Have used Woods Family for years and I couldn’t ask for a more competent company for all my heating and air needs. They always service my units and I have had them put all new thermostats in. I have even recommended them to my friends which I would never do unless I was certain that the job would be done correctly. For example, my best friend needed her air fixed when it was extremely hot outside and no other company would come out that day. I told her about my experience with Woods and they came out and did the job. She was so happy and said that she was glad she did and that the serviceman was very professional… She had her air working that same day! Thank you for always being reliable. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone wanting excellent service.

Woods Heating preys on the elderly who cannot defend themselves. The January Friday before the big snow storm my 86 year old mother’s furnace stopped, called Woods HVAC and a «Roger» came out to say he had a big gas water heater to install for another customer and could not repair her furnace on Friday. He said he inspected it and thought he would come back on Tuesday after the big snow storm to come and replace a line that was leaking oil and was the cause of the failure. She was distressed to hear that her heat would be out for not just 5 days but with the snow storm, the water pipes would freeze and so would she. His cavalier answer was«Surely you have someone you could stay with.» I live in Ohio so could not help myself but called another Roanoke contractor who came within the hour, determined it was probably not a leak but instead pulled the oil intake line up 2 inches(clogged with sediment) and restarted the furnace. So, Roger was taking advantage of an old lady who could not defend herself(and is worried that a complaint will make him retaliate by not coming in the future), misdiagnosed the problem and didn’t even try the furnace 101 solution of pulling up the line to try. The comment that she should go stay with someone else because he was too busy to help on a Friday where he had a «big job» is not just inconsiderate but unforgiveable. Think before you call this company!

I replaced AC, air handler and furnace with a Trane from Woods. I couldn’t be any happier. These guys were professional and awesome. Jason came over and showed me a few options and we bought the best one we could. I love it. I will use these guys again and I will tell everyone I can about them. Thanks for the great service!

We had only been in our new house for about three weeks when the AC went out. Just before Woods arrived I spoke with some friends and we determined it was the capacitor. I priced the capacitor at a local HVAC supply store, it was $ 10. Rather than replace it myself I decided to let the professionals take care of it. Woods charged $ 89 for the trip fee and $ 171 for the capacitor. $ 171 for a $ 10 part. If that isn’t price gouging I don’t know what is.

I called them last winter to have them clean my heat ducts because I thought that was why my heat/ac unit was not working up to capacity. Before even getting on his hands and knees to truly look at anything, the repair tech advised that I needed a whole new heating/ac unit for over $ 6,000. He left without ever even cleaning the ducts which is why I called them out in the first place. I did not have over $ 6,000 to buy a new unit. I contacted another local company who came out and charged the unit and it works like a charm. And they actually took the time and effort to really check it out. I would not recommend Woods to anyone.
