Excellent food. Great prices. My wife and I were looking for a place to stop for lunch between Dallas and Victoria. We had boudin, blackened chicken, mac and cheese, and red beans and rice. The food had a nice amount of spice to it without being too hot. We each drank water. The meal cost us about $ 12 in all, and they take credit cards. We almost had the place to ourselves, probably because it’s so close to Christmas. I wish more places like this existed.

I was in the area and have been wanting to try this place out. I got my food to-go. Before I say the good and the bad, I will say that I am pretty critical when reviewing a place. The Inside — very nice, very clean, and the staff/owners were the nicest that I have encountered outside of fine dining. You guys were awesome. The Food — I was actually expecting better and there was a pretty big disappointment here. The food wasn’t cooked fresh and it shows. It all comes out of roasters to keep it warm. Below is what I ordered and what I liked or disliked about the place. Sausage — It was great, the flavor was good, fairly juicy and was my favorite thing that I ordered. Blackened Chicken — This was the biggest disappointment in my whole meal. I would assume, ordering blackened chicken that it would be grilled, oven baked or pan sauteed. This chicken seemed to be boiled. It had no color, barely any seasoning and was small. The chicken was definitely not a fresh chicken breast either. It was definitely frozen. The taste was mediocre where there was seasoning but besides the flavoring, the chicken was a bust. Loaded Mash Potatoes — They were definitely more homemade which is a big plus but man were these potatoes salty. They had a great flavor but the saltiness was overbearing. Mac and Cheese — It looked cheesy but weirdly sour like it had sour cream in it. I wouldn’t say it was great but it wasn’t bad. I am going to give them a try again and actually try the more traditional Cajun items and report back. The Price — I would say it would be a good price point if the food wasn’t such a disappointment. The above was $ 14 and some change. If you guys could nail down the dishes this place would be great. There are no other Cajun places besides Buzzard Billy’s. You guys have a great potential to be a great restaurant! Everyone has a off day and that is why i want to try you guys again. Until next time!

This was my first time trying Boudain and it definitely won’t be my last! It was delicious and so was the gumbo. I called in my order right before they closed and ended up needing to order more at the last minute. When I got there to pick up my food, I felt bad knowing they were closing in 5 minutes but asked the manager if it would be too much trouble to add on to my order. He assured me it wouldn’t be any trouble at all and happily took the rest of my order. I fully expected my order to be «end of the night» food since I went so late and didn’t expect them to go all out but I was wrong. Everything was excellent and I can’t wait to eat there again. I plan to dine-in with my husband next time though because the atmosphere seemed to be enjoyable for a night out.

Didn’t expect to find good Cajun food in this part of the state, but here it is. Gumbo, smoked boudin, and red beans rice are all tasty. Staff is very friendly.

Seriously, why have you not gone here yet? I don’t know a whole lot about cajun food, but I do have a pretty good idea about what good food tastes like, and this is it. My wife and I checked this place out on a Saturday night, and it was hopping. The parking lot was full(good sign), but the restaurant has enough space that there were still tables available. The back room had a bluegrass jam going on, which made for a delightful atmosphere. We both had the shack special: an entrée, two sides, and a drink for $ 10(it was a steal!). I had the smoked boudain, crawfish étouffée, and rice and beans. My wife had crawfish balls, shrimp bisque, and the rice and beans(I might have had the leftovers of that). Having never had boudain before, I didn’t know what to expect, but it was a wonderful smokey sausage with rice and other stuff in it that was quite tasty. The crawfish étouffée was the best I have ever had, and the rice and beans were quite tasty as well. I was not as big a fan of the crawfish balls(my wife enjoyed them, however) but her shrimp bisque was perfect for dipping bread into, as was quite flavorful. The meal, overall was fantastic… but then they went and turned it up to 11. When we placed our order we were told that the bread pudding would change our lives. We chuckled at the thought, figuring that they had over made it and needed to sell more of it. We were wrong. Seriously, I could eat that bread pudding three times a day for the rest of my life(which would be short because I would probably end up in a diabetic coma after a week of a diet like that). It is that good. Best I have ever had(sorry, mom). The meal is fantastic, but you will miss out if you skip the bread pudding. This is a great little spot, quite affordable, and the staff are friendly and really love what they are doing. I have a feeling that this might be my new addiction.

I know Cajun food and this is good Cajun food. My favorites are the boudain, red beans and rice and the shrimp gumbo. It is great to have such high quality Cajun cuisine right here in Robinson. The owners and their family are the best, friendly and courteous service. All in all it makes you want to keep going back as often as possible.

Oh Wow! My friend and I visited the Boudain Shack last night. The food was excellent and I loved the atmosphere! I had the smoked boudain and crawfish etouffée. Both were delicious! The etouffée has a fantastic spicy flavor with a lot of tender, melt in your mouth crawfish. Having come from the Midwest, I’ve never eaten boudain before. It basically looks like a sausage but when you cut into it, you find that it is stuffed with a scrumptious, slightly spicy rice mixture. Yum! My friend had the smoked boudain and the shrimp gumbo. She loved it all as well! The atmosphere is casual, the price is right, the food is delicious, and the owners and employees are friendly. I’m already looking forward to next time…

The Boudain Shack has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Waco. I try to eat here at least once a week. They have awesome food & a great, family friendly atmosphere as well! I highly recommend the smoked boudain, red beans & rice, green beans, & shrimp gumbo. All of the food I’ve tried so far has been RICH in taste & not tasteless at all. The boudain(their specialty) is my absolute favorite, but it’s all delicious! This place is WAY better than Waco’s other«Cajun» restaurant on the river. They are worth the drive into Robinson for such a scrumptious, unique(to Waco) cuisine. Also, you won’t meet a nicer restaurant staff anywhere else. Everyone is extremely friendly & willing to help! Go try some boudain, meet Ally the alligator & write your name on their wall. You won’t regret it! :)

We were excited to have a new place to eat in Robinson and we love Cajun food. Unfortunately, this is not a Cajun restaurant or even what I would consider a real restaurant. Entrees and sides are individually priced, served on Styrofoam with cheap plastic forks and spoons. There is no iced tea or coffee only 20 ounce plastic bottled drinks. I ordered stuffed crab which was mostly bread type stuffing, the crab pieces were non-existent and the entire crab could not have been more than 4 inches in length and 3 inches wide. I would estimate the total weight of the entrée to be less than three ounces, the sides; shrimp bisque and red beans and rice were interesting. The shrimp bisque was a cheese sauce without any perceptible shrimp, some minced onion and a portion of the burned cheese from the bottom of the pan and was over salted. The red beans and rice were tasteless with the lump of rice in the center of the Styrofoam bowl that was completely stuck together. The side were three times the size of the entrée. My wife’s gumbo was bland and the ingredients were pureed in a blender or food processor. Everything is cooked or prepared in advance and probably microwaved when we ordered. There were two types of salad dressing for her prepackaged salad Catalina and Ranch. The best part of the meal were the green beans that my wife ordered. The owner said that they were really busy for the grand opening but had really slowed down, I know why, he can’t have much repeat business if tonight was an indication of the food.
