I had high expectations after reading all the great reviews, but was sorely disappointed. I ordered the sweet & sour chicken dish, but got sweet & sour vegetables with a few pieces of chicken. The sauce itself was only ok. My husband had the same complaint with his dish.

A yummy comfort Thai. Great service. Love Sue one of the cooks. My whole family, 23 of us, all like this place. When can you ever get that many people to agree on anything. Favorites are garlic chicken, yum yi, and the hot and sour soup.

Everytime I eat Thai somewhere else, I have to come here in the next few days. I just love it. The spring rolls will make you cry and I cannot even try to choose a favorite meal. I try something new frequently and have yet to have something I didn’t like. Pad Thai is ok here but pass omit in favor of one of their fantastic unique dishes.

Their noodle dishes are delicious! I always get carry out here and they made the effort to remember me and my favorite order. My best recommendations are Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle, and Peanut Curry.

This is great Thai food. I ordered to go so I’m not sure of the service level but the clerk at pickup was super friendly. I ordered what I usually get– pad ped with tofu– and I was not disappointed. Portion sizes were humongous and seemed to be made with high quality ingredients. Great deal on quality good Thai food! It’s an absolute must!

Coming from San Francisco, we have developed a true foodie tastes! This by far is the best Thai food we have ever had, including the ones we frequented in San Francisco! We always do delivery, so not sure what it’s like in the restaurant, but delivery is AMAZING! They are fast, they have always had the order correct and very nice when they come. I love that they know who we are when we call, they even remember my order and remind me of a few things that I may forget when I order. Totally makes us feel like we are at home in San Francisco. The crispy duck is fantastic! It isn’t greasy, moist inside and crispy outside even for delivery. Never over cooked. The pad thai is great as well. Tons of food always, we have over for a few days. The noodle salad is wonderful as well shrimp, chicken always cooked very well. Completely recommend!

The good: The entrees, portion sizes. The bad: Massive menu that will take you a long time to look through. The mystery meat appetizer sampler thingy that was $ 6.50… it’s why I’m giving Thai Inn a 3. I feel like I could make this a monstrously long review, but I’ll try to refrain. I came in here with my girlfriend after using a random generator to choose a restaurant to visit — yes, we’re that indecisive. We both got entrees that came with a spring roll and hot and sour soup for a pretty measly $ 7.95 and $ 8.50. Female pal got General Tso(or was it Chang’s???) chicken, and I got their garlic chicken which the menu seemed to imply was their best item. The hot and sour soup has been said on here to be «THEBEST» by a few people… I’ll say I thought it was egg drop or something when I first saw it. Maybe Thai hot and sour soup is always this different from Chinese, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. It tasted like sweet and sour soup at first, but I put some chili paste stuff in there and I liked it more. Calling this soup«hot and sour» as it’s made is misleading. The appetizer was just… scary. It came with wontons, crab rangoons, and dumpings. The dumpings and wontons tasted strange and had some sort of meat we couldn’t guess for sure… I thought pork, but when my girlfriend asked, the waiter said they were both chicken. Okay, that scares me, because neither tasted like chicken, neither looked like chicken, and they were both different colors. Yeah… never again. Hey, at least the crab rangoons and spring rolls we had were pretty tasty… The entrees were the best part. The sauce for the garlic chicken is awesome and should probably just be bottled… I could heat that stuff up and drink it. The General Tso(ORCHANG’S!?) chicken my girlfriend got also had a tasty, obviously-made-in-house sauce. I’d come back to Thai Inn, but I’ve had better Thai food in the area, and the sample appetizer thing I got was just downright horrifying… I forgot to mention that I had some cartilage in one of my dumplings… stay away from that mystery meat, and I think you’ll rate Thai Inn higher than I did.

We came here because of the great reviews the restaurant had on Unilocal.Big. Mistake. We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Saturday night, and that was the first sign. A lady came up and seated us, and we took a look at the menu. My mom and I instantly made eye contact, but we both knew it was too late to exit the restaurant. We both prayed that the food was going to be good because we were both starving. The menu was a mixture of Americanized Chinese food and Thai food. I don’t know if this is a telltale sign of inauthenticity, but in my past experience, it’s always been this way in Americanized restaurants. Anyway, I ordered a tropical fried rice and my mom ordered the drunken noodles. We waited for a pretty long time, considering the fact that we were the only ones in the restaurant. The food came, and we both dug in. One thing that’s great about this restaurant is the portion sizes– my fried rice looked like it had about double the amount we would usually get in other restaurants! But never mind that, because neither of us ended up taking the food home, even though we barely managed to finish a third of it. My fried rice was oily, oily oily. I grabbed my fork and slid it under the rice, only to find it dripping with orange oil. The flavor was okay. It just tasted like regular fried rice with pineapple chunks added in. My mom complained that her drunken noodles were covered in the brown sauce that every Chinese restaurant that she worked at had. I tasted it, and it was incredibly sad. The rice noodles were too rubbery and it felt like the sauce just clung on to it. WAY different from the food in Thailand. Fine, I’ll be fair and I won’t even compare it to real Thai food; I’ll just compare it with restaurants in Metro Detroit… Still a big disappointment. If you want a better Thai experience, I suggest SyThai. It isn’t exactly authentic either, but at least the food’s tasty. It took us a while to get the waitress to notice that we were done(she was in the kitchen, since we were the only ones in the restaurant) and needed our check. We finally escaped and went downtown to get hot dogs at Lipuma’s.

I agree with reviewers that service can be a bit slow, but I am still a fan of the food. I was pretty stoked that in their special entrees you get soup and a spring roll on the side. This helps combat those hunger pangs as you’re waiting for your food to be cooked. Also kudos for bringing it out before the food is done as most Asian restaurants do not offer this courtesy even when you are ordering the appetizer as an appetizer. The hot and sour soup was not what i was expecting though. It was quite sweet with lots of sourness but not much spice. I think I’ll pass on that next time. My family and I ordered the beef Pad Thai without spice or bean sprouts for the little one, beef Asian fried rice with medium spice, and spicy Thai duck with medium spice. I have no complaints with our entrees. The pad thai noodles were perfectly cooked and chewy with not too much sauce on them. The fried rice was not greasy and had a good ratio of rice to meat to veggies. Then there was the duck entrée. Oh man was it good. The spicy brown sauce had lots of bamboo, onion, snow peas, and mushrooms with bits of beef in it and it was all topped with slices of crispy duck. Mmmm. The portions were huge and the waitress was friendly. Also I was happy that they left a carafe of ice water on the table for us to refill our own cups. I would love to visit again.

Very good Thai food. Maybe the best in Rochester Hills. Good portion sizes. Their Pad Thai is outstanding along with chicken satay. My family and I have been coming here(take out usually) for years. Never disappointed. Wish they would offer a coupon once in a while…

The most authentic-tasting Thai restaurant in town. The owner’s so nice and accommodating every time I come here. Cheap food for a large quantity. I recommend the pad Thai, drunken noodles, masuman curry, and tropical fried rice. Princess shrimp if you want appetizer

This place is awful. I thought with all the great ratings it would be passable. Nope. Sucks. The crab ragoons are disgusting. The dough is super thick and was almost inedible. There was barely any filling. And definitely no crab. The pad Thai was way too peanutty tasting and sticky. There were no notable green onion in the dish, a key ingredient to add that bit of freshness. The chicken was weird too. It had a strange coating that did not work well. The Massuman curry had a nice flavor to it actually. But the potatoes were undercooked to the point of crunchiness. It could’ve been passable if I didn’t get violently sick after eating some of everything I just mentioned. Sorry, worst Thai food I have even had.

They have the BEST hot and sour soup ever! And every time I order the Pad thai, I always make sure to ask to grill the sprouts(I dont like them raw) also make sure you ask for LEMON and not Lime. Only thing I ordered there that was really bad was seafood(shrimp) it wasnt good at all. But everything was great!

We were SO hungry after a weekend trip out of town. We’ve been wanting to try the Thai Inn for a while so we picked up a carry out on our way home. The portions are HUGE and good enough to eat for two more days. The spring rolls were crispy and not too greasy. The prices are insane — it was less than $ 20 for two full dinners and two spring rolls. We ordered the Pad Thai and the Thai Drunken Noodles — I must say that the Drunken Noodles were the best! We are so excited to have found a new Thai place so close to us. Don’t let the strip-mal vibe fool you — it’s worth it to stop in!

I was going to give Thai Inn 4 stars, when my boyfriend said to me, «What would make it a 5 star review?» I couldn’t answer. I don’t think it could get any better! I had a serious Thai food craving today, and was in the Rochester area. I didn’t want to go to Bangkok, so I searched Unilocal for another option, and that’ when I stumbled upon this gem. I didn’t even know it existed! It is tucked away in a tiny area of a plaza. I called about 15 minutes before they opened in hopes that MAYBE someone would pick up the phone early(I was starvin’!). And somebody did! And she was a total sweetheart. It was ready in 15 minutes for me. I ordered tofu pad see ew extra hot *I included a picture so you can see how generous the portion size is!* The lady who rang me up was the one who cooked my meal, and she told me that she«tries every dish before serving it,» and how she was«impressed that I ordered extra hot.» She was sniffling from the heat. I was excited. I love a Thai place that makes food so hot my stomach has a warm feeling the rest of the day. I got home and DEVOURED my meal. The noodles were perfectly cooked, chewy, fresh, and not oily. She made my meal with generous portions of broccoli and tofu, and the spice level was out of this world. It didn’t taste just like red pepper flakes, it had an absolute wonderful flavor to it. I can’t wait to go again and try something else! The menu is huge!
