Having a game store need my home has its perks. The major factor being that it’s close to home and easy to get to when a new game comes out. However, when it comes to GameStop, this location is a bit on the strange side. It seems whenever a new console comes out, they immediately try to get rid of all the past generation games and systems which right now, happens to be the still popular PlayStation 2, which because it ended production recently last year, GameStop decided to stop accepting trade-ins for the PlayStation 2 for the first time and started to sell off all of their games for about $ 9 or under, complete or not. I personally despise those used GameStop cases that they put games in as the artwork and manual are a pleasure to view and look great when showcasing a collection. I don’t think GameStop knows that since most of thier used games come in those plain as hell cases but at least you get the disc. So with PS2 bidding farewell(at least in the eyes of GameStop) the store now consists of PlayStation 3, Xbox 360(Getting smaller), Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii, Wii U, and handheld games(D.S., Vita, PSP). This same goodbye happened with GameCube in April 2011 which had be cringing on the inside since I was relying on GameStop to provide cheap quality games for me to purchase and play. Anyways, this store is pretty average sized and like I described above, consists of that layout with the Xbox games to the right as soon as you walk in, the PlayStation games to the back, and the Nintendo games to the left, with some large clearance bins in the middle(these don’t count since they are like.$ 20!). Typical location that I go to for a new game or too, but for older games with better prices, maybe another game store or thrift shop might be an idea. On the other hand, GameStop does carry some good prices when it comes to certain used games(some go as low as $ 0.50). This reason still makes it a place worthwhile to visit when I’m in the gaming mood.
