, GameStop of course, sells video games even though you could really get them anywhere else. GameStop currently specializes in the newer generation of consoles such as the Nintendo Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and even handhelds like the New 3DSXL as of this review. In every GameStop you go to, the prices will be the same regardless of which location you visit so it really comes down to location. If you are in the North Greece area, this is the one you are most likely to visit and to be honest, It’s nothing that special. This location can be found in Northgate Plaza in a strip area near a Bank of America and even though it has a small exterior, it is quite spacious on the inside. In this store, their Xbox games are near the front of the store while the PlayStation products are respectively in the back of the store each color coded for easy viewing. If you are looking for Nintendo products, they are in the middle to the back of the store in which you can browse the DS/3DS games along with the Wii and Wii U titles just next to it. They have a good selection of PlayStation titles at this location and even their 3DS and Wii U collections are great but their Xbox games are pretty much on par with other locations in the area. If you are trying to get Wii titles it is best to do it now before they go but be warned, some don’t come in their original cases and you still have to pay what they want even though it’s not what it goes for. If you WANT to even save money, by getting a rewards card you can basically save 10% on used games but 10%? To be honest, it really should be at least 15% or 20% as 10% will only get you a few dollars or cents off the game depending if it’s highly priced or low priced. You won’t find a lot of brand new games but if you want pre-owned on a new game, you aren’t saving as it’s just five dollars less than a brand new title so go for the new title if you can, GameStop should really take more off for pre-owned than they already do because theirs no incentive to buy it as online can be cheaper if you look long enough. The employees here have ranged drastically from my visits which is the main reason this one is getting three stars rather than four because of past Friday’s incident. I took back two Wii titles that I just bought Thursday as I couldn’t get them to work and brought in my four year old copy of Wii Sports Resort to trade in to get a rare Wii title that only this location had. For one, I only got 6.20 for the game even though they sell it for 20 but the game I wanted was nine dollars and with the return money from the two games, it really just made the game free. The main issue was the two employees were most interested in starting up their own conversation and after I got the game, he didn’t even look at me and just extended the bag towards me with his head turned toward the other guy without another word to say to me even as I was out the door. Is this how you handle customers? That’s not what I was taught but it seems to be the norm at this location. On the other hand, there are some positives here. It’s very open and not congested even on it’s busy days, it’s very clean, the selection is great, and the location is good. However, with the employee interaction I’ve had and some of their odd business practices, I would definitely consult over electronic realtors before making the venture here.

After running around town and hitting every game website I could think of, my last stop proved to be the best. GameStop is in the corner of Northgate Plaza where they built the new Dewey Avenue Walmart, I looked in Walmart that’s how desperate I was. I was looking for a Wii Console, oddly the only thing on my son’s wish list. He’s been asking for the game console for months so that he could play the same games his classmates had talked so much about. He has other consoles so imagine my dismay when he said he wanted another brand. Yeah, I pretty much told him no. But after the begging and pleading and deal making, he even did better with homework and tests… darn him! LOL So I had no other choice but to go out and find the game for him. Well I waited way too long, they were sold out everywhere, even online. So as a last resort I headed to GameStop. Christine was great, she helped me find the game console, I got a preowned one at one-third the price! I’m going back for more games!
