This location is very similar to the Alexander St location only it has more open space and more of the U of R crowd. Like the other locations, they offer an array of coffee roasts(I had the Boulder Blend then came back for the Peruvian) and fresh baked goods. The staff is laid back and usually friendly. I kicked back there for a couple hours with a friend for brunch(coffee and a toasted blueberry bagel with peanut butter ftw). The atmosphere is hard to replace: the noise of the staff working the espresso machine, grinding coffee and steaming lattes; watching cars fly by outside and the snow flurries dance in the air; and being able to wander around inside and look around at the ever-increasing artwork found in the building by local artists. I moved down to Charlotte, NC recently and you just don’t get that atmosphere here. So, go grab a muffin and a cup of joe and enjoy one of the better Rochester coffee houses.

This Boulder Coffee location gets 4+ stars from me. When I lived on Plymouth Ave., this was a convenient spot to get away from campus. I love the eclectic environment inside and the variety of seating options, as well as the awesome coffee and drinks. A major downfall of this location is that the booths parallel to the counter are terrible for working because the height of the tables is too high, especially since the seats sink down. They’re also really dark, which makes working pretty unpleasant. Try Boulder’s unsweetened iced tea and flavored hot coffee. I also love the glass top tables closest to the entrance.

Coffee, tea and other drinks. Great selection of sandwiches. Free WiFi access. Lots of seating, usually more noisy downstairs than upstairs. Entertainment many nights of the week, but not usually before 8pm. My experiences at Boulder have all been great. I feel right at home, there is always a diverse mix of UR/RIT students and neighborhood residents. Convenient to Staybridge Suites across the street, and the UR offices across the street. About a 5 min walk from the UR campus.

I was definitely excited when this shop came to the ward. As a long time resident of the area I was hoping for a place to «regular». Unfortunately, it has always been the best of the experiences. Good: the foods is pretty decent, the coffee is great Bad: if you’re going there to have a conversation, forget about it. Almost every time I’ve been in there I’ve had to speak and abnormally loud voice. If you’re hoping to grab a quick lunch, you might think otherwise, it’ll take them a bit to service your request as they are usually in my experience pretty short staffed.

As a student who likes to study in coffee shops, this Boulder location rates okay. The space is open with nice natural light during the day. Some comfy couches. Food is good. Free Wi-Fi. Staff is genial. Not too crowded. The lighting is keeping me from giving this spot a stellar rating. Once the sun starts to go down, it’s hard to find a spot that has decent lighting over the table so that I can see my notes/books. Eye-strain sucks.
