I don’t know how to say in a manly way that the place had an HGTV makeover. It is the best looking bar in Rochester. Stone, granite and ridiculous nice bathrooms. The patio is one of kind. Go there check it out and you will understand. I only had the calamari and it was dope. It had deep fried jalapeños which I’ve never had. That elevated the awesomeness but the calamari itself was still amazing. It had some sort of bleu cheese drizzle on it that took it to another level. That’s all I have… Till next time. Drinks were slightly overpriced but for the amount of money they put into that bar they need to charge that. It’s in a weird location but go check it out you won’t be disappointed.

Was there last night, I have been there at least 10 times in the past and it has always been okay. That is until last night. The Bartender was unbelievably rude. We entered the bar and they had a large garage door open between the patio and the bar. After 10 minutes or so of watching my friends 2 wives and of course me shivering. I asked if they could please close the door. He replied«okay in few minutes». He then closed it half way which really didn’t help the matter at all. He was also very put off by my request, as if it was a major inconvenience. Next a friend brought a cake for a celebration, he said unless it was store bought and she had the receipt we could not eat the cake, due to county health lawsuit. I little rigid but we understood. He said that we couldn’t even eat in the parking lot, however we could eat it in the street. Finally, a women not in our party approached the bar and ordered 3 shots of something that had 3 ingredients in which she told him what they were. He replied I don’t make shots! Are you kidding me? He was such an arrogant person. Employees are such an important part of a small business, and this guy is ruining all the great things the owners have done to make there business successful. Not sure that I want to go back to this establishment with so many near by to choose from.

Best Burgers around. Fish Tacos are excellent but the best thing they serve is the Cole Slaw. Jerry knocks it out of the park. The Poutine is also very good, the Fish Fry dinners are huge. Great atmosphere, happy hour specials and apps. I will go back.

Never going back. It’s just not worth it for me. For the cost, I expect much better atmosphere, more well-executed food, and FAR better service. The design is so chic and modern with a lot of potential, but they blare fluorescent lights and wrap everything in green string lights(blue might have made sense, but still). The heat was the biggest problem. Certain areas of the restaurant are blasted with hot air while others are left to shiver. The first time I went we moved tables twice, once because we were cold and once because we were so hot. Our worst experience by far at Blu was when I had forgotten my wallet and therefore my ID. They refused to sell me a drink(their prerogative), but when I took a sip of my husband’s martini the waitress sent the manager over and literally KICKEDMEOUT, even though in New York State I am not required to provide ID to purchase alcohol if my spouse already has. I was with a group and didn’t want to ruin their time, so I left, went home to get my ID, and returned. Apparently the waitress was apologetic, but the manager was very rude and snarky to my table while I was gone. The food is good enough. The Italian nachos are very creative and tasty. But as I said, nothing is worth the price. I had a very unfresh/fishy crab cake, for example. We gave it three tries. Three strikes. They’re out.

Only been here once but I wouldn’t mind going back. I had one of their burgers and it was pretty good though a bit too overcooked for me. Their prices are a bit higher than other restaurants in the area but they were still a bit cheaper than I expected them to be. It does tend to get a bit loud as it gets busier, but then this also isn’t the type of place that I would go if I wanted peace and quiet anyway so in this case the noise level didn’t really bother me since it was sort of expected.

Went on a Friday. What was good was the guitarist. Great songs, Good voice. What was NOT so good was the fish fry. The beer battered fish was mushy, rather than crisp and firm. The fries were from a bag and they didn’t have vinegar. The Cole slaw was homemade and unusual but interesting. My beer was cool rather than cold, and got warm very quickly. The medium-well burger was very pink and pretty average. It was our first time, and we probably won’t go back.

Very expensive for what you get and not that great! The drinks were ok but not a place I’d go with friends for unusual cocktails!

Delicious food, great atmosphere, and amazing staff! Went on a Thursday night with wife and toddler. No wait and received prompt and attentive service. Waitress was among the best I’ve ever seen in interacting with my 3 year old. All three meals were incredible! Menu does not do justice in describing the robust flavors in each entrée. Live acoustic music was pleasant surprise. Will definitely be returning soon!

Nice atmosphere to go with some friends, coworkers, or even a date with your significant other! Décor is for the people who are in their 20s-30s. We sat at the tables inside which was nice because they had windows that were open producing a nice breeze, but jot so much that everything on your table blew all over. We started with fried puckles and banana rings which were tasteful and more than enough for 4 or more people. I ordered the cheeseburger with bacon, onion straws, fancy sauce(ketchup and mayo). The presentation was amazing, the fries came out in a mini frying basket and were so crispy, they were perfect! The burger although was amazing was slightly on the dryer side.

Here we are, a few years after our first Blu experience(which wasn’t good), and I’m now a Blu convert. It seems like the establishment has found its niche… not too fancy, not a typical area dive bar… just right. The service was attentive and professional, our food was served promptly and exactly as ordered… and it was really good. In fact, my husband’s burger was one of the best I’ve had ever. That’s what’s going to bring me back soon… can’t get that awesome, meaty, juicy burger out of my mind! Give Blu a try… hope you like it, too.

Five of us went tonight(6÷5÷15) and the waitress took forever to get us our drinks. The apps took 40 minutes to come out and the food took another 30. We asked the waitress for water 3 times and plates for apps 2 times. The burgers were not cooked as ordered, the fish was not edible and the poutine sucked. The taco salad was soggy with no chicken. DONOTGOHERE!!! Luckily we went to Jerimiahs after down the street because we didn’t want to wait for beers. The girls were giving out free Guinness blonde and koozies. Night was saved.

I came to BLU for a friend’s birthday dinner this past weekend and found the food pretty tasty! It reminds me of a mix of upscale bar food and home-style type cuisine. I am not at all familiar with the west side of town, but it was pretty easy to find off of Buffalo Road. It has a downstairs level(«the underground»), the main level with the bar and up a few stairs to another dining area. The bar area is gorgeous, with sleek blue lighting and ample bar space. We were there on their anniversary weekend(2 years) so they had a ton of different things going on, live music, etc. We sat in the upper dining area and they were playing some pop music before the band began around 6pm. I do like live music, but it was a little loud for me; I don’t like to have to strain to hear my dining companions. Our waitress was very nice and helpful, and checked in on us often. I don’t really eat dairy, but if you like cheese, this is your menu. They seem to specialize in mac and cheese, and they had several different types on the menu. My friends got the«roc» mac and cheese(topped with meat hot sauce, and other things you’d find on a garbage plate), the lobster mac and cheese which I heard was fantastic, and the original with bacon. They also have tons of different burger options, many with eclectic and interesting combinations. I was simple and went with the original burger and fries. The burger was cooked to my requested medium rare, and it had a great char on the outside(YUM). The patty to bun ratio was good and the bread was sturdy(it’s a pet peeve of mine when the bottom bun becomes soggy). The fries were good if not forgettable. We also had the chicken wings as an appetizer. We got the mild wings, and they were pretty flavorless. I hope this restaurant figures out its identity as it seemed a little all over the place. I also would have liked to see more veggie-friendly meal options, but as I said, if you love cheese, give this place a try!

My husband and I tried out this restaurant on a Thursday night around 630pm which is apparently Southern BBQ special night. The atmosphere is trendy. Comfy blue booths and tables that were pretty spread out. There is two floors but we didn’t go downstairs. Looks like a pretty chill bar I would definitely come back to play pool and catch a drink. The food was not so great. For an appetizer we ordered fried pickles and banana peppers. It was a really big appetizer and it was pretty good. Not the best I’ve ever had and I probably wouldn’t get them again if I came back. The portions were huge and reasonably priced. My husband ordered the Hungry Cowboy. A burger that he suspected was frozen prior and may have been a turkey burger. He did not like the burger at all, he didn’t even finish! He’s a big guy… He always finishes his food. I however, liked the fries he got as a side, beer battered and delicious. I ordered the Summer BLU salad. The blueberries were good, the lettuce was gross, I couldn’t taste the pecans barely, but the feta and the dressing were delicious so I ate a good portion but also did not finish. Our waitress was friendly and prompt with service and food!

Very disappointing. I’m a blogger(Bargain Hound Blog) and rec’d a certificate from for my review, and we chose BLU. The menu they had on Restaurant.com’s website was entirely different that what they had in person.(No chicken piccata, etc). No Mozzarella sticks, no chicken tenders — what kind of bar & grill doesn’t offer the staples? The pizza tasted previously frozen and was horrible. Rec’d no plates or napkins, and had to ask for silverware. It was a Friday afternoon and we were told we could NOT have the fish fry because they didn’t offer them until 4:30pm. Bad business. My boyfriend got the Spartan burger, and he said it was good, and only ate ½ of it, and a couple hours later he felt sick and had really bad heartburn. He saved the other half but threw it out when we got home. He didn’t like the fries, he said they tasted like garlic. The hostess /waitress was friendly but I don’t think she was very knowledgeable about the menu. I asked for only Mozzarella on my pizza and light sauce, and I’m pretty sure the pizza was pre-made and frozen, it was disgusting. We drove almost an hour to get there, and it was a huge let down. We will never be back.

3 – 3.5 stars I came here recently with my boyfriend to catch up with some friends we haven’t seen in a while. On the outside, it looks like a really nice and classy restaurant, and the interior also looks pretty nice. They also have an outdoor patio area that would be great to sit and relax during a nice summer day. We went around 5ish, so it was a bit early for dinner. We ordered a few appetizers and drinks. They have a list of specialty cocktails that are OK priced(anywhere from $ 8 – 10), and are actually pretty decent. I had the Patio Punch, which tasted like a Bahama Mama. Out of the appetizers, the calamari was especially good. The restaurant did start to fill up as we were on the tail end of leaving. The owner was walking around chatting with the tables, so it was a nice touch. Overall, this place has a nice ambiance, but might be a little out of the way, depending on where you are. I wouldn’t mind stopping by here if I was in the area again though.
