*Lunch review* After a solid morning of horseback riding and other outdoor fall activities in Clifton, my friend and I had built up an appetite for something warm and delicious — aka a tuna melt with diner style french fries. Being mindful of our appearance(and slight odor, to be honest) we needed a place that A) provided said comfort food, and B) would not judge us based on our attire/presentation. Thankfully for us, Acropolis fulfilled both of these requirements! Bonus points for location, price, and customer service. Would definitely return if I’m in the area!

The staff is always friendly, the food is good and the prices are reasonable, and it’s always clean. My favorite place to go for breakfast.

I used to run a farm, but«A Crop Police» officer showed up one day and shut me down for selling non-Monsanto products. This might seem like a joke or a ridiculous concept but this kind of thing is happening to farmers all over the USA. And the USB and USC too. Although I’m not sure why little ports on the side of your computer or overpriced football colleges in districts more famous for rap music are involved with farming anyway. Computer modelling maybe? Speaking of modelling, check this out.(Pulls down pants). What to get: Chicken Souvlaki What else: Greek Wedding Soup What else: You said that already What else: This is getting old dude What else:(walks away) I took a teenybopper girl(yes she was legal, 18 or 19. I think) to an Aeropostale and she asked for«a crop top please.» It reminded me of this restaurant so I immediately asked her to come with me. To the restaurant I mean. She said she only eats at Olive Garden or PF Chang’s. I said that she should have her mother call me and walked away. I never saw her again. Except at TGIF last night. She’s such a liar. I stopped here at the beginning of a Rochester food tour, ages ago. Like, at least, 2 days ago. Way back in the day. I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki Pita and it came with a generously large cup of Greek Wedding Soup(as recommended by the cute waitress). I liked that the diner was half full even at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon. It makes me happy when little local places are doing well. One of their toilets is out of action. So they have«a crapper less» than they used to. The Chicken Souvlaki was excellent. It was served in a Gyro Pita(not my fave way to go with Souvlaki, I prefer it stuffed in a fluffy pita pocket) but for this sandwich it worked. It had plenty of salad and sauce on there. The chicken was tasty but could have used a bit more sauce or marinade. With that in mind, I marched back in there and asked for some Greek dressing. He thought I meant Tzaziki but once he figured it out, he got me the oil and we were good to go. Don’t you love when you bring out the oil and then you’re good to go? The oil addition made everything more slippery and fun and stopped things being abrasive. She had a much better time once we busted out the oil. Oh wait. Sorry that was a review of something totally different. The oil addition made the sandwich twice as tasty. It made it slippery and juicy and dripping, and turned it into a 5-star pita. So I highly recommend you ask for a side of Greek Oil too. Aka dressing. I tried the oil by itself and it had a real kick to it. Made me cough. Like when a certain boyfriend does what he does right in my mouth and so on. Splutter splutter. He leads me around on a leash you know. Made of copper. «A copper leash.» The chips that come with the sandwich are a bit bland, stale. The soup on the other hand is a wonderful addition. They should skip the chips entirely and give you a mini salad instead. Or nothing. Or offer a choice. My landlord keeps yelling at me. Because I violated my lease agreement. I’m getting«aggro for lease.» Also, the old guy that owns this place is very atypical for an old guy in a Greek diner. In that he is such a warm, smiling, friendly, helpful and adorable man. My heart really went out to him. No charge for the oil and he seemed genuinely delighted that I was getting food from his place and truly happy to provide me with the extra cup of oil I came back in for. You may not be tough, but at least pretend to be tough. «Act robust please.» Definitely the best Greek food I’ve had in Rochester, although I do also love the Gyro at Gyro Mania. However for me, this place tops it, and all the Gyro shops posing as Garbage Plate outlets, and Voula’s(gasp!), Byblos, Sinbads, and definitely miles better than the likes of Aladdin’s. Unfortunately, it’s way out in Chili so it will never be fashionable like those places. But those who eat at fashionable spots are really missing out on some of the best homemade Greek diner food in the 585. Now let’s get back to talking about how much better things are with oil, honey…

Diner food — nothing great. Asked for well done home fries — they came out the same as the other 4 guests at the table. Surly server — she seemed to be having a bad morning. MUCHMUCH better places around.

Not all Greek diners are created equal; Acropolis is one that is better than most. Delicious affordable breakfast, efficient friendly service, plenty of parking, bright bustling atmosphere… the perks of this modest sized Chili diner go on and on. My blueberry pancakes were light and fluffy and accompanied with eggs that were scrambled to a silky texture not a rubbery one that a lot of diners have served. My partner’s dish was some kind of corned beef hash skillet topped with fried eggs along with toast and I hear it was just as yummy as what I had. Heck, even the coffee was actually good; but I have low expectations of diner coffee. We came here on a sunday morning around 9ish and it was busy but no wait for a table and we were greeted as soon as we walked in; no awkwardly standing around at the front for someone to seat us. Overall a very pleasant experience. Definitely will return!

I eat here at least 3 – 4 times per week. Authentic Greek food. Best breakfast around! Can’t beat the prices! Highly recommended!

I’m surprised that I haven’t reviewed Acropolis before since it’s our breakfast choice in Chili. What is especially important is that the waitresses are always smiling and friendly to every customer and provide excellent service. This is important when you are still waking up and ready for that first cup of coffee to start the day. Breakfast selection includes the usual choices with a whiteboard of daily specials, There’s a full selection of sandwiches and dinners for later in the day; everything we’ve had there has been excellent, including the gyros and other Greek specialties. The restaurant’s only disadvantage is that there are mostly booths, some of which can be expanded by removing a partition, so for large groups the seating would be difficult.

Yummy Cinnamon Swirl French Toast! Had a breakfast date with dad. I wanted breakfast, he wanted low-key. He likes coming out here, and claims the food is always good — who am I to complain when he’s paying.(I hadn’t been here in a long time — not since it was the old Town and Country. It’s smaller now, and the right half of the restaurant has been given over to some other shop or the kitchen area — I’m not sure) Anyways… there was nothing to complain about! The food was good. I got my french toast fix. Bacon was done to order. Dad’s omelet was cooked well and tasty. Booths were clean and cleaned promptly after patrons left.(I could smell the clorox, and I quite like knowing that things are cleaned.) The waitress was friendly and kept our coffees hot. Food came out within a reasonable about of time. All-in-all a pleasant breakfast experience with my dad.

Best Greek dinner this side of Chili Ave. I highly recommend the Bonanza Burger if you like bacon cheese burgers. There’s only two slices but they’re about a ¼ of an inch thick and both of them cover the burger(in some cases the strips might be so long you’ll have to break them in half). Oh and the fries are just as good. Regular burgers are great as well.
