I had a coupon and found my way there from the Public Market last Sunday in search of Spogliatelle. They were out but promised them for Monday. I drove up from Honeoye Falls and it was well worth the trip. They were some of the best Spogliatelle I’ve had, including from Brooklyn ! I will most certainly be back for more!

Quirky name for an excellent old world style Italian bakery. Armed with a rochester perks coupon for $ 20 I came here just after strenuous workout at the gym(bad idea) This place is pretty easy to locate, its on lyell right across from Wegmans, yeah a short drive from the city, but you need to get away from Park Ave if you want to get some authentic rainbow cookies. Growing up in queens, I lived down the street from a bakery like Etna; you just cant find the assortment of italian cookies, pastries and goodies at Panera that you can at these charming little bake shops. The girls that worked there were very helpful and had suggestions. I went with an assortment of cookies(they have a wide variety, filled with jams, jellies, covered with sprinkles). Didn’t see my favorite pretzel shaped butter cookies filled with chocolate spread much to my chagrin I also had to get some of the aformentioned rainbow cookies. They were a little unusual in that they were separately wrapped, and seemed more like cakes than cookies. To reach my $ 20 goal I rounded out the purchase(not to mention my fat gut) with a small carrot cake. This was probably my least favorite selection, as it wound up being two layered and the inner layer of frosting was twice as thick as the cake itself. We all love cream cheese frosting, but in moderate quantities. This was more like a thick block of icing with slivers of carrot cake inside. That said I would totally come back here, and it looks like they specialize in wedding cakes, for those of you that are matrimonially inclined. Check this place out people, its good stuff and reasonably priced
