Changed their menu. Smaller portions, more cost. That is a recipe for your loyal customers finding another place to eat. 4 onion rings on my best of both is pathetic. They decreased the portion size and increased price!

Mediocre. Five guys has a bit more flavor for their burgers and their a bit less pricey than what the burgers are here! Their onion rings are pretty good but a little on the skinny side. Awesome service but waited a bit.

Very disappointed, the food was cold and overcooked. The restaurant definitely has a good location and nice view in City Gate, but that’s it. As a matter of fact, I’m sitting at the restaurant writing this review now because our waitress has«disappeared» and we can’t get our check to just leave. For the price of it, I’d rather to back to my usual Five Guys.

Disappointed with the burger. You cant get it medium rare and the medium was dry and tasteless. Service was good. chocolate shake was very good. Onion rings got soggy. $ 18 seems a lot for all this. Bunga burger burgers are MUCH better.

This place is AMAZING. I totally disagree with all of the negative reviews here but to each his own. Best burger I’ve ever had. Hands down. Kills Five Guys and Bunga Burger. Get the onion ring/fry basket for 2– you actually can feed 4 with it. Toppings are all fresh, burger was lean and cooked perfectly. Takes a little time because everything is made to order– you want super fast, drive through Burger King or the other guy. Deep fried Oreo dessert. Decadent, delish x 1000! Get one to share so you don’t feel as bad eating it. But, definitely DO try it! The place is extremely clean, staff very friendly. I will be a repeat customer for sure!

My favorite burger place I’ve been to. Delicious burger with a fun 50s décor. Large variety of options to choose from as well as gluten free options. Highly recommended to anyone in the city gate area. I ordered the spicy meat sauce on the side and it made the burger even more delicious.

Cheeseburger cheeseburger is mediocre at the very best as far as I am concerned. I walk in the door and the 50’s music is blaring throughout the restaurant. Background music is fine but it does not have to be that loud. They have great décor and the place is clean as a whistle. Lots of hustling going on behind the counter and the staff is on their job. I sit down at the counter and get a menu and as I am starting to look at it, I now have the manager in my personal space and explain the menu to me just as fast as he can. I don’t want to be rude but I can read and I pretty much know what I want. Give people a chance to get in the door and let them look things over before you start trying to sell the place to them. There are 40 different topping for your burger and 40 different kinds of milkshakes? I find that to be way to much information and a big case of overkill. The manager is in site and monitoring all the activity going on in the dining room. That is all fine and dandy but standing in the corner with your arms folded and a stern look on your face is intimidating, unprofessional, and very unimpressive. I order two 14oz burgers with two fries, one onion ring, one milk shake, and one lemonade. The girl asks me how I want my burger cooked? I say I’d would like one medium and I would like one rare. She tells me that we only cook them medium on up to well done. So, why bother even asking that question? The order comes to almost $ 42.00! While I am waiting, I get in a conversation with the hostess greeting people at the door. A very nice young lady who informs me that this is the very best burger that I am ever going eat. I said to her, well just what is it that makes the beef here better than any place else? She says it’s all the love that we put into the cooking here as well as the excellent quality of our products. OK, I am down with that, but the proof is in the pudding sister. The burgers are huge, I mean huge! When they say 14 oz they mean it. Served on a large Kaiser roll and it looks great. The burger itself is bland and has not been seasoned in anyway. The fries are an exact duplicate of what you would get at Five Guys and they have no seasoning. The onion rings are huge and seasoned to perfection. The rings being the best of the whole experience. I am sure that the young children all the way up to college students enjoy the experience of going to Cheeseburger Cheeseburger and that is all fine and dandy. But for me as a middle aged adult, not so much.

I’m just way too happy THAT Cheeburger Cheeburger has made the trek to City Gate! Woo hoo! Charlotte was just too much of a haul to visit, especially with the LDR Charpit in close proximity. Now it is one of the premier destinations for GREAT burgers, fries and… MEATSAUCE. Yes, BONUSMEAT! Service here is snappy and attentive. The fact that they survived longer than the Fast Ferry did means they’re doing something right. Now that they’re in City Gate, they should be all set! Great place to visit when you’re in the area, not too far off the beaten path and within reach of UofR, RIT, Strong Hospital, Crozier, Highland Park… you get the picture. just remember you heard about the BONUSMEAT here, bucko!

I went to Cheeburger Cheeburger thinking it was a fast casual place, similar to a Five Guys. I was a little surprised to find out it was more like a diner, with primarily table service. So, I’m not sure if my experience was worse because I got takeout(I was alone and didn’t have time to sit for lunch), but it was not a great one. I got the Semi-Serious burger(1⁄3 pound), which was very large; I definitely would have been filled by a smaller burger. I got the typical toppings(lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mayonnaise) along with bleu cheese. They asked about temperature to be cooked, but only offered medium and above. I don’t really understand that. If you’re going to offer to cook to order, you should offer at least medium rare(the right temperature to have!), and if you’re going to limit the options, just cook everything the same. I understand that there are health regulation issues, but this just seemed weird to me. The burger itself was not good. The meat was chewy, very unappetizing. The bleu cheese on top, which was billed as bleu cheese crumbles, either had a creamy bleu cheese sauce or an overwhelming amount of mayonnaise mixed in. My side of fries was actually pretty good, though could have used a little salt. They also would have been good with vinegar, which I think was available on the tables. I didn’t have a chance to try a milkshake, though with all the variety, I’d be willing to head back for that. Hopefully they’re done better than the burgers… Overall, I was unimpressed with Cheeburger Cheeburger. I think there are other better places in town for a quick burger and doubt I’ll be back, unless it’s to try a shake. Too bad given its prime location at City Gate. Hope it lasts from a business perspective, but not sure that it will.

The burgers were as good as always and I’m happy they have Gluten Free buns! I was, however really disappointed to find out that the fries aren’t GF! The atmosphere isn’t very warm, the seats are very uncomfortable and it feels more like you’re at BK than at a nice burger place. I’m really going to miss the Cheeburger on the lake, that was my go to place all summer!

Just ate there. Had a semi serious burger on Kaiser with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and meat sauce. the first one came out less than medium well. it was promptly taken back and replaced(as they should) with a well done burger, which was fine by me. flavor was indicative of decent beef. a little messy. but paper towel rolls agree on the table. wasn’t too busy, kinda has a 50’s style, but not like Dibellas or anything serious. the hostess was helpful with the menu, and the waitress did great considering the returned burger. point off for having to return a burger, when it is one of the few items they grill.

New spot at CityGate! First off, if you aren’t local to Rochester and want a great burger, stop here and head to Bill Gray’s or Tom Wahl’s! You can thank me later. I had not been to a Cheeburger Cheeburger before. I was surprised that it was table service. But, I made the sacrifice to eat here for you Unilocalers! I opted for the platter with a side salad and a Pepsi. If I wasn’t alone, I would have been tempted to share a shake! Now, most places, the side salad is pitiful. This salad was not. It’s pretty big with a few different kinds of lettuce and toppings. The fries seem to be hand cut with the skin on them, which I love. The 10 ounce burger was perfectly medium and huge. If you get the fried onions, they pile them on. So, if that’s not for you, ask for light onions. The toppings menu is plentiful as well! I’ll definitely be back in the future!

The fries were limp to which my server replied OK. Nothing was done. I did not eat them, but I paid for them. The burger was just ordinary. I don’t think McDonalds has to worry. The décor is definitely«fifties» making it a must for senior citizens between the ages of 79 to 85, which is when THEY were in their teen years. Then again fried foods may not be in their best interests.

YESYESYES. They have moved over to Citygate on E Henrietta rd. We went for dinner and got seated right away. Or server was Melissa and she was great. We got our piping hot fries and onion rings right away and got some yummy dipping sauces for then, Vegy, horseradish and cheese. All of them were great but the horseradish was my favorite. I got a chicken sandwich which was awesome and my hubby got a burger. Both arrived hot off the grill and were tasty as hell. Plenty of parking and they have a patio in good weather. I cannot wait to return.

If you like alot of topping options for your burger then this is the place for you. Decent burgers(though they won’t cook them medium rare — one star reduction for that policy) in many different sizes with a wide range of free toppings and a bunch more for a charge. The shakes/malts come in a mind-numbing number of choices. If you are bad at making decisions I would avoid this place. Our server was super helpful and friendly. We did snag one of their 5 – 6 outside tables on the river which made for a much more pleasant dining experience.

This is a great place to come for a burger or a sandwhich. I haven’t ordered a salad from here. They have a ton of toppings to put on your burger. And the milkshakes are awesome! This place is fun for kids too.

Cheeburger Cheeburger. The place is very nice inside, I love the aesthetic. Been here quite a few times over the years. The food — is overpriced in relation the quantity and quality. Windjammers is just across the street with far larger and more delicious burgers at a better price. Don’t get me wrong, the food is decent tasting. They just need to get their prices in check. The milkshakes are outstanding. Lastly, the staff is hit or miss. They tend to rush you along. I will never be back, as I recently popped in 10 minutes before they were closing for just a couple shakes to go. The woman was clearly being lazy, and it was uncalled for. If you don’t want to work until your posted hours are over, then quit.
